Daniel not unless you want them late arvo! I’m still looking at how everything is / isn’t working at the moment anyway….
Hey David, now that the ratings are in watermarked images, could you please organise the info into columns?
The difference with 7pm Project and Yasmin’s Getting Married is that Yasmin was crap. 7pm is actually quite good, but needs a hosting re-think and a change in format. Decide if it’s comedy or serious, don’t have comedians to tell us serious news. It’s got the right premise but just doesn’t quite know what it wanst to be yet.
Blood Amazing Race, why the hell did they have to get rid of the hot guy the week before the running in your undies challenge. Good to see it getting 1 mil.
Double Take is very expensive due to its production costs. TV Burp less so. They should be getting at least 1.1m.
One for the ratings experts… What should Tv Burp and Double Take be rating for it to be classed a success and what would it have to drop to to be not doing their jobs? Would they be costly shows to run?
Hot Seat doing wonders for 9′s 6pm News.
9 News wins in Melbourne and goes close in Sydney.
That’s the closest I’ve seen the Sydney gap in quite a while…..
@ JG
Yasmin’s Getting Married started with 778,000 viewers on a Tuesday and by the Friday was strruggling to pull in 500,000 viewers that is why it was dropped as it was thought by the following week at the rate it was losing viewers it would be struggling to pull 400,000 by the Monday.
J-Lev and yes Will and Grace was struggling to get 500,000 as was Friends and Futurama, The Simpsons was doing about the same as its 6pm showings (600,000 plus), not sure on Biggest Loser but I think it was doing well as was Masterchef obviously, so apart from those two The 7pm Project is actually doing better than oyher Ten Shows have before (it is holding relatively steady as well).
Koverstreet i still think lyon and brayshaw are getting way to serious about certain issues , its supposed to be light hearted footy talk as for shane crawford well maybe trevor marmalade needs to make a come back
Frankie-Not the AFL footy show the NRL version. The AFL one is in the top 10 & owns it’s timeslot by a huge margin. I love the AFL one though I’m getting tired of too much Crawford and “frothies” Brownless. Bring Shane on to do his world record attempts and leave it at that.
7 & 10 have Million dollar babies (news & ACA / TT) juicing up 2.5 Men and Home and Away. Certainly doesn’t help fledgling show like 7 pm Project which has Neighbours (683,000) and Simpsons (622,000) before it.
And the peanuts who argue the lead-ins don’t matter – why does 7 & 9 spend so much on their game shows?
Every ad break has a tease for a show coming up next and one later that night, that is the beauty of good lead ins, it hooks the undecided viewer in.
Please, no one mention the ‘remote control theory’
JG – Yeah fair enough.
Though I wonder if anything would actually pull more than 700,000 for TEN now (except for the Biggest Loser and Masterchef type shows), as remember The Simpsons, Futurama, Will & Grace and Friends all failed to fire at 7pm for Ten as well, so what would they go with in that slot (Big Brother was pulled because it cost more for return at 7pm as well).
I don’t watch anything at 7pm myself as I am not home then, but I wonder what would work, would Smarter Than A Grade Fiver broken into 30 minute episodes work as some have suggested (or would the Rove factor be to off putting). Could Ten resurrect Blankety Blanks with Bob Downe as Host and put that in at 7pm (it worked for 0/10 in ’77 with GK), or do like they use to in the old days and have a different sitcom on each night at 7pm.
Then The Panel never rated in its first year and a bit and TEN stuck with that, so who knows maybe one day it will find its feet.
yep afl footy show has just about had its day, brayshaw, lyon, crawford, have that look of dis interest on their face, beleive it or not sammy newman is the only one worth watching and billy brownless
J–Lev – the point about 7PM Project isn’t just that it gets only 700,000 but also that it rates a dismal fourth in its timeslot – advertisors will be less inclined to plug their product when 7PM Project screens and more likely say to opt to advertise their products during Home and Away which gets nearly 1.2 million and targets the same demographic!
The issue I can’t understand is TEN pulled Yasmin’s Getting Married a while back after 3 episodes when it premiered in the 7PM slot and it wasn’t even given a month to find its feet. It was getting around 700,000 from memory…the same as 7PM Project. Everyone was calling it a turkey!!…and it was and Ten yanked it.
So why prolong the agony here!
7PM is a turkey and should be axed!
deal no deal is just about one of the worst shows i have ever seen
Wow. Look at the Footy Show. Only 772,000. Of which 516,000 were watching the AFL version. NRL show must be doomed.
@ Mak. Watching tv ratings religiously (specific the news) for over 20 years is what i’m basing my statement on.
