By David Knox on October 28, 2009 / Filed Under Programming 3

aldaAndrew Denton is returning to television, as promised, to front a new series of Elders with Andrew Denton.

Six new episodes, filmed in New York, London, Dhaka and Alice Springs will profile seasoned individuals who have a world of wisdom between them.

The first subject is MASH legend, Alan Alda, aged 73. Actor, director, playwright and author, Alda will discuss his psychotic and alcoholic mother, his ‘muse, salvation’ and wife Arlene, and how she guided him through the pitfalls of fame.

In these conversations pieces, Denton will again focus on qualities gleaned from experience, shared for those who are willing to attend.

Also set to appear are broadcaster Clive James, zoologist Richard Dawkins, indigenous elder Rosalie Kunoth-Monks, human rights advocate Helen Bamber, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus.

It returns 8:30pm Monday November 16th on ABC1.

newtaste, I don’t think it is replacing 4 corners, 4 corners will be finished for the year. It is coming close to the summer non-ratings period.

Alan Alda is an interesting interview subject – even though I’m not a fan of Denton I’ll watch it to see what Alda has to say.
