Mad Men writer heading to Oz

Writer and producer Matthew Weiner will speak at the conference for the Screen Producers' Association of Australia.

mmMatthew Weiner, the creator and executive producer of the award-winning TV series Mad Men, is coming to Australia in November to be a keynote speaker at the Screen Producers conference in Sydney.

Acquiring Weiner for the event is a major coup, though SPAA, as it is known, has always managed to attract top international names.

Weiner first wrote the pilot for Mad Men while working on Becker in 1999. Three years later sent it as a writing sample to The Sopranos creator, David Chase, who hired him as a writer and executive producer.

The show is up for more Emmy Awards in September, which it could safekeep alongside the many awards it has alrady accrued.

Movie Extra will again air the second season from Thursday 6th August at 8:30pm, while the long awaited premiere of season 3 will air later in the year.
