Bumped: TMZ. Airdate: Speeders

tmzSome changes to GO! will see TMZ move back to 6:30pm from Monday September 14th with two episodes of Speeders to air from 7:30 – 8:30pm (corrected).

Speeders promises thus:

Following the work of the police from California to Kansas, in each episode we ride with the officers as they track drivers breaking the law and confront them with the evidence. We’ll see the best chases, the tearful confessions, the excuses and the outbursts as America’s finest pull over unsuspecting speeders.

On Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th and Friday 18th, Seinfeld airs from 7:30pm – 8:30pm.

However on Thursday 17th at 7:30pm it’s the pilot episode of Drop Dead Diva.

Diva will be off air on Nine for two weeks this month due to Farmer Wants a Wife finale and a movie but returns later in the month.

Oops.. Regarding my previous comment about programming changes, with GO! no longer repeating shows during the following day.. I later saw that I had missed TV Tonight’s earlier post “GO! adjusts for school holidays”.

In such circumstances it would be great if a television network such as GO! would take 5 or 10 seconds in a short tv sting perhaps at midday when the schedule looks different to mention that programming changes are short-term and due to school holidays. I have no kids in my life, so I generally have no idea when the school holidays are in effect. I just assumed the worst… that someone from Channel Nine was messing with the GO! playlist. lol

  2. Luke says:

It is really becoming clear to me who is running GO!…

Given my growing distrust of Channel Nine (the one that is always changing its spots) I wanted to hate GO! but I actually found myself watching it more often than not. Today I looked at the on screen EPG at midday when a second episode of Seinfeld started playing and realised they are no longer repeating all the shows from the previous night.. which sucks now that I was getting used to shifting my viewing around what suits best on different days..

I’m quickly getting over GO!.. If need be I’ll tell it to GO! away!!

  3. Belinda says:

Daniel, Nine still has the rights to series 5 of The Wire and hasn’t screened it yet. ABC has the rights to the first three series of The Wire.

  4. David Knox says:

It seems there were only 24 eps of The Jetsons in its original series from 1962-63. Nine doesn’t have the rights to the 80s versions so it actually gets a full playout at 6:30pm.

They will also be replayed elsewhere.

  5. Daniel says:

I was watching Fringe on GO!! the other night and I saw an ad for “The Wire” I don’t know how this show can be on GO!! when it is currently playing on ABC2. Could this be a mistake? it seems a little silly to have this show on two networks.

  6. Paull says:

TMZ is an hilarious if you think of it as a comedy show, or sad if you think of it as a bunch of people employed to chase celebrities/ anyone slightly famous and spend half an hour mocking their every day lives

  7. David Knox says:

Not now I fixed me error. Sorry gang.

  8. Andrew says:

but isn’t Speeders on at 7pm as per the article?

  9. Russell says:

I think as long as people are watching Nine OR Go! , Nine are happy.
I think TMZ will be the better rater of TMZ and ET, and TMZ skews way younger than ET – so Go! is putting it against 16-39 timeslot winner Neighbours to try and damage it and Ten. makes sense.

  10. newtaste says:

What time will Entertainment Tonight air on GO!

  11. mac says:

so tmz use to be on at 6:30 before? is this the third change to the 6pm time-slot then?, doesn’t make much sense to move the flinstones to 6 when you know your just going to change it again in a 2 weeks.

  12. Andrew says:

So Nine isn’t content with messing up their own schedule, they are now turning GO into a finger-painting mess…

I guess you can’t teach an old dog… etc etc…

And I guess that’s the end of the cartoon hour that GO launched at 6pm just a few days ago? And it was good to have Seinfeld in a consistent timeslot at 8pm each weeknight. But of course it was too much to expect Nine to show some consistency with its new channel.

Perhaps they should change the logo to “GO?”

  13. Love TMZ…sad is moving to 6:30….booo Go!

  14. Reubot says:

According to the post David made on the 15th July (“Nine confirms GO!99″) Curb Your Enthusiasm is going to on GO! eventually.

