Ten seriously need to start advertising one hd in primetime on channel 10, i very rarely see whats happening on one hd without having to go to the channel ( which i don’t ) if ten did what 7 are doing like coming up on ten and also coming up on one hd i think it might grab some more viewers, plus alot of old farts out there prob wouldnt know there is a one hd

  2. matthew November 1, 2009 at 9:11 pm -

Wow, these are the shows that beat the the 7pm project on friday night
Deal or No Deal, Hot Seat, Spearmint Experiment, mean girls, harry potter, 6pm simpsons

The two big surprises are Mean Girls (Are there people who haven’t seen it yet?) and Spearmint Experiment!

  3. mark zanker November 1, 2009 at 7:04 pm -

@jerome take a look from this weeks media watch from abc. they brought out an a current affair story fudging the facts on refugees. mind you all stations make mistakes like that from time to time but a story does not help their news department.

@wambue 30 rock is not a big ratings even in america. my guess is that the sitcom laughtrack or not sadly is a dying art. which is sad as i like to laugh.

Dexter was a good episdoe last night and im looking forward as to how he talks about his feelings with miguel “missing”

A massive ratings for midsummer. Australia must love kooky brits. Even at 28 i don’t mind it from time to time.

Worlds fastest indian was a great film i just hope ten don’t over repeat it too much. Love actually comes to mind on that topic.

  4. Jerome November 1, 2009 at 5:39 pm -

what is going on with 9 news. the numbers it’s been been getting lately are so low. some of the lowest october ratings ever. someone will say daylight savings but 7 DLS never has this much impact this early. and 7 is still getting its usual figs.

  5. Mr. Do-Bee November 1, 2009 at 2:26 pm -

Is that figure for Nine News Sydney correct (149,000)?

  6. David Knox November 1, 2009 at 2:06 pm -

Flashback: 50 Years of Channel 7 : 199,000 in Brissy.

  7. shaun November 1, 2009 at 1:52 pm -

David you wouldn’t know how the 50 years flashback went in brisbane on friday night i thought i would of rated well for them but didn’t see it in the ratings for friday.

  8. gerry November 1, 2009 at 11:33 am -

Saturday Disney holding up strong against Weekend Today: Saturday. SD must also be doing well in demographics.

  9. Craig November 1, 2009 at 11:12 am -

Didn’t notice how much of a dive 2.5 takes on Friday nights.

  10. gerry November 1, 2009 at 11:03 am -

Bad Friday night for Ten. Better Homes continues to rate well. Today Show shines in Melbourne, thanks to the show being in Mebourne City. Hot Seat losing numbers.

  11. Leigh November 1, 2009 at 10:51 am -

Two episodes of T&HM don’t even reach the 1 million mark.

  12. Peter November 1, 2009 at 10:38 am -

i feel sorry for poor TEN on a friday night.
hopefully next year they can get some good programming for the second half of the year, 16.4 is nothing!

  13. wamdue October 31, 2009 at 7:55 pm -

I sometimes wonder if 30 Rock is too NBC for international audiences, what with it actually being set in NBC Studios

wonder where the Friday ratings are

  14. shaun October 31, 2009 at 5:20 pm -

    whats happened to fridays ratings?

  15. frankie lupo October 31, 2009 at 1:53 pm -

@bette streep 30 rock is a great show, glee and rush i have not watched much, so at this stage i will wait a while before commenting on them, human behaviour i have plenty of that

  16. Harry October 31, 2009 at 12:39 pm -

    Bette Streep,
Rush should stay at 8.30 – 9.30 it too late. Lie To Me Works for TEN on Tuesdays anyway but I agree Glee would be better on Tuesdays 7.30.

  17. Andrew B October 31, 2009 at 12:33 pm -

Couldn’t agree more with Jed about Hughesy. He should not be on 7pm 4 nights a week and brings nothing to the show. It’s much better without him on Fridays (even though the ratings are lower but that is a result of people not being home).

  18. bette streep October 31, 2009 at 10:38 am -

frankie – I don’t work for a media outlet – am interested in human behaviour though.

