By David Knox on October 22, 2009 / Filed Under News 26

karlDid Karl Stefanovic accidentally leak news on Hey Hey it’s Saturday this week?

Stefanovic and co-host Lisa Wilkinson were interviewing the man of ‘ten-thousand sound effects, Michael Winslow, on Wednesday morning.

At the end of the interview here’s what unfolded:

KARL: “Alright Michael, it’s always good to see you here… and we’ll see you next year on Hey Hey it’s Wednesday, hopefully.”

MICHAEL: “Absolutely, what a great show. And I’m glad to see everybody’s back. Glad to see that show back on the air. Good onya.

KARL: “I don’t think anybody knows about that yet, but anyway….”

MICHAEL: “Uh oh.”

Indeed.

Nine is yet to make any official announcement about the future of the show for 2010.

    Rick 6.11

Hey Hey it’s HD – great idea then we can really get a good look at Daryl’s ‘work’, the crap set and the blackfaces.

I despair in Australian TV like this.

LMAO at Bette Streep & Mr Do-Bee comments below!

I hope by then it will be produced in high definition. I don’t really watch it, but hope so for others that do. Why, in 2009 and into 2010, are so many Australian tv series not produced (or at least screened) in HD?

Wednesday does make sense. More viewers = more people watching ads = more profitable show. Live TV is expensive stuff after all.

Don’t you just love Karl, he’s the man!

Stefanovich is cute but dumb. Hey Hey is dumb and ugly.

Michael Winslow is hilarious – if Hey Hey can return then surely Police Academy??

Seriously I expect Daryl, Wilbur Wilde, Russell Gilbert and John Blackman will definately be back.

Molly as mentioned is contracted to 7 so won’t return. As for Red I believe his contract with 7 is a bit ‘looser’leaving some more leeway as to whether he can work for 9 – and besides Australia’s Got Talent appears to have ended…

I doubt Ernie Carroll (Ossie Ostrich) will return – he’s 80 now and I think he would have quite rightly tought that he’s given TV a fair go. Jacki McDonald won’t be back either.

Be interesting how the mix of old/new cast members go next year – with or without black and white minstrels…..

No surprise here given 2 million plus watched the two reunions. A weekly show would not rate two million every week, but it would give ch 9 the win for the night.

Well i doubt that Molly and Red would be involved. I mean Molly is contracted to Seven and Foxtel and i doubt Seven will let him be on the rival networks show full time and although Red is contracted to Aust Got Talent i dont know if he is allowed to take part in Hey Hey.

I dont think it should be a weekly series but then again Nine will do anything to get that #1 back. I dont think Hey Hey alone is going to do that. But why the hell is it going to be Wednesday? Its supposed to be Hey Hey its Saturday.

As for the leak its a set up. I hate Karl Kraponovic so i dont listen to a word he says anyway. But it will be true.

Heard a rumour that Dickie Knee won’t be part of the new Hey Hey because he’s contracted to Seven. Golliwogs are being auditioned to fill his role.

I can’t believe this show is coming back… WTF are you doing 9? This isn’t the 1900′s!

  12. koverstreet October 22, 2009 at 11:39 am -

@john jackson .. would be great if it’s weekly although I’d be happy with a dozen or so specials each year. Hey Hey is such a great show and I’m extremely happy to see it back and the untalented team of Rove off the air :) :)

Nine is still using Hey Hey heavily on its promos, is there really any doubt it will be back?

    Whoops!

Wednesday?? sigh… Hey Hey It’s Wednesday it shall now be.

  18. Dick October 22, 2009 at 9:52 am -

Well Nine don’t seem to worried about it if they didn’t edit it from the Michael Winslow segment on their own website.

  19. John Jackson October 22, 2009 at 9:45 am -

Woohoo! Let’s hope it is on weekly as well!

  20. Neon Kitten October 22, 2009 at 8:43 am -

If that wasn’t a deliberate “leak”, I’ll give up the internet.

Look at the transcript. That’s a set-up exchange.

  21. Macarthurblack October 22, 2009 at 8:08 am -

    Nooooooo, not Wednesday!! Saturday… Saturday!!!

“Michael: “Absolutely, what a great show. And I’m glad to see everybody’s back. Glad to see that show back on the air. Good onya.”

Perhaps, but not likely, Michael was speaking in the past tense ;-)

Whoops, the cat is out of the bag now Mr Stefanovic.

That’s what’s so great about the live morning show concept. Often you will find them giving away little (or big) things like this.

    Well done Karl!

  24. Allie October 22, 2009 at 7:29 am -

Stefanovic is a lightweight moron. This gaffe from him doesn’t surprise me.

  25. Josh October 22, 2009 at 7:09 am -

I had to wait six minutes just to see karl say something that we already know
