Something must be brewing on Thursday September 3rd over at TEN, with an amendment issued indicating a one hour episode of The 7PM Project.
But what could it be? Live cross to a movie premiere? Celebrity MasterChef tie-in? Too early for AFL finals or Emmys….
It is followed by a repeat of Rules of Engagement.

I am really interested in the subject tonight about soft drinks, i got addicted to diet coke after i followed a doctors diet before an operation and since then have started on Coke zero. I work in hospitality and the long hours are a killer and find i could drink up to 4 a day somedays. I had a chat to someone recently as i was complaining about my fingers being sore, all my joints were sore and felt something was really wrong and he suggested giving up coke? he explained that someone he know had been diagnosed with Multiple Scoloris (sp?) but didnt have it all but the symptoms mimic that of MS and as soon as he came off the diet drinks all his symptoms went away.
I have had a second hip replacement recently (i sound old but im 39) born with Conginetal hip disorder and find i have a real problem with my joints becasue of the diet drinks, i have just stopped two days ago but id really like to hear from the doctor on your show how to get rid of these symptoms as im now a bit scared about the whole cancer side you spoke about on the preview of the show? is there a way to get tested for aspartain poisning?
One of my staff at work was saying aspartain was banned in Canada where she is from becasue of how bad it is, she wouldnt even take a Borocca as it had it in it which i didnt realize? How is it that the FDA here in Australia dont ban it if it has this side affect most muggins on the street wouldnt know about???
Love to hear from you
In regards to Mr Carns’ hunger str; I appreciate both Mr Carns’ position and Mr Rudds’. I just find it ironic that Mr Rudd finds it acceptable to compromise on hungerstrikes from boat people that potentially constitute national security risks from foriegn countries that do not have a great track record of being amenable to Australia and its policies, but is willing 2 sacrifice 1 Astralians wellbeing in what constitutes a political backflip in policy over a couple acres of land. just a thought
just axe the sho w. it was a bust from the beginning
@Steve:
I agree. Jane Hall is a very lovely person, but she just isn’t getting into her role as well as the others. She seems very calm and all, but she just needs to get into the swing of it more if she was to become a permanant host.
The show has improved greatly since its debut and TEN will stick it., although one hour of these guys, at this stage, is too much.
Whoever said Jane Hall should be on more needs their head examined. She keeps interrupting discussions and adds nothing to the show (except a reason to watch something else).
Ten should have tried an hour show on fridays to catch up all that is happening at weekends. It is to rushed at the end and runs over time
Better than more simpsons.
I’d love to see the 7PM Project as a 1 hour show next year, so we can have longer interviews and so they can discuss all the news properly.
Even though it feels like they’ve cut down a fair bit of trying to shove stuff in, the type of show this is requires a larger timeslot to work with properly and be entertaining.
So next year could we see 7PM Project, then at 8PM Biggest Loser/MC, and then 8:30 or 9:00 whatever comes next?
Or of course they could be using this to fill in time on Thursdays before Glee starts.
JG thats not a bad idea, the only problem is that Dave will either have to give up his breakfast radio show or the “7am Project”. Though if ten did do it it probably wouldnt take long for it to take over sunrise as the show has had primetime exposure. The only issue with this is that ten will have to play the childrens programs that it plays in the morning at 3.30 and risk there very high late afternoon figures. Law states that childrens programing must be played either before or after school. Ten are number one in daytime (12.00pm – 6pm) because they sacrifice the morning by playing there childrens programs, in order to win daytime.
As for the expanded edition comming up, this could work or fail. We’ve all seen the strange phenominom with The Biggest Loser and MasterChef, especially at the start of there run, where it attracts like 0.800k at 7pm and 1.2 – 1.3mil at 7.30. the avergae looks like 1.1mil. Even the biggest loser at the start of its run this year was doing a little better, between 800 – 900k in feb, mid march this year. If this is a Celb MasterChef Aus stunt as expected, we could see a rise, and it could re-expose the show to a wider audience. I believe this is how MC and TBL built there audience, ppl channel surf after 7pm and found it on, then got hooked. 10 have gotta make sure the carrot is there for this ep.