  15. bindi says:

just saw an ad for weeds season 3 while watching moonlight, it is coming soon, perhaps in the october strong launch? i’ve also been wondering what will take the place of moonlight since it doesn’t last too long, maybe vampire diaries? although that timeslot might not open up in time for a decent fast track.

  16. Vic says:

@JD: Sorry about that, just I wasn’t sure whether you had watched Curb before. Nice to see another fan :)

Well, Go has said that Curb will be on the schedule, so I guess all we can do is that it’s sooner rather than later. Judging by the promos (though it could just be a move by Go to counter the attention that ABC is getting) for The Wire, it does seem like Go is slowly getting around to putting some more shows into rotation.

@Craig: I’m assuming so, as that’s what they did with Fringe. That said, that’s not much a precedent to go on.

  17. Craig says:

Forgot to add before, are they going to start every show (aka Drop Dead Diva) from the pilot when it goes on GO!?

  18. bindi says:

i liked TMZ where it was, but so far none of the tweeks have upset me, i watched AFHV show like twice and i saw clips repeated so no big loss there, and there is still one night of CSI so no shows have actually disappeared from the channel, every show is still to be seen somewhere on the two 9 channels. as for canabalising the audience i sure don’t fall into that category because the only thing i watch on 9 is drop dead diva but i watch heaps of stuff on GO.

  19. JD says:

    @Vic

I understand that, what i ment was that in general there are good shows that aren’t getting shown at all yet there is plenty of rubbish littered throughout Go’s schedule.

Obviously Curb could never be shown before 9-30 but it should be in the schedule somewhere.

  20. Robert says:

Speeders is a great show I watch it all the time on TruTV

  21. Vic says:

    Yay! I actually enjoy TMZ.

@JD: Not a chance in hell. Curb is way too offensive to be shown in anything but the tailend of primetime (the c-word isn’t something that the regulators take lightly, and you can guarantee it will be said at least once per episode).

I would like to see Go slide a good comedy into that spot though. If Ten could be convinced, then The Office (US) would be a great choice. I doubt Seven would give up on Scrubs or 30 Rock, unless they were offered something good in return.

Maybe they could buy Monk and Psych off Ten? Both, especially the former have enough episodes stockpiled so that they could use it as a strip show.

  22. Leon says:

To put a spin on it, They are gonna take ‘Drop Dead Diva’ out of the main channel and put it ‘Recycled!’ AKA:GO!

  23. Rob says:

Funny how GO can be considered that good by comparing it to Nine. Both need alot of work (one channel obviously more than the new channel)

  24. JD says:

Any chance they will put something half decent like Curb Your Enthusiasm instead of the rubbish they are putting on at the moment.

  25. Craig says:

@Jay Jay – they had 50 h=years to get the main channel right LOL

I like TMZ it’s fun and not the usual crap coming from shows like ET or E! News.

  26. Belinda says:

Thank heavens I can avoid that TMZ rubbish now.

  27. jay jay says:

its a new channel. Give them a break. The official launch isn’t til October so they are trying to get things right. Try launching a channel and getting everything perfect. Whingers

  28. JohnTV says:

Actually, I think there is a bit more to be read into these changes. I suspect Nine is messing with some GO! shows because they are taking viewers away from the Main Nine Channel and not viewers from other channels. I have heard that Nine Sales have been doing a bit of research into where GO! viewers are coming from. Whilst GO! figures are counted into the Nine figure, it is a little bit different when you are trying to sell advertising time to clients. Its the concern that FTA have always had about the second channels cannibalizing the main channels.

  29. Craig says:

Great here goes Nine messing with GO! guess I’ll have to watch them closely to know when my shows are on, what of the lunch time encore David, will Seinfeld run from 11:30 – 12:30?

  30. Goonies says:

oh bloody hell Go! I was really enjoying TMZ at that time – I’m not giving up Neighbours for you!

  31. daqua_99 says:

All these “shifts” scare me … how long will it take for Nine to switch around Survivor, Fringe, Terminator, and GG?
