Day One trimmed to 4hr movie event

US 'global catastrophe' drama featuring Australia's David Lyons has been trimmed from 13 eps to a 4hr event.

Planet_EarthUS sci-fi thriller Day One will now become a four-hour event movie instead of a 13 part series.

The move by NBC follows ABC opting to launch V as a four-hour event in November before resuming in February.

Variety notes that the change is expected to allow NBC the option of proceeding to a series if it is successful, as happened for the Battlestar Galactica revival on SciFi.

Day One, which revolves around the aftermath of a global catastrophe, will launch after the Winter Olympics. NBC executives say they’ve always looked at Day One as more of an event.

The cast includes Australia’s David Lyons plus Adam Campbell, Catherine Dent, Julie Gonzalo, Derek Mio, Carly Pope, Thekla Reuten and Addison Timlin.

  1. Another show I can’t wait to see… from what I’ve heard, Day One looks like it’s gonna be Big and Great! Thinking we’ll be seeing more than just 4 hrs of this one….

  2. um, have any of these commenter seen the trailer. looks like absolute rubbish. the acting is hilarious for all the wrong reasons and the people that did the CGI’s really should work for a disney cartoon.

  3. I know Adam Campbell from Harper’s Island and the dreadful ‘Epic Movie’, and Catherine Dent from The Shield, and that’s about it. Looks like good SciFi though 🙂
