Airdate: Stargate Universe

By David Knox on November 27, 2009 / Filed Under Programming 30

Stargate-UniverseNo surprises here… Stargate Universe will follow TEN’s Supernatural on Monday nights in summer.

The series kicks off from 9:30pm Monday December 14th.

But TEN will only screen one hour of the series premiere, which aired as a double episode on the Sci Fi Channel, as TEN is committed to its TEN Late News & 7PM Project repeats.

At least it’s a pretty quick turn around from Pay TV.

I watched sic fi from 1960 , star trek and the stop that after 67 showers , but stargate universe has a lot more in it. The story still goes where they find the mesage after a big battle . the starship is damage but is saved by stargate allantis it’s a good story and and stores to come

Hope i am not giving you to much bad news, but Stargate Universe has been axed in America, so season 2 will be the last of the episodes that we see, my kids are not to happy about this as they love this show, at the moment, my friends send me copies of the show for the kids to watch, there is only three more to go and that it.

There is so many of us that have complained about it going off, but no one has picked it up for season 3 yet.

I f***** so pi**ed off at Ch 10!!! i love that show and it is very interesting show than SG:1, SGA. and they stuck in massive ship and no where to go. god please bring it back and i brought Stargate Universe DVD : Plot and i thought it would be whole season but it wasnt whole season it just one episode.

Guys the commercial stations make their money from advertising. stop complaining here or to the stations. no money in it. If you want them to listen complain to the companies who advertise. Tell them that you will not buy their products because they support the commercial channels behaviour. If enough people complained this way pretty soon the tv stations will listen because it all goes back to money. so next time you see a show you like, take note of who is advertising and go from there.

the only thing that makes sense is tens budget has gone under so they are making room for big shows that more people watch, eg teh biggest loser is now on in the SGU timeslot, which for some reason gets more viewers (dunno whats so interesting about watching fat people sweat) and the rest of teh time they play move/tv repeats which they allready own and so dont cost much to put on as filler. Basically they are just poor.

if channel ten axed SGU then wouldnt the rights be bought by channel 7… They all ready have Stargate Atlantis on 7 two and have previosly aired stargate SG-1. I recon its just a matter of time.

  7. Ashley January 17, 2010 at 11:27 pm -

If channel 10 have “axed” SGU, wat does that actually mean? Are they gonna put it on later in this year or sell it to someone else? This stinks

The guys who run channel10 must have less brain cells than their big brother contestants (never thought that was possible)

I have to agree with the people who have stated that they put up with ads to watch this, when it is much easier to watch it on DVD or elsewhere. The amount of crap repeats that are on doesn’t make it worthwhile.

thanks for getting my hopes up,watching stargate universe and then axed, what is up with you guys, its all gone to crap

Hmmmm No Stargate universe I am not a happy girl its the 1 show that my kids and I sit to watch together… Thanks channel ten, I turned off the TV. Sorry to all the ppl that count on ratings Not………………

I agree totally. Don’t mind what day or time it’s on, just Put it back on …..
Stargate has always been an entertaining and interesting show where the audience has to (heaven forbid) actually think a little to understand. I don’t normally watch any kind of TV at all but I would make time for Stargate.

  12. Jon January 10, 2010 at 4:54 pm -

Why can’t they at least screen (SGU) it later in the night, or sell it off to one of the other free to air channels, they seem to be repeating anything and everything.
I was just getting into the heavy story line and characters.

  13. Katrina Hancock January 10, 2010 at 12:57 pm -

It’s so bloody typical of channel 10. Start airing a new show Stargate Universe & new episodes of Supernatural on a Monday night get everybodies hopes up then they just disappear for god damn repeat boring movies.
I will never again rely on channel 10 to do anything right by it’s public.
I’ll never watch another show on that channel ever again.

  14. Should have known better January 9, 2010 at 10:08 pm -

I should have known better than to rely on ten to air a full season of Stargate, or anything for that matter that isn’t mindless crap. They obviously have no desire to cater for viewers who like to follow a series with with a challenging concept and a plot. …ten are defenitley the ‘people magazine’ of the free to airs..Bloody W*nkers.

Yes its true Channel TEN Sydney programers Cancel Stargate Universe after 4 Eps, Lets us all boycott Channel TEN Sydney they only show repeats of the same crap like 9am, hueys cooking adventures , sex in the city, Neighbours, Dr Phil, or The Oprah Winfrey every week.
Why dont they dump these shows.
I cant wait to watch The new series V on channel Nine looks good.

  16. Mike January 8, 2010 at 12:03 pm -

Really enjoyed the new Stargate Universe and looked forward to monday nights .
Was happy to suffer throught the huge amount of adds
Now its been axed . Well channel Ten you can kiss my butt i wont bother to watch your crummy chanel again yes its official you suck

  17. Pete January 4, 2010 at 9:49 pm -

    10 killed it off!

Cant believe it. Ch 10 has killed off SGU!?

Absolutely pathetic 10. I was putting up with the adds because it was something new, but now, I’ll just download the movies and avoid all the adds. So…let me do the math here….hmm….they’ve lost my viewing….lost my patronage on a Monday night…& I’ve gained the film faster and without adds…..hmm, yes, looks like 10′s programmers are less than smart.

