Nine’s new-look News set in Melbourne turned a contemporary corner with a colourful, versatile set with multiple plasma screens that finally adds a live backdrop of Melbourne behind presenter Peter Hitchener.
With multiple cameras the bulletin also allows Hitchener to talk to correspondents on location in a single shot and utilised new wide shots.
While Tony Jones was seated to Hitchener’s left, Livinia Nixon is on holiday with Today’s Steve Jacobs stepping in to present weather.

Well, my… don’t we all have nothing better to do.
I know I don’t.
Seriously who cares what the news set looks like.
Are we tuning in to hear 9’s version of the latest newsworthy badness and misery going on around us, or to be visually stimulated by glamour and flash?
Not sure why I have such a loyalty to 9’s 6pm news, and yet prefer 10s late news at night… I get far too much news in my life… perhaps I ought to claim that I watch it for research… that I am writing a series of murder mystery detective novels and the grim news makes for juicy story lines.
Oh ho hum.
Well, that part is true, I just haven’t found motivation of late to write about murder.
And let’s hope Sandra is having more fun and romantic success than me.
Great 2 see 9’s news chopper found Tim Holding!!!!
Livinia’s Now presenting The Weather for Nine Melbourne?Surprised to hear that but You know who I blame for the demise of Her and Ed Phillips Temptation. All Those Two and a Half Men D***heads who deserve to burn in hell.Ed and Livinia Forever.Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer Never.
Sometimes I hear Steve Jacobs sitting back down on his chair before they end the news. I don’t see the point of having the weather person with a chair. :/
