Nine does show AFL Footy Show, but it’s now later in Syd / Bris. In fact AFL fans in “the north” are now getting what NRL fans in “the south” have been getting for ages. The introduction of GO! has limited the network’s ability to multichannel 9HD at this stage. You can see they’ve also added Footy Classified later to Nine in Syd / Bris.

You don’t show the AFL Footy Show – I don’t watch your television channel. Simple. How playing one show twice at the same time, instead of two shows with different demographics is supposed to increase your viewing numbers is beyond me.

Channel 9 should be embarassed with not showing AFL footytips show anymore
    mid season and without warning
hope somebody with money can influence David Gyngell as it’s madness not to promote AFL with a new Sydney team coming

I live in Sydney and the only channel nine program I religiously watched was the AFL Footy Show.

Now its 11:30pm or nothing – looks like nothing wins

Maybe the marketers might wake up the fact that a large portion of the viewers to this genre happen to have high dispoable income

I cant believe Nine pumped the AFL footy show. The NRL footy show was on the decline and the AFL boys put together a great show – but why do we need to stay up until 11.30 to start watching it now.

Not happy – especially mid season.

+1 for the disappointment at the re-programming of the AFL footy show up here in QLD. I actually applauded Nine for doing something right for once, only to get it taken away even before the season has finished.

If only there was a way to really show nine what a bunch of scumsucking, audience disregarding, money hungry operation they really are.

First they wrecked the cricket and now this……

finally I don’t have to accidently record that full of insipid crap afl footy show on 9hd when I want NRL. simulcast programming is the way to go….

It is disappointing that after this Thursday,I won’t be able to see The AFL Footy Show live anymore.

Screwed. Cannot watch AFL Footy Show or Footy Classified live any more or at all (FC). Dohh!

  15. Jackson July 28, 2009 at 11:55 am -

Hopefully that means ellen is out of repeats as of 2/8.

  16. kylie July 28, 2009 at 9:08 am -

I watch the AFL Footy Show on 9HD at 9.30pm every Thursday night.
Only a small percentage of the nation watches the NRL Footy Show. Broadcasting it on 9HD will not increase viewer numbers.
    Thanks Nein you scumbags.

Dammit, does this mean that Queensland viewers won’t get the AFL footy show any more?

    They needed the ratings…

Good to see they’re making stuff on their main channel available in HD now that GO! is launching soon.
I’m personally a fan of having the main channel simulcast in HD for all HD programming, but slotting in other HD stuff if the program being shown on the main channel isn’t available in HD.

However if there isn’t a secondary channel available they should have as many breakaways on the HD channel as possible. :P

@chris, i wouldnt expect it. us in the northern states dont get the sunday afl footy show at all, not even on 9hd.

  20. Michael July 27, 2009 at 7:55 pm -

9 like the other commercials can broadcast different programmes on 3 channels, 2sd channels & 1 hd channel, so why is the hd part time?

  21. chris July 27, 2009 at 7:24 pm -

does that mean that victorian viewers will get the NRL footy show and sunday NRL footy show on 9HD?

  22. mrb July 27, 2009 at 7:08 pm -

I did a channel scan on the weekend in Perth and found no GO channel yet.

  23. David Knox July 27, 2009 at 6:15 pm -

How many ways can we say no?

  24. Andy July 27, 2009 at 6:01 pm -

David, any word from either nine or foxtel in regards to the broadcasting of Go on Foxtel?

  25. Andrew B July 27, 2009 at 5:58 pm -

There was the hope for a brief moment when the 9 network may have had 3 shows on at once on some occasions – and Thursday night with the 2 footy shows would have been a great example of when there is the need. AFL fans north of Vic should not have to wait to see AFL show, when 9 can continue to carry the AFL show on 9HD, with NRL on 9 main.

GO should not mean the death of all 9HD breakaways. It should in fact mean that now 9 can provide even greater programming variety while ensuring that all shows made in HD on 9 main are shown in HD (like Ellen, The View, ET, etc). And even GO shows that were made in HD could be shown on 9HD if the show on 9 main is not in HD. Another example, 9HD should do Go programming overnight instead of infomercials.

  26. Daniel July 27, 2009 at 5:37 pm -

What does that mean for us in the northern states regarding the AFL Footy Show? We got it at 9.30pm on 9HD. Does this mean we have to wait again for the scheduled 11.30pm delayed broadcast that has to wait on the rugby show running over then throw on a 30min news bulletin which results in the footy show not starting until 12.15 – 12.30am?

  27. Craig July 27, 2009 at 4:35 pm -

So how does this affect WIN HD? I guess with GO! it doesn’t really matter as for the first few months GO! will be on WIN HD.