I been a a Stargate fan for many years I have all SG1 and SGA plus DVD,S and all the toy figures and other stuff. ( I have only seen shorts of SGU on the Internet ) But judging from all the comments seems like I am going to be disappointed. Brad Wright and Rob (Robert C) Cooper ”If what others are saying all over the world ” try and put some old flavour into the new serious. ( make it fun, adventuress and action packed ) Not a soap opera like Battle star Galatera was.
    Regards
From a Faithful viewer of the old ( I will be watching the serious starting Monday night) Hopefully a faithful viewer of the new.

No doubt the Networks will treat this the same as every other sci-fi show that airs on Network television; run it for a few weeks then change the timeslot to some ungodly hour with no notice and then abandon it completely. See BSG, see Torchwood, see Stargate, see Farscape, Dead Zone, Babylon 5 and every other sci-fi show i can think of. They have a disdain for sci-fi. Why bother? I’ll give it 4 eps, tops. Put money on it.

  20. tony December 7, 2009 at 8:57 pm -

why does bloody channel have it first they advertise it for weeks, starts monday.. which monday l will bet 10 changes the time slot within the first 5 weeks they find a good show and screw with it and us

  21. David Knox November 30, 2009 at 11:19 pm -

    Wrong Monday.

  22. NotHappyJan November 30, 2009 at 10:55 pm -

Channel TEN… I am already pi**ed off by TEN, and the show hasn’t even begun.

They ostensibly start advertising it for Monday nights, but nothing happens.

I hate, can’t stand, loathe and would spit in the face of those faceless progarmmers at TEN for what they are already doing and for what we all know they will do.

Always best to order these things from the States, atleast then you can be assured of seeing the whole series … at a reasonable time of day.

  23. Robin November 30, 2009 at 9:20 pm -

I haven’t seen it yet but from what i’ve read, it seems like a good concept. Hope TEN doesn’t screw us over by switching it to a midnight timeslot like has happened with SG1 and SGA on Seven.

I love SGU! I like the slow pace and the character building and as much as I loved SG1 and Atlantis I think this darker approach to the franchise is a very refreshing change from the light and fluffy we’ve seen in the franchise. Though I don’t think it will appeal to the wider audience.

  25. gasbo November 28, 2009 at 10:22 am -

and don’t forget Supernatural is on before it

  26. Grinspoon November 28, 2009 at 2:24 am -

It’s not the fault of Brad Wright and Rob (Robert C) Cooper. It’s SyFy’s crap management. A bunch of new people came in to run the network who basically said they wanted to move the channel away from sci-fi. Hence changing the name from Sci-Fi channel to Syfy. They didn’t like stargate even though it was a big successful franchise, but they looked at battlestar and saw the acclaim and so decided they could try and get that acclaim and seriousness with the more mainstream younger appeal of stargate.

So basically due to this, the Stargate people were forced to end Stargate Atlantis early and then get to work on a Stargate series more in the vein of battlestar, but more family friendly. The network didn’t want to air a stargate series of a different style at the same time. Basically they wanted stargate more like bsg, less adult themes but wanted rid of a lot of the key elements that made SG excellent.

It’s the networks fault, not the guys running the show. They are in over their heads, the writers who are the same people as SGA, just aren’t suited to this style of show. It’s the result of a lot of studio meddling and demands for a formula against stargate and this is the result. The show isn’t terrible, it’s just a bit bland and lacks what made the other stargate shows great. Likable characters, fun and adventure with a lot of good and interesting stories.

  27. gasbo November 28, 2009 at 1:25 am -

Two of the doyens of the Stargate franchise, Brad Wright and Rob (Robert C) Cooper will be forever known as the destroyers of the Stargate franchise. They’ve turned a good scifi adventure driven franchise into a character driven soap/sex opera.

I actually wondered why TEN picked it up, now after seeing the first 9 eps I know why, the answers lie in eps 5, 7 and 9, never ever thought I would abandon a Stargate series, I have and I’m no longer supporting it (SGU) in my websites and blogs

    Very, very sad

  28. Craig November 27, 2009 at 7:09 pm -

We all know it’s not going to last, they’ll air 6 eps if we are lucky before Feb 2010 and it will be back to normal Monday programing, then next year they’ll do the same and in 3-4 years they will have finished season 1…

Speaking of SciFi destined to fail, WIN is still airing V coming soon but we know it won’t be on until Feb if we’re lucky. IMO Nine will hold off until March and after the winter games.

  29. brisvegas November 27, 2009 at 4:42 pm -

thats just an insane idea. Yeah, everyone knows that witha 2hour pilot, the more substantial parts are in the 2nd half of the show.
    Insane, i tells ya.

  30. Daniel November 27, 2009 at 3:30 pm -

Ugh that’s gonna kill the pacing, overall the first hour not much happens, it’s all interesting in the second half. Everyone is going to be like “well that’s boring”.

I mean stuff happens, just not the bulk of the action/story.
