Gary Unmarried moves for Narnia

By David Knox on September 18, 2009 / Filed Under Programming 17

jmoHas Seven given up on Gary Unmarried already? Possibly.

The show airs next week along with How I Met Your Mother but a week later (yes in the week from hell) it isn’t playing.

Instead it is playing a repeat of The Chronicles of Narnia (2005) at 7:30pm.

As a result My Name is Earl is also out.

Last night Gary Unmarried took 800,000 -beaten by The 7:30 Report.

Seven’s plans for October 8th remain TBA from 7:30pm – 10:30pm.

The network has previously indicated it plans to fastrack a new season of The Amazing Race which premieres in the US on September 27th.

For the love of God, will someone please can The Amazing Race.

I feel this is because Seven’s plans were to fast track TAR, but since the ratings have declined, they may have gone cold on that idea. That’s really disappointing.

Damn! My definition of fast-tracking is maximum 1 week behind the US. This means we would be 4 days behind the US if Seven were to start season 15 of TAR on October 1. To make matters worse, they usually start with double episodes for each season. This means it won’t be fast-tracked and it’s looking like I will acquire this series from other sources. Shame on you Seven.

The Concept is outdated for Gary Unmarried.Nine tried years ago with My Two Wives but that died after two years in the nineties Now we have two and a half men.Anyone here who was an eighties kid and nienties teenager old enough to remember Diffrent Strokes and My Two Dads can possibly relate.

I’m with GL the ads were just awful and it’s not surprising to see it get the axe so soon.

Garry is an acquired taste but does get better, pity it looks like anything show to be shelved or stuck late night to see out it’s run. BTW any sign Ugly Better will make a return?

I wonder if printed TV guides will be up with all the chances in the next few weeks?

In the words of Kerry Packer-”Get this s**t off air!”

Haven’t minded GU. It’s perfect for watching over dinner instead of something that requires a bit of concentration.

Another thought is that school hols start in Qld this weekend, so maybe they’ve held off showing GU for the next two weeks. I don’t think that’s the reason but it might be.

This shows that viewers here simply don’t like comedies that are not actually funny, such as Gary Unmarried and Rules of Engagement.

I hope TAR stays in the 8:30pm timeslot because Glee is on at 7:30pm, it’ll be so hard choosing which one to watch.

But Jerome, if that was the reason, they could have just used up the few remaining Earl episodes instead.

  15. Andrew B September 18, 2009 at 6:54 pm -

Agree with Jerome, but possibly TAR and BATG may end up the other way round. At least by Oct 8, there’s no more footy shows at 9.30 on 9 so Thursday nights could be 7′s if they plan it right.

  16. Jerome September 18, 2009 at 5:30 pm -

i rekon the only reason 7 put GU there was because they needed half hour programming at 7:30 to sort out all the mess that the AFL causes.

i think it will just be:
    7:30 TAR (FT’d)
    8:30 Beauty and the geek
    9:30 Gary unmarried
10:00 My name is earl final eps – or the other way round.

800k last night is not too bad considering how it was doing the last few weeks. if it was kept there it would probably beat glee next week.

If the commercials were showing comedy highlights, then it’s no wonder it failed. It looked to be horrifyingly unfunny.