All you have to do is look at the over all trends and 9news is slowly but unfortunately surely making gains in Sydney, Brisbane Adelaide and even in Perth (only 20k ish but in that market that is a lot). This is happening on ‘normal’ week nights.
You say “Unless there is a dramatic change, then I can’t see this happening.” Um, the dramatic change has been new news readers in Sydney and Brisbane for 9, new sets new logo new lay out of presentation. Re building the news from start to finish is kinda dramatic. Re branding is not an instant overnight success. It takes time to change peoples viewing habits and again if you look at the rating trend of most markets you will see consistent gains.
Not sure why you have assumed I am wishful thinking…..I grew up with 7 National News then 7 Nightly News so it’s 7news always for me.
Ratings are interesting hey, 900,000 to 1 mill is consider good but the 7pm Project averages around 700,000 odd over the 5 days it is on, but because it does not pick-up that extra 200-300,000 it’s considered a failure, wonder if the 700,000 odd who do watch would be disappointed if it finished or do they watch just anything instead of the other choices.
Good too see Rush getting over 1.1 mill, pity Burn Notice dropped 400,000 odd viewers (though 723,000 is still okay compared to other TEN Shows at 9:30pm apart from repeats of NCIS), not sure calling Burn Notice a cross between McGyver and Alias is a good advertising by TEN though (are they trying to get people too watch McGyver on Sunday Afternoons as well lol).
wow, look at hot seat. are people getting bored of deal all of a sudden???
TV Burp was great fun again and I was lol quite a few times. A shame the ratings don’t reflect how awesome this show is. The scene with that guy from bold looking like a wax figure was hilarious!
well to anyone that has ever asked why there is no aussie comedy on tv here is your answer:
TV Burp Seven 775,000
BM-dog, i don’t know what you’re watching but i find it quite good as do a lot of other people.
i think that 7 might be planning an early death for double take and replacing it with gary unmarried, the only other possible slots won’t be available for more than a month which is an unusually long time to promote a sitcom
after last week disappointment of an episode, I very much enjoyed this weeks TV Burp, and im starting to warm to the host.
He is starting to build up some recurring gags (like wax Morag), however it does worry me when he Burps a show Harry Hill already did (Undercover Princes) , and I would really like to apologise for the Trinny & Susannah, Great British Body show, but I would like to point out that it was not a hit over here.
That would be me Byron… Each day has the Top 30 then a random selection of shows across the remaining Top 100 so you can see somewhere in the week how big shows are tracking.
BM Dog. TV Burp isn’t canned laughter.
Watched TV Burp for the first time last night and it is truly dreadful. Despite having six – six! – writers listed in the credits they haven’t managed to get past the “dull and obvious” school of humour, and the handful of jokes which could actually be funny are ruined by Kavalee’s delivery. Not to mention the canned laughter is incredibly annoying.
I now disagree with Seven’s decision to switch TV Burp and Double Take, because Double Take is probably the stronger of the two. I mean, it has a lot of tripe (particularly the mean-spirited and offensive sketches about homeless people last night) but there’s the odd gem, which makes it a better watch than the consistently mediocre TV Burp.
Can somebody please explain to me why after the top 30 shows, the ratings for the shows that are included on the list seem to vary dramatically on a daily basis? i.e some days Sunrise and Today are included on the list with 360K+ viewers and other days Oprah and The View are on the list with only 170K. Other days neither are included. Are these shows’ ratings just provided on a random basis to provide an overview of the ratings, or are shows listed after the top 30 the top shows for that day also?
wow Hot Seat – 3 wins in a row. The momentum is building for Nine News to beat 7. Roscoe going could just be what tips that over.
Is this the first time Hot Seat has gotten over 800k?
@ wonder boy…..”within 3 months 9news will be winning 2 national night over 7news on Mon-Fri.”
Do you know somethig no-one else knows?
How did you come up with this realisation?
Change doesn’t occur by wishful thinking, you actually have to do something. Unless there is a dramatic change, then I can’t see this happening.
Personally Channel 10 should put in place Hamish & Andy on the 7pm project and allow them to do interviews, and be on the panel. Carrie although great to look at will never loose her stigma as a non serious newsreader. Every time I tune in (rarely) I’m waiting for her to say something about the story.
Personally I don’t think they need to repeat the news stories of the day. Anyone that wants news would watch the ABC news anyway they should focus on commenting on news and bringing to light other news stories from around the world that dont feature on normal tv, sort of like a “what the?” in news. 7pm is not the time for a serious show and unfortunately the bearings are off for the person producing it. Hamish and Andy run a fantastic radio show in the afternoon and they should consider adding segments/extending it to the 7pm project.