When 2.5 men were first aired – it bombed – and I thought that was the end of it. Nine succesfully marketed it over the non ratings period and now they have a bona fide ratings success – even thought it is the same show that initially bombed!

I don’t understand why this unfunny sitcom is a ratings success when clever original and hilarious comedies like 30 Rock are buried at midnight (well not anymore thanks to Seven2!)

Speaking of which – Glee and Rush should be rescheduled. These are 2 top quality shows that deserve much better.

I’d put Glee on 7;30pm Tuesdays and put Rush on 9:30pm Tuesdays. Whenever Rush is up against another crime show like Criminal Minds or CSI it suffers. Put it up against Private Practice and give viewers a choice.

  19. Leigh October 31, 2009 at 9:31 am -

Wow. Nine News and ACA below 1mil, being beaten by Seven News and TT.

  20. Jed October 30, 2009 at 11:34 pm -

Mott mentioned they were still tinkering with 7PM Project didn;t he, do we know what he’s considering? I find the show so much more enjoyable without Dave Hughes, and although I do prefer Charlie, Andrew G hasn;t been bad. With no H&A, maybe no 2.5 Men over summer it could pick up a bit of a following. All Ten need to do is listen to what we’re saying on how to improve it. Ten are usually the only network who actually listen to viewers.

  21. Jed October 30, 2009 at 11:25 pm -

@frankie lupo, basically, people hear a laugh track, so they laugh as well. Doesn’t mean they actually/necessarily find it funny, but they hear the laugh track, laugh themselves thus assuming it must be a funny show. If that makes sense. I know what i mean. Arrested Development, 30 Rock, The Office three great comedies that don’t have a laugh track and they have no audioence at all here. Australians wouldn’t know when to laugh.

  22. frankie lupo October 30, 2009 at 9:52 pm -

@ bette streep having read your coments over a couple of times i just wonder which media outlet do you work for

  23. frankie lupo October 30, 2009 at 9:41 pm -

@ jed sorry i do understand what you say, but i dont understand what bette streep sez or means i am not trying to be cryptic with my answers just honest

  24. Jed October 30, 2009 at 8:25 pm -

@frankie lupo, can’t speak for bette streep, but that’s not what she said, she said her neighbour likes 2.5 men cos of the laugh track, cos she hears the laugh track and laughs as well. I think that’s prob why so many people think it’s a funny show, they play the laugh track so much, that people feel forced to laugh, thus thinking that since they’re laughing so much, it must be funny. And i do think laugh tracks influence people, last night watching Glee, my mum only began to laugh at things when i did. When i wasn’t in the room she hardly laughed at it.

  25. Dino October 30, 2009 at 7:44 pm -

The expensive Rush was absolutely humilated by the cheap trash Beauty & the Geek last night. Rush is so lucky it was picked up when it was, because its current numbers, considering the pathetic competition, are a joke!

  26. gerry October 30, 2009 at 5:53 pm -

Eventhough this probably won’t happen, Nine should seriously consider moving the Today Show to Melbourne permanently. Thursday’s ratings were up in Melbourne because the show was there for Thursday and Friday for the Melbourne Cup. And Today generally wins in Melbourne, beating Sunrise.

However, Today has also picked up recently in Sydney, so they wouldn’t want to ruin that.

  27. Harry October 30, 2009 at 3:58 pm -

It really disappointing to see Rush’s figure drop to 890k – thats not good enough for 8.30 timeslot and given the quality of the show it should be doing above 1 million every week. It was doing 1.3 mill once upon a time.. Next weeks episode will probably be the best one of the season for many fans so Im hoping TEN promote it for what its worth.

Soft figure for Beauty & Geek, will drop below 1 million next week. Burn Notice pulled a fantastic figure for TEN. Glee and Amazing Race should be pulling higher figures as well.

  28. Andrew B October 30, 2009 at 3:38 pm -

Since when did ratings reflect quality TV? More like a lack of options in some time slots.

  29. Jerome October 30, 2009 at 3:06 pm -

i am really loving beauty and the geek. so much entertainment in one hour. last night the challenges were hilarious.

the Aus version is so much better than the US versions, australias casting is really well done. and the production values are so much higher. just look at the amazing race after it and the decline in quality it noticable.

