The Nine Network has confirmed GO! as the name of its new entertainment channel, a name first revealed by TV Tonight in April.
Set to launch on August 9th, the channel will offer themed nights including reality on Tuesdays, science fiction on Wednesdays, and female-skewed content on Thursdays.
Titles will include Fringe, Survivor: Gabon, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gossip Girl, The Hills, Moonlight, The Big Bang Theory, CSI: NY, Neighbours at War, Bad Lads Army, The Bachelor: Officer & A Gentleman, Dog The Bounty Hunter, The Wire, ET, CSI, Just Shoot Me, Little Britain, Aliens in America, CSI: Miami, Eleventh Hour, Privileged, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Seinfeld, Hell’s Kitchen and Wipeout Australia.
Some titles including The Vampire Diaries will start on GO! instead of the traditional Nine channel.
CEO David Gyngell talked about the the offering of the channel versus pay television.
“If you’ve been paying a thousand dollars a year subscription we might be able to give you a reason to save a thousand bucks.”
The youth-driven channel is targeted 14-39 year olds and available to viewers with digital television or a set top box.
CEO of PBL Media, Mr Ian Law said: “the launch of GO! is an important step in the evolution of free television in Australia. It means a significant increase in the choice available to viewers and advertisers on free to air television. We think the proposed schedule for GO! is exciting and as a Network we are focussing very much on having two channels with distinctly different content.
“We are already in the market talking with advertisers about our offering of Nine and GO! and it is a very exciting time for Australian television and the PBL Media Group.”
GO! will also be available on WIN. TV Tonight hints that there it could be GO! 88.

Nine news Perth just said it will be available next month.
Launching on my birthday? Awesomeness 🙂
This channel already sounds better than thier main one.
I don’t see how old skewing CSI & CSI Miami fit the demo reach for this channel.
9 Sydney have just had 3 ads for GO! in one ad break :/
What do comments which are their to add value to the article get deleted?
@Craig – The clip is on ninemsn
is Go99 going to be on iq1 for cable like one did with the SD channel
Oh I forgot to add, Where is Crusoe?
Also why would someone be getting PayTV for just Fox8 (which is basically what GO! is) I think they are dreaming if allot of people with switch off Foxtel/Austar because of GO! or any new FTA channel.
Now Seven what are your plans? I guess we might get a response soon.
Oh and ITA 9/9/09 looks like the launch date to me…
‘Just Shoot Me’ ceased production in 2003 – six years ago. You’d think they’d be embarrassed showing Channel Ten’s slops.
Thanks Max that explains the 8 and 88 thing for WIN, I guess for some areas that might be able to pick up both?
So will the HD also be the 2nd SD like TEN is doing for ONE HD?
I recorded it but can’t play back right now, will someone have the ACA clip up on youtube soon?
I just hope NBN won’t pull a SC10 and ignore this additional content channel up until it becomes yet another useless 24hr sports channel.
They confirmed that go will be on 88 on NBN whether it replaces the nbn hd channel i’m not quite sure
great news for the regionals if WIN shows on channel 88
So in other words the new channel is full of shows that 9 thought wouldn’t rate on their normal one!
Still, it’ll be good to see these shows hopefully in broadcast order with the potential for them to be taken off because of low ratings kept to a minimum.
Craig, Nine is 9 on Digital. NBN and WIN are 8.
I found it odd that on ACA Tracey stated that “GO will be available on our regional affiliate WIN HD”
they said it would be on WINHD, so does this mean like with SC the HD channel will be used for the new stations and the 2nd SD will go unused?
also will they be restarting the half-aired shows again from the start? it would make sense to restart them.
david ninemsn says that it will launch in august and sounds pretty confirmed. i also believed 9/9/09 at 9:09 was a good time to launch.
Alex T. i don’t think the orange is a major thing, ther places are showing pimk&green logos, i imagine they will be useing lots of colours, but you are right orange is yuck.
So 99% of the show most would have already seen if they wanted to, not that that is a bad thing as many may not have seen them. I might catch The Vampire Diaries if they fast track the new show.
With that name & logo, at least WIN regional & Nine Perth/Adelaide won’t be looking to tamper with the feed… I hope!
David, can’t wait to get more details,i’ll be checking out the tvtonight website everyday with great anticipation
looks exactly like what 10 hd used to be, programs that didnt rate well were put onto the hd channel. prob 2 good shows there
So do we know if they will us ch99?
BTW why is to Seven has 7 but Nine is 8 on digital?
Why are they announcing this now…
Unless the network’s having a soft launch, around 16 August as I have tipped for months, prior to the full launch on 9/9/9.
did we know 9 had vampire diaries, i don’t rememeber reading it on here? this new channel looks awesome, and may be the only way for 9 to redeem itself at this stage. they need to leave shows in the same timeslot for the whole season though like 10HD did, leave the usual 9 antics at the door if this is to suceed. on a side note this is like the first time i’ve ever watched any of ACA, i saw this post pop up and i switched over to see this segment, so go is already drawing in 1 viewer.
You’d think they’d have learnt their lesson going with orange 😛