Personally Carrie should step aside. She’s not a fit for the program, I do hope some changes are made prior to the program being yanked off the screens. The idea of introducing a new guest panelist is a good idea. It should be light entertainment at that time and they should model it around before the game.
@ Allie
I totally agree with All Saints and as a prime example of a show set in a hospital (including an emergency ward), can be done in a realistic way, the British show The Royal Today on ABC2 at 7pm weeknights does it well (and it has a half running time to boot).
Frank in All Saints is as you say “is a totally unrealistic caricature,” much like House is in that show and look at how House numbers were down even on new episodes this year, one reason I avoid those shows is for those portrayals, I come home and do not want to be beaten over the head by these characters.
I am also a fan of Numbers though … so my opinion may be tainted … then if we all liked the same shows it would be a dull world … we would all be Stepford Wives going along mindlessly.
within 3 months 9news will be winning 2 national night over 7news on Mon-Fri.
thanks to all for their in put
To Allie thank god some one is on the same page regarding all saints attitude, would it happen in real life
Ravi sorry back after dinner not having a crack at you at all just asking your views but i do admit that seinfeld is my favourite of all time respectfully The Fox
@ Ravi – no Ruby annoys kme because she doesn’t seem to have any discernable talent. Tattoos and telling the world you are a lesbian every five minutes does not equal talent in my book.
I could care less if she is gay – what I do care about is her shoving it down our throats every time she opens her mouth.
I think there has been one episode she did not make some double entendre about her sexuality on 7PM and when the others asked her why the change of heart she said something along the lines of the bloggers were sick of it. So she is aware herself that she plays on the lesbian thing.
I am evolved enough to find something other than sexuality to complain about!
frankie fox, agree with you 100% about the needless and exhausting intensity of Aussie soaps. I always feel like I’ve just done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson after watching an average episode of All Saints. Lots of yelling, gesticulating, crying, smouldering looks, condescension and grouchiness. The character of Frank is a totally unrealistic caricature. Whilst I understand that many surgeons are self-centred egomaniacs who think the world revolves around them, it is illegal in this country to so relentlessly bully staff and speak to them as though they are garbage, as Frank routinely does. He’d be sacked in a nanosecond if he engaged in that sort of behaviour at the average public hospital Emergency Ward. Home & Away and Neighbours are so ridiculous, they are not worth commenting on.
@ Goonies – so what your saying is that Ruby Rose annoys you because she is a lesbian? Pretty shallow analysis.
I agree, performance wise, she’s not delivering a hell of a lot at the moment for the show but if she gets the right guidance then she will be a good talent for them. I think you’re too hung up on her sexuality to see the potential.
Ruby can’t help if that what the whole media world wants to know about her ‘life’ and at no stage have I seen her push her beliefs on to the viewer.
Don’t you just love Channel Seven’s oh so subtle attempts in their ads plugging the disabled in order to achieve ratings.
The Gerrard Gossens stunt has worked wonders for them on Dancing with the Stars as he is just about the only non Channel Seven celebrity left in the race. They’ve milked the fact that he’s blind and guaranteed a level of controversy in every episode!
And what about their promotion of the ‘deaf guy’ on ‘The Amazing Race’. I’m sure he has a name but for weeks there he was being billed simply as the deaf guy….
Is it just me or is being a little different just another excuse for networks to keep ahead of the pack!
Numb3rs is as good as ever agreed. The only thing I miss is the awesome opening theme that they ditched early on.
And not sure what it was about re Carrie but I agree she is just plain awful & a little stupid. As for “Sleeveless” Ruby Rose she’s pretty bad as well. Hughsie,Charlie and James are great though and the special guests like the awesome Matty Newton and Jane Hall are good. But for the love of all things holy please no more of that idiot Rove grr!!
FF I can’t help but think your having a crack, but in an effort to mend the fence I’ll start at the top
Seinfeld – a classic – t another example of a show where it took a few seasons before it got going. Respect for the person who persisted.
2.5 men an example of good enough to capture your attention should you not take it too seriously. However since 7pm project started I haven’t tuned in as much . I think people will get bored eventually but I wouldn’t take it off when its still doing those numbers for CH 9
Simpsons = 2.5 men
Earl is so so – premise promised a lot and delivered initially, but growing tired.
and you FF in what order would you rank the shows you asked about?
I disagree, Numb3rs is still good as I remember. Though I don’t usually watch it, I did watch it last night and it did pretty well – it certainly kept my interest for the whole hour. Henry Winkler may have helped also, but it still does have an audience and it performs better than House repeats.
