Returning: Moonlight

Update: Good one, Nine. Bring back a show that didn't rate the first time, was axed in the US and is already playing on GO!

mlBizarre Channel Nine programming move #984:

Bring back a show that didn’t rate the first time, was axed in the US  and is already playing on GO! anyway.

Moonlight, featuring Alex O’Loughlin, is back on Nine at 10:30pm Tuesday October 13th with the episode “Fleur de Lis”, one of 8 remaining episodes yet to screen in Oz. Is Nine’s cupboard really so bare?

Presumably, it’s also enough just enough eps to see Nine through to the end of the ratings year. The show has been airing on GO! at 9:30 Thursdays where it still continues.

For the record, fans were screaming at Nine at the time they pulled the cult show in January 2008, but it’s taken 21 months for them to respond. Crazy.

Update: The same episode will actually air first on GO! on October 8th, now at 8:30pm, swapping places with Gossip Girl now at 9:30pm. Technically that means Nine now has its first catch-up show that already aired on GO!

Alex O’Loughlin will also pop up in Three Rivers on TEN in October.

  1. It was a great show and I was very pi**ed that it was cancelled … but Nine are just complete clowns to be putting it back on … it is astounding just how incompetant they are!
    Jack!

  2. I loved Moonlight and I have enjoyed seeing it on Go!, but it absolutely astounds me that nine has so little in their viewing library that they have to double up on a show that has only 16 episodes and is already screening on their digital channel. They have many other shows which many people are eagerly waiting to return but instead they do this…..Nine seriously need to shake up their programmers or give them more coffee because I think they are all asleep at the wheel

  3. Sad and laughable at the same time. I was one of the fans that pleaded with Nine to finish airing the season that the rest of the world had already seen, but in their wisdom (yeah right!!), they shelved it. The cupboard must be very bare for them to reach for that shelf now. How pitiful and embarrassing for Nine. Glad Ten has got Three Rivers. They seem to respect their shows more than Nine. Alex is a great Aussie talent, who is well and truly on the rise.

  4. I can’t believe they would do this,so now we have it running on two of Nine’s channels at the same time and a year ago we couldn’t even get it on one, don’t get me wrong I love Moonlight but…..dumb programing Nine.

  5. Forgot to add,
    @richoTB
Hardly call it screwing with the programming, more like a minor tweak.

    1. gossip girl moving to a different time .
    2. Looks like we will still see all episodes played out in order on GO! , just that they are also showing them on nine in high definition !!! and for some weird reason 5 days later they show it on their main channel.

  6. WTF? So Nine doesn’t air this for almost 2 years then shows the same eps on 2 channels less than a week apart! Just when you think things can’t get weirder. What next Weeds will bob up on Nine soon?

BTW I watch this way back when it was current and new, too late Nine!

  7. the previous bizarre programming move before that was to put 2.5 men on (new episode tonight) and then go back to big bang theory as normal next week (according to advanced guides)

    what the ??

  8. Go! hasn’t even officially launched yet and they’re already screwing with the programming…be prepared for the 2.5 men and 20 to 1 takeover if this keeps up.

  9. too little too late 9, no one will remember the first half it was almost 2 years ago and anyone who has been watching on GO will continue doing so there. why the swap with gossip girl? is moonlight in repeat doing better than new gossip girl?

  10. Very Bizarre. I was a fan of Moonlight and very dissappointed when Nine didn’t show continue showing with the series, even once axed. I’m not sure whether I will watched. For starters, its been too long making it harder to remmebr all those interesting little things that happen over time during a series. Secondly it’s Nine, whose to say they won’t change their mind and just stop showing it, and I don’t have Go yet (like Travis).

  11. What the hell?! Then again, Nine are morons when it comes to programming schedules.

O’Loughlin was cool in his brief stint on The Shield. He left that show to star in Moonlight. Damn.
