Therese Rein to introduce ‘Dano’s’ Australian Story

By David Knox on August 7, 2009 / Filed Under Programming 1

danoTherese Rein will introduce an episode of Australian Story next week that profiles media personality Ian ‘Dano’ Rogerson and his wife, Nicole.

The episode will shed light on how ‘Dano’ halted a successful radio and television career to look after his autistic son, Jack.

Dano is best known for his professional partnership,  “Jono & Dano,” with Jonathan Coleman. The pair had a 10‐year run with top‐rating radio shows and national television exposure.

While Coleman went on to carve a successful career in Britain, Ian Rogerson all but disappeared for a decade, returning to national radio earlier this year.

In 1999 when Jack was diagnosed, there was little help for parents on what to do for their autistic children. But the turning point for Ian Rogerson and his wife came when they met Elizabeth Watson, a therapist pioneering a treatment called Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

This episode airs 8pm Monday on ABC1.
