I think the networks will have to look at converting to MPEG-4 if any more channels are to be added, especially HD channels.

Where Ten run the show in metro areas ONE is HD (1) and SD (12) while regionals (and Canberra too) are HD (50) only.Tasmaina may have a different channel number (not that its important).

Ten indicated they will start a new channel replacing ONE SD (12) and I guess 55 in regional areas in 2010 but there is no idea as to content start dates and anything else other than it can happen.

With ABC now having 3 x SD channels will ABC HD be a genuine service or part time or non existent?

Prime are likely to add 7TWO soon enough. Just because the banner on 72 isn't showing doesn't mean it wil be delayed like ONE into regional areas.

I think for non-HD (or Hi SD quality) sports/ sports programmes on ONE, they should cut to TEN HD and leave the One SD feed going. Just a thought.

Rumours are about that Ten may start a new channel next year rather than simulcasting ONE HD on their 2nd SD.

Speaking of freeview, any more suggestions as to if or when TEN will be putting out a 3rd digital channel, now 7TWO is about to come on air?

Thanks for that link. I've just sent a query about why everything on the HD channels is branded as HD when most of it it obviously SD just uprezzed! I expect no sensible reply!

mac

Regional areas don't get ONE SD, and Darwin & Mildura doesn't have ONE HD yet. So Freeview doesn't mislead in that respect. I'm glad Freevuew does not mislead with 7TWO with Darwin. I wish Nine and GO! was more honest. I'd much rather put up with delays if Freeveiw was really honest with the people.

it's a good idea having having the site listing which channels are available in which locations considering all the confusion, the problem is that is seems that a lot of the info is wrong which does the opposite and just adds to confusion.

Why is it that Freeview endorsed SD and HD Set top boxes are around double the price of normal Set top boxes? It's a big put off for consumers, I certainly won't go near Freeview endorsed equipment.

Angry Face: Yes I see that. But I also see the advice I was given by Seven. No guarantee it will be this Sunday on Prime which is why I reported date TBA.

With 'coming soon' in its spot, it looks like 7TWO is a long way off in 'regional' Newcastle. I hope seven (sorry. I mean Prime) airs Reaper and Heros, and doesn't just leave them on 7TWO, geez they really advertised Reaper quite heavily towards the end of 2008 saying 'coming 2009', if i had of realised This is what they meant... then again it is seven.

Yes, they fixed it after initally on Friday having 7TWO logos all over the place even in regional areas that may not be carrying 7TWO at this stage like Darwin (Darwin had 7TWO there three times!). But the site still shows that GO! is available in Darwin when it actually doesn't yet.

TVTonight said that 7TWO would be coming to Prime. So why does freeview.com.au not list 7TWO for any of the Prime regions?