I agree with the calls for axing Numbers – it really is a terrible show. Semi-interesting premise to start with but how many times can you conveniently solve the crime with an equation!
@ Ravi – not jealous of Carrie at all – if she was talented, attractive, smart, knew how to vary the tone in her voice – maybe, but at the moment? No.
Though I would rather have 2 Carries than one Ruby ‘I’m a lesbian’ Rose!!
Muzza – i couldnt agree more – i watch nothing on free to air that is drop everything- infact i watch a bit of hotseat and 7 news in sydney and then i go to foxtel everynight ( or my box set of the sopranos- thank god for that) free to air is a dreadful bore at the moment- AFL on foxtel keeps me interested on the weekend s but thats it..i used to watch the AFL fotty show on 9 HD until it was dumped a week or 2 ago …..Grrrrrrrrr
Ravi what about my name is earl, 21/2 men ,scrubs , simpsons , and my absolute favourite seinfeld ?
Ravi no it is not i was just wondering why aussies actors in soaps are so intense, for no apparent reason i have noticed this trend most ozzie productions , every one either frowns or has a look of disgust on their faces 90% of the time
7 have won the ratings year already as they are far enough ahead of 9 in terms of weeks won for 9 not to have a chance to catch up.
@Foxie – missed the boat on All Saints so I’m afraid I can’t give you anything that would be interesting.
Is it a favourite of yours?
“There is not one show on TV that is a drop everything and watch”
For me, Spicks and Specks comes close. It’s a breath of fresh air during the week.
Wonder if Wheel would still work at 5.30? It was a prime example of trying to fix something that was not broken and broke it. If they went back to basics and brought Burgo back it might work. DOND went extremely well in the US but like everything else on NBC died a quick death. The show is boring.
whatever happened to the idea of putting movies on t.v. , alot of people are going to watch
i would just like to comment about the lack of anything good an TV at the moment. There is not one show on TV that is a drop everything and watch and nothing at all interesting to watch after 9.30pm. When will the networks realise that if they put something interesting on we will watch. Just look at masterchef.
United States Of Tara started out with 1,276,000 and has dropped to 828,000.
Ten may be happy enough with Numbers though drawing with My Name Is Earl (628,000), if you look back to Week 30, 544,000 for House was it at 9:30pm for Ten and House was beaten by Earl (737,000) and Scrubs and did worse in Week 31 at 529,000.
Great to see Cold Case do well. It was an excellent episode. Agree about the twist at the end.
World’s Strictest Parents is doing extremely well. Next week they are showing another episode of the UK version. Smart, but sneaky programming, to stretch out what I think is a 6 part Australian version.
A shame about Numb3rs it’s rather cerebral at times despite being a cop show and probably doesn’t appeal to those who don’t like to think while watching tv. Smart cop shows like Numb3rs,In Plain Sight and The Closer just don’t have a chance against the Criminal Minds,CSIs and NCISs of the world on commercial tv.
So how long before Numb3rs gets yanked again?
Interesting that a show about parents keeps topping the ratings – expect to see the other networks now follow suit with anything to do with parents – will we see World’s Hottest Parents, World’s Silliest Parents, Worlds Strongest Parents…World’s Celebrity Parents!!…the mind boggles!.
Today Tonight were up to their advertorial best last night showcasing a certain stores (I won’t name them because that might constitute an ad) summer collection – every thing you wanted to buy in swimwear was on show – blatant ad or serious current affairs – you…or should that be ACMA…be the judge!!!
Another win to Hot Seat.
Good night for Nine overall with Cold Case doing well for a change. It was a great ep and well deserved. The twist at the end was incredible.
Ten’s top show, The Simpsons at no.15, the Project at No. 25. Maybe they could have Ruby kiss Marge, that may help.
Ravi can you give me your view on all saints please
Spot on Frankie.
Gooo Hot Seat..Another win over Deal!
This weeks been all over the shop. It seems like 100k people who used to watch DOND have just vanished. Have they all gone to GO! I expect Nine’s Thursday share to be down a bit tonight as the last Ashes Test will take viewers away from the Footy Show’s.
i dont know why ten bothers with numbers! its the weirdest cop show out there! plus its sooo boring esp when they talk so much about maths. those figures are shocking ! burn notice better get ateast 750,000! simpsons performed pretty badly for a season finale, great ep by the way! bet ten can’t wait till all their new shows come and then see what figures they get when ncis l.a and masterchef are on weds!
my name is earl came in at 28th i think it is a top show , any feedback welcome
Law & Order: UK (903,000) was up on last week’s episode (775,000), but even more importantly it was up on last week’s Law & Order: SVU (887,000). Channel 10 might have something to smile about after all… shame Numb3rs tanked (628,000).
