Gibney, Colosimo for Nine telemovie

Rebecca Gibney and Vince Colosimo will feature in a true crime telemovie for Channel Nine based on the murder of Maria Korp who was left to die in the boot of her car in Melbourne in 2005.
Gibney will play Maria Korp while Colosimo plays husband Joe in The Story Of Maria Korp.
The script is based on the book The Maria Korp Case by journalist Carly Crawford, and began shooting in Sydney last week.
Updated: The 90 minute telemovie is being produced by Playmaker Media, a new production partnership between David Maher and David Taylor credits include the telemovie Make or Break, plus Love Bytes and two series of the comedy Supernova.
“This story has everything a true crime drama audience could possibly want: a front page news story of passion and betrayal, delivered by a stellar Australian cast. It will be a highlight for us on air in 2010,” said Nine drama executive Jo Horsburgh.
“The Maria Korp Story is a compelling writer-driven drama with a twist and we are delighted to be producing it for the Nine Network” said David Taylor.
The screenplay has been written by Ellie Beaumont and it will be directed by Ian Watson.
Maya Elliot will play Joe Korp’s mistress, Tania Herman.
Last week Nine programmer Michael Healy told TV Tonight, “…there’s an Australian telemovie that will go to air in the first quarter of the year. It’s got a cracking cast.”
Meanwhile, TEN’s true crime drama A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne airs this Wednesday night.

I believe Rebecca has a series contract and can do other projects the 30 weeks of the year Rafters isn’t filming.
Is the lack of golden handcuffs contracts nowdays progress or a step back?
Considering Eddie McGuire, I’m thinking progress.
This looks very interesting and I’m sure Rebecca was excited at the chance to do something that actually requires decent acting.
