In season 2 Gabrielle lost her baby, Susan burnt down Edie’s house, Lynette discovered Tom had another child, Bree became an alcoholic and dumped Andrew on the side of the road and Danielle dated the murderer son of Betty Applewhite.

I’m guessing of those plot lines the device he’s wishing he hadn’t used so early is that of a complete “mystery neighbour,” like the Applewhite’s were.

the show can go as long as the actress are willing, the phrase “primetime soap” is very apporatie for the show.
