I wonder if this joint venture is a sign of things to come. WIN would be a great content provider for for any 24 hour News Channel launched by the ABC.

This only goes to prove that nearly all the money and time spent on Ultimo was wasted and it looks like they are going to do it again by building another “deathstar” in Campbelltown. All the proposed benefits are yet to proved – if they could not do it at Ultimo why would a new site be better?

State based versions of digital channels will be a boon for the ABC.

This will also probably mean that the “ABC2″ channel may evolve in time into a “second local channel” (possibly even running 24-7) and the ABC may pick up rights to other sport previously not considered under a one channel system, e.g. in Qld, local Rugby League on ABC1 and say, local AFL on ABC2.

With the expected increase in local content, that a return to a state based system would deliver, the current talent call for ABC3 may just only be the beginning…
