If it had got a 4th it wouldn't have survived till a fifth anyway.

They were lining up Archer to be the new central character, and if Robin had been the only one to quit it might have survived - but with the Sheriff and Guy of Gisbourne also gone it had no chance, so it's better it was killed off now rather than later.

They backed themselves into a corner, storywise, with Robin Hood by taking out a major character in the second series.

I think, like all good things, it was better to end sooner rather than later (Smallville/Stargate SG-1, I'm looking at you).

Shows like rh & merlin have a limited time span. Will be surprised if merlin survives s2 let alone s3. They are historical in thier nature & rarely will audiences allow them to stray from what is a general acceptance of who they were thus leading to limited story lines

Tiger Aspect, BBC and the entire Production team of Robin Hood were responsible for the downfall of this once brilliant family show (S1) not to mention BBC's crazy programme scheduling inconsistently. It was effectively killed when Marian was written out leaving nowhere else to go. A smidgin of common sense and a lot of continuity would have kept it successfully on track too. Shame on all those who saw fit to follow the arch-villain's story over Robin Hood and shame on everybody in Production for misleading the fans that is was Robin Hood when he was neglected - you had an excellent committed cast Tiger/BBC and you blew it but when they lost their enthusiasm for the show, it was evident you stuffed it all up. Your decisions alone wrecked this fabulous show so don't allow the blame to fall on anyone for your obvious mistakes and blunders.

S3 ratings just did not deserve a 4th series, even more so with the exit of certain major characters

Having not seen season 3 yet, I'm disappointed at this news.

As far as it still working without Jonas Armstrong, who knows.
The absolutely brilliant Robin Of Sherwood was still just as good when Micheal Praed left after 2 seasons and Jason Connery took the lead as Robert being Robin.
Damn, I miss that show.

I'm kind of glad they axed it after 3 seasons. I mean, how could Robin Hood continue without Jonas Armstrong? I don't think another actor would be accepted into the role when Armstrong did such a brilliant job of it.

Have watched Season 3 and the stories weren't nearly as good as the previous two seasons.

Love the show, but really glad they decided not to make another season.
