273 – That’s got to be the most comments ever for a ratings week!

  3. Craig July 27, 2009 at 7:08 am -

What happened to Harper’s island last night???

  4. Tony H. July 26, 2009 at 10:35 pm -

Not great figures for East of Everything. Thought the first series didn’t deserve a second chance. No likeable characters in the first series, so didn’t bother with this one. Viewing figures seem to agree.

  5. shaun July 26, 2009 at 4:51 pm -

great to see 7 back on top for sat ratings and the best news 9 coming 4th and that gives 7 a bigger audience share for winning wk 30.

  6. harry July 26, 2009 at 2:22 pm -

7pm Project must decide on 1 format and stick with it, it’s all over the place at the moment! Ten should give it time though.

  7. David Knox July 26, 2009 at 12:09 pm -

Kevin you can check this via the Ratings pages.

  8. kevin July 26, 2009 at 12:06 pm -

I noticed nine came forth on saturday. how many times has this happened this year.

  9. Jimbo July 26, 2009 at 11:06 am -

ABC’s East of Everything returned last night. It rated well for a Saturday night, but it could have done a little better.

Daytime tv on Saturday’s rate well, usually a few programs in the top 30. Seven has Saturday Disney and kids Mvie rating well, Nine has Today, Talk to the Animals and Lions Feeding Frenzy and Ten has the AFL.

  10. Jack July 26, 2009 at 1:29 am -

ouch neighbours going from 998,000 on july 17th to 677,000 on july 24th that isnt good.

does anybody think neighbours will ever rate over 1 million viewers on a regular basis like home and away does?

  11. dmc July 25, 2009 at 10:16 pm -

this shows roving enterprises is creatively bankrupt. they pick the worst possible format, where the only discussion that can be generated from it is how bad it is.

  12. Harry July 25, 2009 at 6:09 pm -

Ten had a horror Friday Night! They should keep Masterclass going, even though MC has finished.. something that would rate well.

  13. kevin July 25, 2009 at 5:53 pm -

haha… no suprise there of Neighbours’ number. They kept showing the funeral promo for two weeks, however, a lot of viewers tuned in to watch it, but then it was shown too late.

  14. Steve July 25, 2009 at 4:04 pm -

Does anyone think the backlash regarding the 7PM Project will negativity effect the ratings of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation and Rove?

@ Ducko, I just took a look back at some older comments and he was saying the same thing he is now.

What ever will Nine do if thet lose all the repeats and repeated repeats of 2 1/2 men???
How many hours would that leave for Nine to replace with other repeats of CSI..
Beard on Wednesday clean shaven Sunday..

  17. Ducko July 25, 2009 at 3:10 pm -

@ Mitch, I think he was being facetious?
Up until that point he had been one of the 7pm Project’s biggest claquers.

  18. Tepee July 25, 2009 at 2:50 pm -

@Andrew B – yes I agree, too much emphasis is put of lead-ins these days. While lead-in plays a part in ratings obviously it comes down to whether people want to watch the show, something that one must always remind those “rententionistas” about!

  19. Tepee July 25, 2009 at 2:40 pm -

Terrible numbers for TEN. Clearly no-one cared to wait to see Bridget’s funeral yesterday, nor anything else on TEN. But really do they have anything that will rate better on Fridays apart from Simpsons repeats? Don’t think so.

  20. Mitch July 25, 2009 at 2:03 pm -

“carrie is awful and i cant tell whether she’s being serious or not”

Can’t tell, or just not used to? There’s a big difference. I don’t mind complaints where people say “I’m not used to her saying serious news” but saying “I can’t tell” is just ignorant.

  21. ryan July 25, 2009 at 1:05 pm -

alright im over it!! axe the 7pm project!! dave hughes is shocking on it, and doesnt have a place, carrie is awful and i cant tell whether she’s being serious or not and that other guy is just a complete loser!

  22. ryan July 25, 2009 at 1:02 pm -

Burn Notice TEN!! bring it back and strick it on one of your fri slots or one of your wed slots!!!

