Reality radio: Idol and AGT talent replace Kyle Sandilands

dm2Australian Idol host Andrew Gunsberg and Australia’s Got Talent judge Dannii Minogue will replace Kyle Sandilands on 2DAY FM while he is off air.

The two have been named as his replacement for The Kyle and Jackie O Show following the suspension -again- of bad boy Kyle Sandilands.

The switch follows the former Idol judge’s remarks about Magda Szubanski, on the eve of her new show The Spearman Experiment.

Minogue is understood to be filling in for at least a week.

Sandilands also insulted newsreader Geoff Field.

  1. At first I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, but the insults Mr Sandilands made to newsreader Geoff Field were the inexcusable and totally unprofessional. He went on and on for nearly 5 minutes. There is no question any longer, this man should not be on our radio.

  2. By the way,I don’t like Jacky O either! I would walk off the job if I had any knowledge of a stunt planned like the 1st (previous) 1 than be involved to any extent. Especially from a “women’s”perspective! and still couldn’t warn him to”stop.Hasn’t she got any depth,or is it just in her purse.Then she instinctly laughs at this 2nd incident, before realising and coming to her senses.

  3. As long as Andrew G and co do not bang on about “my mate Kyle..he’s alright…poor Kyle”

    It’s interesting to note certain comedians of late have all passed some comment on Kyle, using wit, clever humour and subtlety. There was an episode of GNW and most of the panel had something to say, especially Julia Morris, as did James Mathison on the 7pm project.

    The list goes on, Dave Hughes, Rove, Merrick and Rosso, Gretel Killeen…etc

    Could anyone be more disliked in the biz?

  5. Can I just point out that Jackie laughed at the joke before checking herself and issuing a gasp at Kyle’s comments. She clearly thought it was funny so she is as much to blame as Kyle.

  6. I can’t stand Kyle, and don’t listen to him. But here’s my two cents.

    Advertisers are skittish. When a show is rating well, and times are good, advertisers will pay to be associated with you.

    When times are tough, and there’s a whiff of blood in the water (ie negative publicity – even with big ratings), the advertisers are out of there. Advertisers don’t want to see their brands tainted.

  8. Jackie hasn’t been suspended she on air this morning as was Geoff it ws Jackie, Andrew, Danni and Geoff – quite a good mix of chemistry I thought.

    Not sure if Andrew G would want the gig permanently.

    And David offending Geoff on the show is part of the gag – it would onyl be the millionth time that has happened.

  10. im sorry but 2day and austereo need to make a decsion once and for all, Kyle has always been a so called ‘shock jock’, some people some to like that and its delivered good ratings for them but they cant have someone like him on air and them suspend him everytime he says something controversial, thats what a ‘shock jock’ does – creates controversy. I cant stand Kyle, I think hes arrogant and talentless but Austereo need to decide once and for all this time whether they keep Kyle on air and just put out th bushfires he creates as they occur or whether they decide enough is enough and sack him and wash their hands of him once and for all, that said, the deciding factor for austereo will be advertisers, surely Kyle is now something of a poisoned chalice for 2day FM, he may well bring in good ratinsg but if advertisers dont want to be associated with his show then all the ratings points in the world are worth bugger all..

  11. its very difficult to see Kyle coming back from this, at least this year, surely advertisers will be well and truly scared off now after two major gaffes in a month, Dannii will probably do well, she’ll have a good personality for breakfast radio, she wont be available long term though, the the live X Factor shows in the UK arent to far away.

  17. yes poor jackie O being dragged down with him everytime, not only does he have no regard for his own career but he obviously doesn’t care about hers either, this just further illustrates what sort of horrible person he is.
