Fiona’s dance card scratched?

By David Knox on July 3, 2009 / Filed Under News 11

DWTSChannel Seven is waiting on the results of hospital tests before deciding whether comedian Fiona O’Loughlin (centre) will be able to take part in Dancing With The Stars.

O’Loughlin collapsed on stage at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane during her current stand up comedy tour.

“Channel Seven is most concerned for Fiona’s ongoing health,” a spokesperson told the Herald Sun.

“We are monitoring her situation closely.”

Participation in the Seven reality series has always seen a gruelling schedule for participants who are in the midst of another current gig. And most of them are, whether it is television, stage, sport or the comedy circuit.

Then there are the injuries that thwart them during the series too. Thankfully, none has appeared to match Nine’s jinxed series, Dancing on Ice.

If O’Loughlin is unable to participate it will throw a spanner in the works of programmers, who have slated the series based on the number of eliminations the show can muster.

All the best for the #1 Australian House-Wife comic! The series won’t be the same without her!! On your feet Fiona, and quick!

I thought I read somewhere she was inebriated?

I know I’m getting that story wrong some way but I thought I read that was the issue.

I think it’s interesting to see which news sources choose to print what really happened or to print that she was exhausted from dancing.

    A workmate’s partner was at the gig where she “collapsed” here in Brisbane last night;

Apparently she came out and explained that she’d been at “…an Italian lunch all day” and she “just woke up 12 minutes ago”. She then went on to abuse people in the crowd after asking what their names were, and talk about a recent stay in hospital.

Most of the audience left the theatre in disgust. My workmate’s partner left because she didn’t want to be the next audience member told “Oh that’s a f***ed name!”.

I’m sorry if i dont find her funny, but i also think 99% of the so called comedians or the shows that are supposed to be funny aren’t funny at all.

I think some people need to start watching Spicks and Specks who show some of the funniest comedians this land has to offer. Hope Fiona gets well soon.

I hope she gets better – but I have to say this……..

maybe she passed out from exhaustion? Her (only) jokes about how awful her kids are / being a mother etc etc are a bit like a broken record.

They can just do the good old “surprise non-elimination round” sham. Problem solved.
