Adam Hills will host a 2009 “British Comedy Gala featuring John Cleese” on TEN in two weeks time.
The special will air following the Australian Idol finale at 9:30pm Sunday November 22nd.
While details of this one are a little sketchy so far, it’s possibly an event that was held in May at Toronto’s Just For Laughs comedy festival, a spin-off from the Montreal festival.
John Cleese actually hosted that one, with stand-ups including Jimmy Carr, Mark Watson, Gina Yashere and Ross Noble.
Cleese was also due to appear at a similar event in Montreal in July but had to cancel due to being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Keep u posted on this one, in this thread…

Why do we need local hosts for replay of shows overseas? Is it so this will qualify as new “Australian” content to meet broadcasting obligations?
Won’t get quota points for this. It isn’t Aus produced (or NZ) and it isn’t scripted drama or doco. Thinking it’s just to give an Aussie angle….
geez i didn’t know cleese had cancer. Good luck and hope he beats it!
Ahh, yes! When somebody mentions British comedy to me, I automatically think of Network TEN… ‘Seriously.’ 😉
