Trailer: The Pacific

A first look at HBO's World War II miniseries filmed in Australia, which won't screen until 2010.

pacific1Channel Seven’s screening of The Pacific won’t be with us until 2010, with the lavish miniseries not due to air on HBO or BSkyB until March.

The $200m ten part tale, which tells the stories of three Marines during their defence against the Japanese attack during World War II, was filmed in Victoria and Queensland. It has been previously touted as one of Seven’s 2009 offerings.

In this trailer, it certainly looks tempting, but you’ll be lucky to recognise any locations here.

  1. I cannot wait for this – i must have watched band of brothers at least 10 times through so far – i’ve been looking forward to this for so long!

  2. ch7 just aired a promo during harry’s practice on 7HD!! maybe it was a mistake it looked a bit unfinished.

it looked similar to that one in the article at the beginning it had HBO|7|some other symbol. and they had titles: “filmed in australia” and something like “in the war that saved australia”. but it was only about 30 seconds.

it looked unfinished because the titles had a square behind them to block out the original text and there was one scene where a codeid popped up at the bottom lol.

  3. The Pacific looks like its going to be a good show. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are a great combination in doing shows like these. I’ve already got the box-set of Band Of Brothers, and The Pacific looks like one to add to the collection.
