I thought Kochie may have flown out to the scene this morning because he wasn’t on for the conclusion of Sunrise. The rest of the team was, but that’s another story.

Prayers go out to all the family in Samoa…. Recieved a ”tweet” from Sunrise saying that Simon Reeves has arrived in Apia to report on the affected areas….

9 is also having a special bulletin that will be available online from 10pm. They are labelling it a special event.

I believe 9 is also doing a bulletin at 10pm.

Did any Australian network beside the ABC send a team to Samoa?
If I were a news exec at one of the commercials I would constantly have a team on standby to travel at a moments notice around Asia-Pacific for such an occasion.
And I would have activated it around 5am this morning when the story broke a significant tsunami had been generated.
Natural disasters, terrorism, other human disasters like air crashes are a common thing in our region. News departments always need to be ready. I reckon they could do a better job.

The Tsunami is breaking news and all that it’s affecting is a repeat of Family Guy.

Agree good move – especially for the people who weren’t home for the 6pm news and will also allow for an new information since then.

  17. Ben September 30, 2009 at 5:22 pm -

This is a good move by 7. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come in the future.
The news is of course terrible but at least they arn’t going to sleep as it is often said once there 6pm bulletin concludes.
