TV virus at Seven bash

By David Knox on June 19, 2009 / Filed Under News 3

maskFollowing Wednesday night’s extraordinary speech by David Leckie at a celebration of its morning programmes, the Daily Telegraph today says he told fellow executives he was “definitely not” affected by alcohol or drugs and had been suffering from a bad virus.

“If he was pi**ed the F-word would have been used in all its permutations and he would have had a go at Nine and TEN, which he didn’t,” an unnamed source said.

Sunrise weather gal Fifi Box apparently had a bit of a virus too. She stayed away from the party.

The article speculates that Leckie has not fully-recovered since his 11 day coma last year.

In the industry the Seven exec is certainly known for his colourful quotes, including those attacking rivals. Some performances have been so legendary that last year it prompted Nine spokesman David Hurley to dub him “a danger to shipping whenever he’s let loose in public.”

Never mind the bloody ships. If there was any hint of a virus in the room shouldn’t guests have been issued with Swine Flu Masks?

Hopefully they all catch this virus. That way I won’t have to see any idiots on TV for a while!

Leckie was probably suffering from the “networking virus”.

Worse than swine flu I hear.

If you ever go to Brissie, don’t go on the “Channel 7 Wheel of Brisbane”. Too many bad memories.

And by the way David, I’m back from my hiatus..

I do love a David Leckie speech.

Except for the network conflict, he should totally be a judge on Idol.