the actors in all saints are way to intense ,aussie soaps all follow the same pattern, rude/loud/ condesending/ one only facial expression, always screaming at their boss / peers / friends and carrying more bagage than a jumbo 747 , pick any soap . i know i don t have to watch and i dont
If 7news in Brisbane permanently replaces Kay McGrath with Sharon Gidella I wont be sticking around. The writing really is on the wall.
tue has now become a pretty huge rating night and would be even with sunday easy! there were over 16 shows last night that topped the 1m mark! and 7 shows that topped 1.3m, good numbers for fta networks! who would pay for tv when u get everything u get these days? plus 7 is still to announce theirs and ten’s next 1 aswell
not a bad night for ten, ncis ep1 and 2 did pretty well and ep 2 beat allsaints:) 7pm project is doing on but not winning any demos for ten which is shocking! ten late news did well! pttr is still doing well for 7:( and two men is doing well for 9.
The 7pm Project must surely be due for axing soon. It’s viewer figures are shocking and can’t be tolerated long term in such a crucial timeslot. Totally agree with Idol starting with the Top 12. The audition weeks are cringe-provoking in the extreme and are simply not good television. Watching people embarrass themselves and being humiliated on national TV is not the stuff of boffo ratings, as Idol is proving at the moment. The ongoing Kyle soap opera hasn’t helped, either.
So good seeing the second ep of NCIS which was a repeat come in with 1.167, TEN would be happy!
@ Koverstreet. 7 News actually won by 226k if you want to be anal about it. I would call that a smashing considering 9 News had a stronger lead in. The 500k + leads we see 7 News have on other days, I would describe them as an absolute anihilation of 9 News
I actually get a LOL moment when people accuse others for working for a network. Especially when it is from someone like you Koverstreet, one of the biggest 9 fanboy’s on here.
For all those saying to axe 7pm Project, Channel 10 have confirmed they will continue with the show most likely until the end of the ratings year.
And like @salf, I agree that lead ins have nothing to do with how shows perform. Its a concept that goes back to the days where changing channels meant getting out of your seat, walking over to the TV and twisting a big knob a spot or two clockwise or anti clockwise. And then maybe even adjust your rabbit ears to make show you have the best reception for the channel you have just changed to. Thereby making it easier to stay on the one channel!
Interesting Today Tonight picked up viewers from Monday’s total (118,000 odd) and A Current Affair stayed behind them losing roughly 10,000 viewers from Monday Night. Guess I wasn’t the only one thinking the whole Hanna Children was overplayed with them getting the House, then it being renovated, then ACA broadcasting live from the place. (TT even picked up 9,000 extra viewers compared to the 7 News total).
@PD don’t worry about koverstreet, he/she is a 9 fanboy that lives to defend 2.5men as a quality show. i don’t think their judgement of a high IQ show is anything to take seriously.
@koverstreet – you have a complete misunderstanding of how somebodies IQ relates to the television that they watch. As if smart people only watch so called ‘smart shows’. As if in the world you live in people don’t watch ‘comfort TV’ for something to unwind to.
Last night I watched Packed To The Rafters and the start of season 3 of Mad Men. Obviously Mad Men was miles better than Rafters but not every show on your schedule has to be a mental workout.
what was on TT last night? that is huge especially when ACA was being competitive stringing out the hanna story, more than TBYG and up on 7 news, that usually only happens in the summer.
very good to see PTTR has a stable audience of 1.85+. great show. it has a reliable audience like all saints, home and away, and neighbors only we are talking 1.8-1.9. this is a dream situation for any show. and it’s a bonus that it won all demos.
7′s factuals took a hit. and the tuesday 2.5men’s aren’t going anywhere fast.
I think it is a sad reflection how the various network trolls get so miffed when something they don’t like rates well. Grow up people, life’s too short.
Great viewing last night – The debate about education and naming and shaming of schools on Insight was well worth a look.
Packed to the Rafters always pleasant enough to watch on a lazy Tuesday and the ever reliable All Saints hit its mark again last night.
I note on this site there was a considerable number of posts from viewers who were mightily disappointed when it was announced All Saints was going to be axed.
Those who like the show should start an ‘All Saints support group’ and try and convince Seven to keep it on.
I know Seven already has Rafters, Home and Away, City Homicide and they all rate well but so does All Saints and it’s a bloody shame this show won’t be around next year!
I read today some minor scandal involving Ruby Rose – could this be a lame attempt by Ten to get viewers back watching 7PM Project – sounds a little desperate if if is!
