Shame that they cut a 91 minute movie down to 42 minutes of programming, 14 minutes of commercials and four minutes of Channel 7 news update and promos.

Journey to the Edge of the (celestial) Block would have been a more appropriate title, given it ended at Alpha Centauri and left out a few of the more interesting sights along the way (eg Europa).

This was rated the best show of the the day by The Guide (Sydney Morning Herald television). I wonder whether they were given the 42 minute hack or the full movie to review?

If you want to see the full version in one go (as Seven has a habit of editing these types of shows) it will be in National Geographic again next week Saturday 29th, and re-run Sunday, check your PayTV guides.

I often find with these types of docos that they spend so much effort on the graphics that the information content is pretty low. Flashy CGI is no substitute for substance. Also, NG are sometimes a bit iffy, pandering to the lowest common denominator (in the US that is .

I see the running time is 2 hours. Wonder if 7 will show all 2 hours in one hit or split it over 2 nights?
Also – it’s available in HD – will we get to see it in real HD on 7HD?

What’s this an intelligent program on 7? I’m fascinated with astronomy so this will be on must watch list.