  30. frankie lupo October 30, 2009 at 2:40 pm -

@ bette streep and thats why you hate 2.5 men because of the canned laughter, amazing !

  31. vid October 30, 2009 at 2:26 pm -

    @ tarzy
if 2.5 men is crap…why does it rate so well???
say what u will buddy… its a awesome show regardless what network it would of been on!!

if u dont like it..then dont watch it or make silly comments

  32. Matt October 30, 2009 at 12:56 pm -

‘Ouch’ is all I can say about the figures for Glee. The show deserves to do a lot better. Last night was a cracking episode! Probably the best of the season so far.

  33. ryan October 30, 2009 at 12:53 pm -

rush isnt doing that great for ten and last nights ep was pretty good, same with glee, should be getting higher ratings. Burn notice has grown in the past 3 weeks and now past 800,000! totally awesome show! lets hope it picks up more next week

  34. MUZZA October 30, 2009 at 12:46 pm -

guy, you say that in america thursday is the biggest night of the week but Australia its pretty light on. Have you seen the quality of shows that are on Thursday’s? Its terrible and TV as a whole is terrible at the moment nothing is a must see any more. When are they going to put good shows on.

  35. salf October 30, 2009 at 12:42 pm -

B&TG is quite possibly my favourite aussie show ever. anyone that is not watching it is really missing out. one of the few shows that the whole family can sit down and really enjoy. so many LOL moments.

a rare win for home and away last night, not really a fan of the show but any aussie show that can take down those awful 2.5men repeats is good in my books.

it is a surprise to me how successful burn notice is for ten. never watched it but good on it. but significant drops for secret millionaire and TAR.

GW is creeping up on glee, will probably overtake it when glee slips into repeats in 2 weeks. and rush is lucky it was renewed when it was. wouldn’t be renewed so easily these days.

9 news seens to be affected by DLS more than 7. sub 1mil news ratings are not usually seen until the peak of summer.

  36. tarzy October 30, 2009 at 12:14 pm -

    I Hate 2.5 men… crap show…

  37. Guy October 30, 2009 at 12:09 pm -

This is another reason i think of why Grey’s should move to Tuesdays. The viewers are not around on Thursday and while Seven would be happy for it to get 1.2m viewers each week on Thursday i believe that it could get better ratings on Tuesday. Its a strange one though, Thursdays in America is the biggest night of the week

  38. Lewis October 30, 2009 at 11:52 am -

I really, really hope Seven don’t look at those figures for TAR and pull it. Those are horrendous figures. The answer wouldn’t be to take it out, it would be to swap it with GW, which ruins their night.

  39. daqua_99 October 30, 2009 at 11:51 am -

@ BrettD – Another reason Sydney is better than Melbourne :P

  40. sam October 30, 2009 at 11:39 am -

how on earth does geek get 1mill…???? horendus show

  41. Craig October 30, 2009 at 11:16 am -

Not a huge win by Nine and yes ITA Glee/Rush should be doing better.

  42. pmm October 30, 2009 at 10:45 am -

what is happening to Thursdays?? It appears to be coming a consistently low rating night! Glee and Rush deserve much better numbers.

  43. Adam October 30, 2009 at 10:36 am -

I’ve noticed how much more popular Family Guy and American Dad is in Melb compared to elsewhere. Get on board non Melb people! they have been around a long time now but its not too late!

  44. Rutzie October 30, 2009 at 10:25 am -

The Amazing Race should be on a 7.30pm, the ratings it’s pulling at the moment prove that it’s definitely not a 9.30pm show. B&TGeek seems to holding up pretty well around the million mark each week. Just out of curiosity, has any show ever pulled exactly 1,000,000 other than B&TGeek last night.

  45. bette streep October 30, 2009 at 10:14 am -

frankie – my elderly Italian neighbour doesn’t understand English very well and she tells me she loves watching the show with the 2 brothers.

I asked her why she enjoyed it so much and she replied because when she hears the “laughter” she laughs along!

Yep – she likes 2.5 men because the Laugh Track makes her laugh!

