Marcia: “Jan snubs Brady reunion”

By David Knox on July 10, 2009 / Filed Under News 13

bradyLooks like ‘Jan,’ or more particularly Eve Plumb, is determined to stay the black sheep of The Brady Bunch clan.

She is the sole Brady kid to decline a reunion invitation from The Oprah Winfrey Show -at least according to her big sis ‘Marcia’ (Maureen McCormick).

In a blog, McCormick wrote, “All of us said yes except for one person, Eve Plumb, who used to be my best friend but now apparently wants to distance herself from the show and, most troubling, from me . . . I have no idea why, unless she’s mad at the joke I made a few years ago that we’d had a lesbian love affair. I made the crack to be funny — and for shock value. I’m sorry if she took offense.”

The gag helped her get a lot of promo for her new biography.

Plumb has certainly appeared in reunions before, although she was notoriously absent from the camp spin-off The Brady Bunch Variety Hour (pictured). Even The Simpsons sent that one up, with a fake Lisa in their parody.

Maybe Oprah should have called in Geri Reschl?

Plumb’s agent, Mark Measures, watered down any hostility: “No one from Oprah called. We haven’t turned down anything. There is no feud.”

Suuuuuuuuure. Like she’s gonna call five and not six?

Not even ‘George Glass’ would buy that one!

Good on Eve, at least she wants to be more than a character she played years ago. Maybe the others should take a clue and become more than one note characters.

Wasn’t Maureen McCormick the only original cast member who refused to participate in “The Bradys” in the early 1990s? Granted, a one-off Oprah special is different to a series, but still….

It’s interesting how none of the guys ever refuse to appear in anything – it’s only ever the girls (minus Carol and Alice) who have to be re-cast!

If Oprah does recreate the Brady Bunch set, let’s hope this time she puts a toilet in it this time :-)

Surely Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb should just kiss and make up… oh hang on… Get over it Eve and get on Oprah for our sake.

This is what “Middle Child Syndrome ” is all about. She just needs to realise she’s part of a bunch ..The Brady Bunch. Oh and Jan , don’t forget to wear your glasses!

” unless she’s mad at the joke I made a few years ago that we’d had a lesbian love affair ” Surely not! Was it a joke or did you devote almost an entire chapter to it in your book and repeat it every time you were promoting your ‘book’?

    Poor old Eve Plumb.

Although she did have the good sense to avoid the infamous Brady Bunch Variety Hour back in 1977.

I’m old enough to remember seeing it the first time and remember being aghast at the sight of the Ice Vanaties doing a skating routine whilst the Brady kids sang a hybrid theme of Love to Love You Baby with The Hustle.

Surely it’s time for that show to return so we can all re-evaluate its brilliance…..or maybe not.

Even without Eve this will be must see Oprah and it’s very rare that I can say that! I really hope Oprah recreates the famous Brady set as she did with the Mary Tyler Moore set. Heaven!

Any idea when it will go to air?