Jane Hall should be a permanent panelist all week. She’s much funnier and natural than either Charlie or Dave. Have some night, eg Monday/Wednesday/Friday as 1 hour editions.
MC starts on the last week of September doesnt it?
Why not make it the 7am Project – Sunrise and Today need the competition and it would certainly be a good wake-up call – couldn’t be any worse in the morning than Sunrise!
Flogging a dead horse I’m afraid. They had a great concept and ruined it by making it like Rove with lame jokes after every news piece.
So much for “News but not as you know it”…
Well, I do know that Ten’s been pursuing potential contestants for Celebrity Masterchef as recently as a couple of weeks ago. I know someone who was approached to be on the thing and turned it down
So by September 3rd, them having a finalised contestant list makes sense. I would guess this will be a MC-related 7pm Project as well.
10 are sticking with the show nost likley until the end of the ratings year.
Maybe a trial to extend to one hour as some nights they simply do not have enough time to get through the guest interviews, and this could be the night for the bigger interviews (and how many are sick of being told to catch the rest of the interview on the website?).
Maybe more entertainment news and stories perhaps similar what Angela Bishop does on the 11am news on Thursdays where she presents something like 20 minutes of entertainment news and interviews.
If Ten are serious about this show, they’ll also continue it (maybe with guest hosts filling in for the time) right through the mid November – early February summer recess (instead of resting it), when there’s nothing on and more people will be inclined to watch.
stick with the 7pm Project, TEN…stick with it…its better now than it was when it first went to air, go to an hour length, it can’t hurt, its better than seeing endless repeats of the simpsons, rules and so on…
announcing contestants for a celeb tv contest surely doesn’t need it’s own 1/2 hour show. a segment on the orig show at the most.
i’d say this is just a way of casting the net further. which can only benefit the show, and ROE (R) would rate a disaster if it was left there. not sure if this will rate much better but good move nonetheless.
This is a good idea, there are times when it feels like 7pm Project runs way overtime, or easily could do, like last night.
If 10 can hold its nerve with this show, it could become a breakout hit, a lot of the kinks are slowly being ironed out and its starting to flow a lot better.
Plus its ratings have stabilised around the 750,000 range, sure its not 800,000-1,000,000, but its not 450,000-600,000 like Taken Out.
Matt Preston did promise to reveal the celebrities participating in Celebrity Masterchef on the 7pm Project.
Was always going to happen, 10 say that their 7pm shows always increase after 7:30pm so it will be an interesting attempt to attract more viewers.
The last hurrah perhaps.
I bet its the announcement of the cast for Celebrity Masterchef..
Maybe they are deciding to do an hour show on Thursday and cutting the Friday ep because no one watches it, or it could be a series finale.
September 3rd, 1939: At 11:15 a.m. British Summer Time (BST), British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announces on BBC Radio that the deadline of the final British ultimatum for the withdrawal of German troops from Poland expired at 11:00am and that “consequently this nation is at war with Germany”. Australia, India, and New Zealand also declare war on Germany within hours of Britain’s declaration.
It’s probably too much to hope that they’re doing something serious (or even worth watching). I had high hopes for the 7PM project, but as someone else described in a comment on this website, it’s basically just a TV version of the free newspaper MX.
Will the show last until Sept 3?
1 HR Grand Finale?
I suspect, and this may just be one man’s opinion, but they’re in direct competition with “Televised Revolution” 7-8 PM Thursdays on 4ZZZ 102.1FM. Is my community radio television current affairs program hurting 10 that much? Probably!
Interesting!
I’ll go with something MC related…
This seems to me to be familiar to the whole “BB intruders crash the house during Rove” thing that happened a few years back. It boosted the ratings of both shows
If I had to place a guess I’d say they’re revealing the celebrities on Celebrity MasterChef. Nice way to promote both shows if you think about it.
