The Andromeda Strain coming

andromeda-strainSeven will soon bring us Ridley Scott’s 2008 miniseries The Andromeda Strain.

This updated reimagining of Michael Crichton’s classic novel stars Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack, Daniel Dae Kim, Rick Schroeder and Christa Miller.

The miniseries, about a team of scientists who investigate a deadly disease of extraterrestrial origin, aired in the US as a four-hour, two-part miniseries, in May 2008 on the A&E Network but didn’t get positive reviews.

Maybe this will be used as a warm up to FlashForward?

The original Andromeda Strain film in 1971 was directed by the great Robert Wise and was nominated for two Oscars.

Keep you posted on an airdate…

  1. I’m honestly surprised to see any minseries these days. They really are a dying breed, not helped by the fact that most recent ones (usually featuring the name “Robert Halmi Jr” in the production credits) are terrible.

  2. If this is the same mini-series that aired on PayTV (one of the movie channels I think), then it’s a bit sad. Continuity was thrown out the window. Not a patch on the Robert Wise take.