She also enjoys factual shows like Border Security because she laughs at the people who are caught!

And her viewing habits are important – because she is one of the few with a people meter!

  46. Jed October 30, 2009 at 9:08 am -

I’m gonna need another dvd recorder. 7Two starting next week Tues i’m gonna have PTTR, NCIS, Survivor and Reaper all on at once. Wednesday City Homicide, NCIS:LA, Spicks and Specks and Heroes. And tot hink people were complaining there’s nothign to watch anymore on FTA. I’ve got too much choice.

@BrettD, yep those figures explain everything. Melbourne has and always will bring down the IQ in this country.

  47. ryan October 29, 2009 at 10:23 pm -

i think ten should bring either new law and order s.v.u or house eps to weds 9.30 to replace ncis repeats.

  48. Kuttsywood October 29, 2009 at 10:04 pm -

Even on vacation, I can’t get away from this topic. Big news story, TVQ wins the slot, giving DoND a default win. It plainly proves, if better news were placed in that slot, Ten would outperform the competition.

  49. Tepee October 29, 2009 at 6:08 pm -

Celeb MC is doing well in total people and great in the demos but being beaten by Border Security rpts and 2.5 repeats is not good. The increase for City Homicide would be heartening for fans. 9:30 still very close with nothing much on the commercial nets but crime, crime, crime.

  50. tasmanian devil October 29, 2009 at 5:37 pm -

I have to admit, I will be pleased if Hungry Beast doesn’t return for another season. The format is still unclear (is it comedy, news, current affairs, entertainment, Chaser clone) and I originally hoped it would achieve what The 7pm Project didn’t, but it now seems to be even worse. Superhuman on the other hand was good, shame it only got 96,000.

  51. ryan October 29, 2009 at 5:01 pm -

CM won all key demos, ten would be happy with that

  52. Harry October 29, 2009 at 3:57 pm -

TEN wouldnt be very please with Celeb MC. I thought last nights ep wouldve pulled big numbers considering Rachael Finch was on the show. Good to see NCIS LA with over a million, its was good last night. Who in their right mind would watch Border Security Repeats.. ?

  53. Brodie October 29, 2009 at 3:28 pm -

The Border repeat single handedly fixed Seven’s Wednesday woes. Nice to see City Homicide build, last nights ep was probably one of the best this season.

@ Guy, 2.5 Men consistently wins 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 at 7pm weeknights. It does have a sizable over 50’s audience, but not as high as Home and Away.

  54. BrettD October 29, 2009 at 3:16 pm -

I’ve noticed alot of discussion of 2.5 Men so I thought I present % of viewers by capital city. There is the opinion that people who watch the show are brain dead bogans. Well for those that believe this to be true you can see which capital city has the most bogans per capita.

    Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Adelaide Perth
    2.5Men#1 288000 433000 276000 86000 140000
    2.5Men#2 304000 401000 241000 97000 136000
    Average 296000 417000 258500 91500 138000
    Population 4,399,722 3,892,419 1,945,639 1,172,105 1,602,559
    % 6.73 10.71 13.29 7.81 8.61

  55. Guy October 29, 2009 at 2:38 pm -

I have a question what are the demo’s of Two and A Half Men because one thing i know is that a lot of the Over 50’s buy this show on DVD. I have so many older people buying it in the shop its not funny. I think the show is rubbish and never watch but it would be interesting to see the demos for Men.

  56. Ben October 29, 2009 at 2:19 pm -

Axel, if 9 continue to play double eps of Survivor, they will get through Tocantins and Samoa in time to fast-track Survivor All Stars 2.

  57. ryan October 29, 2009 at 2:00 pm -

7pm project bombs ( again ) celeb masterchef was good and good to see ncis still over a m.

  58. DAN October 29, 2009 at 1:34 pm -

@bette streep i couldnt agree more with you

  59. Edu October 29, 2009 at 12:22 pm -

    @bette streep
There’s nothing wrong with viewers continually watching 2.5 because of its entertainment value but there is Something wrong with viewers continually watching factual shows.

  60. Nick October 29, 2009 at 12:10 pm -

ABC should dump Hungry Beast and move Safran to 9pm.