  23. Janey July 25, 2009 at 12:29 pm -

The one encouraging sign for 7pm Project is its increase in Sydney, doing its best figures since Tuesday.
The difference with Taken Out is that it dropped a lot quicker doing 769,000 on Tuesday, 752,000 on Wednesday, 623,000 on Thursday and 672,000 on Friday of its first week. I think 7pm Project will be back over 850,000 on Monday.

  24. David Knox July 25, 2009 at 12:11 pm -

There’s a lot more in TEN’s slate than 7PM that stopped it from being #1 and I doubt they expected to be -even with Sunday’s soaring lead. Friday figures are regularly low for TEN with a lot of its audience out for the night. Next Monday it can expect better figures for 7PM, I’d tip around 800,000-850,000. But certainly to be shedding Neighbours audience is not good.

  25. George July 25, 2009 at 12:10 pm -

    @Kenny:
It’s sad.. As the show’s getting better the amount of viewers is going down.
The show’s heading in the right direction in terms of quality is what I meant.

However a lot of those who watched the first couple of episisode would’ve decided not to watch again, so the numbers for the first two weeks will be up and down a lot. Eventually people will come back when it’s better.

  26. Kenny July 25, 2009 at 11:58 am -

Andrew- Given 7PM lost 150,000 and Nine’s 7.5 Men gained 20,000 on Fri compared to Thurs will be interested to see what spin is put on next Monday’s figs for 7PM. Where 7 & 9 are over 1m & ABC just under 1m, 656K is pathetic. Week Sun-Fri figures are Seven – 27.6% Ten – 25.2% Nine – 23.7% ABC – 15.7%
    SBS – 7.7%. 7PM killed TEN being #1 Sun-Fri.

  27. Jerome July 25, 2009 at 11:42 am -

those 7pm numbers are now lower than taken out was at the same stage in its life.

i know “it’s a friday” but it all has to be taken into the axe calculation.

  28. Ducko July 25, 2009 at 11:34 am -

Well, Neighbours didn’t beat H&A this Friday. Surprise surprise.

  29. Andrew B July 25, 2009 at 11:18 am -

Thankfully noone has tried UK’s version of Masterchef on free to air. Its dribble compared to our version, food’s aweful and contestants boring.

  30. Andrew B July 25, 2009 at 11:12 am -

Alot of 7pm’s audience would be out on a Friday night, so that figure is expected. Ten should consider running it 4 nights a week, and doing something different on Fridays. Dance just goes to show the US versions of successful Aussie shows don’t do well (same story with Biggest Loser), but again, the main demo for that show is mostly out – so suggest a later or different time slot.

I think repeats of Masterchef would do alot better, and given that Masterchef almost doubled viewers in the last 2-3 weeks, there’d be alot of people out there that never saw most of the series. Could work well, I’m sure there’d be interest, but some would see that as overkill.

  31. Kenny July 25, 2009 at 10:44 am -

George, thanks for the report on 7PM for the 600,000 of us not watching anymore. “Heading in the right direction” (?) Dropping half its audience is not quite the direction TEN wants. Then again, many agree that it is heading in the right direction, towards the Exit.

  32. Brodie July 25, 2009 at 10:34 am -

So after 1 week on air, 7pm has lost half it’s premiere audience. Will be very interesting to see what sort of figures it returns to next Monday, if it’s as low as the 656k it got last night, it won’t be around much longer.

  33. Kenny July 25, 2009 at 10:24 am -

7PM drops steadily over the week from 1.2m to 650K. Even ABC News has 50% more watching. TEN @ #4 due to 7PM & SYTYCD. Ouch.

  34. David Knox July 25, 2009 at 10:22 am -

Goddawful night for TEN. Peaked at TEN News at Five and travelled backwards thereafter….not good enough.

  35. Andrew B July 25, 2009 at 9:49 am -

    @ Tepee –
    Last week: 5 Rush Ten 1,167,000 312,000 403,000 175,000 130,000 147,000
    This week: 8 Rush Ten 1,145,000 302,000 386,000 196,000 124,000 138,000
That’s exactly why I don’t understand why people continue to carry on about lead ins all the time these days as almost all shows rate on their own merit, not off the back of the show before it.

  36. anne July 25, 2009 at 9:45 am -

Where is Trouble in Paradise – a wonderful show and I looked forward to it every week. 20 to 1 is old, slow and boring.
