No so Good News for Dexter

TEN's start-time for Dexter tonight has been pushed back to 10pm due to a 90 min Good News Week.

dexterTEN’s start-time for Dexter tonight has been pushed back to 10pm.

It follows a 90 minute edition of Good News Week, which is pulling much better figures than the third ripping series of Dex (sigh!).

8:30pm Good News Week
10:00pm Dexter
11:05pm TEN Late News With Sports Tonight
11:50pm The Late Show With David Letterman

  1. Who here doesn’t love Good News Week.

Give me something like that anytime over the Crime Shows over at Seven or the Overdone Cartoons of SBS any time of the week.

  2. Last time they did it on Monday nights, it flopped. It gained better ratings on Sunday nights. Why don’t they switch it with Nurse Jackie??? I love GNW and Dexter equally.

  3. just as i predicted it started about 10 minutes late… note to ch 10 if your not really that keen on showing it then please dont bother at all… off to buy the dvd now.

  4. i’ve had my over-run ending at 11:20pm since way back when they did it to supernatural, according to the EPG even that is going to be kinda close, it says dexter is 10:05- 11:14pm

  5. The fact is Dexter is never going to rate particularly well on 10 when A)it’s already been aired of Foxtel first, b) more tech savvy users may have already watched the season through online methods and c)the DVD is out at video and retail stores.

  6. Ch10 played ep2 so late my IQ misseed the last 10 minutes (even with an overrun provision). Not good for this type of show. Mate of mine had the same problem. I got hold of a copy when the DVD was released last week. Memo Ch10 – ‘its the 21st century’

If CH 10 had any sense they would show the next season within a few days of it airing in America or else its ratings will never improve.

Dexter season 4, the rights for this are owned by foxtel channel, showcase(who previously aired the first 3 seasons Before 10).

  8. I have to agree with Craig.I have only seen GNW Once and think it deserves to go to 10pm.
How I became a fan of the show by default is I switched over to SBS for South Park but when I discovered It was the Anal Probe Episode that has been seen many times over I got fed up and Switched Over to Ten.Best Decision I ever made.

  9. I love GNW and don’t mind it running over, it’s a huge bag of fun. I am also a huge fan of Dexter. Its about time 10 gave Dexter a real time slot. At the moment they are doing a Dexter on Dexter.

  10. Of course no one is watching it, this season was on last year in America. Everyone who is interested in the show would have downloaded it (if they are able to), or borrow of friends who have downloaded it. This season is also already out on DVD.

Dexter is the type of show that once your hooked into it you’re not going to wait for when the TV stations decide to put it on.

Its only a couple of weeks to go till the new season starts. Yeh!

  11. T-mac, Good News Weeks runs at odd times every week, and it’s hard to really know whether this is something decided upon prior to filming, whether they’re allowed a lot of leeway or whether they edit the show prior to broadcast.

  12. I agree with William – despite poor viewer numbers, Ten has continued to show Dexter, which everyone agrees is an excellent show and doesn’t receive the mainstream ratings it deserves. If Nine were showing Dexter it would have been pulled from their lineup after 2 episodes. If people complain about Ten moving it back by 30 minutes then they should be asking their friends to watch it so as to bring it higher ratings and justify Ten keeping it at 930.

  13. Another reason why we need more multi-channels. If TEN had a third channel, they could play this at a consistant time each week. I’m still waiting for seasons 6, 7 and 8 of Monk. TV1 is still showing repeats of season 5, so I have no idea when I will be able to catchup, and torrents dont have enough seeds because of the age.

  14. Dexter isn’t a mainstream show, so of course its viewing figures won’t be as high. Moving it to a really late graveyard slot or dropping it completely would be a big mistake.

Same with Burn Notice. It has a specific audience, too. These shows need to stay in the schedule, unless the networks just want to appeal solely to the bogan viewers (which it often looks like).