Don’t want to be mean but Hungry Beast is a boring pale imitation of the Chaser.

  61. Nik C October 29, 2009 at 11:53 am -

More people are watching TV on Wed nights. I find some of the figures susprising..It all looks quite even in the 8.30 time slot. It looks like Spicks and Spekcs has lots some fans, while CH and CHC have gained a few.

  62. frankie lupo October 29, 2009 at 10:57 am -

even with all the people not watching 2.5 men its still rating its socks off, they must be doing something right.@ bette streep why do you hate 2.5 men so much, you have canned the show at least 20 or more times that i have read in this forum, cooking shows are old hat with absolute dozens of them in t.v. land, and thats probably why 2.5 men are doing so well, so the way i see it is more cooking shows =
higher ratings for 2.5 men, lets have more celebrated chefs on t.v.

  63. Jerome October 29, 2009 at 10:54 am -

very good to see CH up. what power a good lead in has.

ten doing well but i think they would be expecting much more from CMC and NCIS:LA. they haven’t relly taken off. CMC coming 3rd in its timeslot behind repeats and factuals is not a good sign.

  64. Jamie October 29, 2009 at 10:17 am -

I dont understand what people see in 2.5 men, watched it once never watched it again, and i never will

  65. Lewis October 29, 2009 at 9:54 am -

Another brilliant episode of City Homicide. Picked up a bit in the ratings as well.

  66. bette streep October 29, 2009 at 9:48 am -

oh come on now! Two episodes of 2.5 men in the Top 10 – both beating the vry entertaining Celebrity MC???

    What is wrong with viewers?

  67. ryan October 29, 2009 at 5:56 am -

lie to me should pick up next week with less competition and hopefully ncis will pick up aswell. simpsons was pretty good last night which is good to see.
I think its about time ten moved ten late news to either 11pm or 11.30 and had a program before it to keep viewers, 10 could be getting around 600,000 from 10.30 -11.30 with a good program.

  68. Tbone23 October 28, 2009 at 11:29 pm -

    Dear god,
channel 9 please don’t air CYE if your going not to air the full episode don’t waste our time…

  69. jjreed October 28, 2009 at 9:00 pm -

    Hungry Beast is on tonight.

Let’s see if I am accurate what the general direction of the show will be tonight:-

    Boat people.
    America is evil.
    The west is evil.
Someone about the rich/middle class being evil and uncaring.
Uni student “you’ve get to care about all the issues” crap.
Kooky hosts (the type that were all laughed at when a uni and belonged to all the political clubs).

Let’ see if it comes true.

  70. Craig October 28, 2009 at 8:51 pm -

@Dino – yes the All Saints final rated well but a final like that was always going out on a high, can’t compare it to Rush and the others on different networks.

  71. Tepee October 28, 2009 at 6:28 pm -

Huge ratings for All Saints’ finale, not to mention PTTR. Ladette to Lady is doing sickeningly coming in fourth behind ABC1.

  72. Dino October 28, 2009 at 5:56 pm -

1.5m at 9.30 is a fantastic result for All Saints. How embarrassing that shows like Rescue, Rush (and probably City Homicide) have been renewed with less than 1 million viewers in an earlier timslot.

Rafters trending upwards again, will probably see a season high next week with a combination of the wedding and big promotion throughtout the Melbourne Cup.

Hilarious result for Ladette to Lady. An absolute joke and it is recieving ratings it deserves.

  73. brooke October 28, 2009 at 5:46 pm -

Cry for all saints. Best show ever made!

  74. chk chk October 28, 2009 at 5:26 pm -

I take that you weren’t successful auditioning for Ladette to Lady then?

  75. Axel October 28, 2009 at 4:33 pm -

One reason Survivor: Gabon did poorly was because all the die-hard fans watched the series “elsewhere”. It aired over 12 months ago in the US.

As for Tocantins, been there done that. Survivor: Samoa is excellent and it probably won’t air on 9 / GO! till who knows when.

  76. Harry October 28, 2009 at 3:52 pm -

All Saints did really well for its last ep ever. Im happy that NCIS is holding its ground against Rafters.
