I agree with the comments about showing Today in a late night timeslot on 7Two and I’ll add that Nine should do something similar with GMA. The US Morning shows are surprisingly good ‘before bed’ shows.

If i’m not wrong i believe they show the whole nbc today show on saturday morning unedited from 4am to 6am which is their main show from 7am to 9am.

NBC Today is on at 4am because the lucrative 1am-4am slot is taken up by endless years of paid infomercials for pimple cream and a shonky telemarketing company, repeated night after night, month after month, year after year until regular late night viewers want to kill all involved.

I’m sure once 7TWO viewership figures are in, we’ll see more of the same over there as well. After all, us late-night viewers are all lonely, gullible fools who need to be conned out of our money, right? We don’t wanna see news!

News time on 7TWO… doesn’t sound shabby at all. I mean, I only watch at that time during the holidays, and I wouldn’t tune into 7TWO sport. But I’m sure that 7TWO is a work in progress, I’ve seen the Nov/Dec guide and there are a few changes put forward.

Ah bryant,jane and willard those were the days. I remember being a little sad when bryant retired in 1997 though matt has been a great replacement.

Still matt,meredith,al and anne are a great combo as well.

Reviving “News Overnight” sounds like a good idea for 7TWO (possibly also for 7HD).

What other news services, does Seven have access to?

Obviously, a full NBC Today Show, would be mandatory, but they can try and fast track in that slot, Dateline, the US version of Meet The Press amongst other things.

As for mornings, the chances of Agro coming back, are slim, due to Jamie Dunn’s ties to Brisbane talk station 4BC, preventing a live program.

I can almost see the opener… “It’s Time… for News Overnight, on 7TWO”

If 7TWO do take this on at a decent hour, Aussies would see how a real morning news show is supposed to be like. Not the drivel we have here Today and Sunrise.

I can’t believe these shows pass as newsworthy. I find it a joke that they both look at front-page news stories on newspapers. Yes, we can read.

News in Australia is rubbish anyway.

7TWO could do a lot worse than to bring back NBC Today to midnight (ish). At least then it might get some viewers unlike having it buried at 4.00am.

But then the show still isn’t the same without Bryant, Jane and Willard

I still tape the show but would rather watch it at midnight like the old days.

It’s hardly news when Seven airs it six hours after it airs east coast USA. I stopped watching when Seven moved it and started to heavily edit the show because I got sick of waiting to see promoted segments that never screen because of editing.

The co-op portion of the program (when NBC affiliates take local news at 7:25/8:25) was some of the most entertaining television I’ve ever seen- Bryant/Matt and Jane/Katie sitting on the couch and chatting and joking about whatever, Katie often breaking into song- better comedy than Murphy Brown. They used to show a highlight segment of the funniest bits at Christmas.

Seven need to return it in full from midnight. As someone with zero interest in AFL, they may as well run test pattern and music.

We record it sometimes. Agree with it being on 7TWO late night. I remember the days as well of “News Overnight” on Seven. Long before infomercials infiltrated laste night TV we had news on Seven, music and other shows on Ten and movies on Nine. At least now GO offers programming 1-5am or ONE if you want sport. ABC1 for really old movies.
