Former 60 Minutes journalist Ian Leslie, and the chair of public broadcaster SBS Carla Zampatti are among those to be honoured in today’s Queen’s Birthday Honours roll.
Leslie has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), in recognition of his services to the media industry. Boasting a 45-year media career, including 11 years as a 60 Minutes reporter, Leslie, 66, now runs his own communications business and regularly appears as a keynote speaker.
Ms Zampatti was awarded a Companion (AC) in the general division for her work at SBS, which she has chaired for the past 10 years, and for “leadership and management roles in the fashion and retail property sectors … and to women as a role model and mentor”. Ms Zampatti was appointed to the SBS board in December 1999, and was reappointed for a further five years in December 2004 so her direct involvement with the broadcaster looks set to expire this year.

How remiss of me (and some other media!) for these.
Congratulations also to Choir of Hard Knocks creator Jonathon Welch and TV and radio personality John Michael Howson and Joe Hasham (who played a gay character in Number 96), recipients of Medal of Order of Australia (OAM).
