KCA 12Rove McManus was crowned king of the kids at the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday -the only performer to take out two awards. In addition to his accolades he received the greatest honour of all -a pure green slime shower.

McManus took out the Fave TV Star and Fave Aussie gongs.

Other television winners included MasterChef Australia, iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Many of the other winners were in attendence to collect their blimp trophys including Jessica Mauboy, Short Stack, Dean Geyer, Guy Sebastian and Bindi & Robert Irwin.

Also getting slimed in 2009 were Short Stack, Joel and Benji Madden, as well as Dean Geyer, Sam Clark and Dash prior to the show.

The seventh awards featured a  spectacular three-storey colosseum on stage with 300 kids, and a slime waterfall slide. Once again the Orange Carpet was a scream-fest as celebs frantically signed autographs, posed for photos and greeted awaiting media.

In attendance for this growing event were more media from television, print, radio and online, jostling for positions on the Carpet. Once again Nickelodeon ran a super-smooth ship with media escorted and assisted at every step, supplied with food and refreshments, information cheat sheets, access to talent and wifi facilities. In terms of organisation it still leaves some other awards shows for dead…

I hope Ten decides to pick up the FTA rights. Surely, a event like this cannot be confined to pay forever…

    What a great show.

To the unfortunate few on here who have had negative things to say… pull your heads in. It was aimed at the kids, voted by the kids, no doubt enjoyed by the kids and done for no one other than the kids.

    I’m embarrassed for you.

I was so happy that Zac Efrom won over Rob Pattinson :D Aussie did something right, im proud.

Wasnt there an award for Fav Sportsperson?? Im pretty sure i saw that category when i was voting, unless i was imagining things…anyway

I just watched the ceremony, it was very slimey to say the least. But a good night :) Go the Kids!

Definitely not happy with Rove winning either of his awards, we shouldn’t be teaching kids to look up to morons like him. I can’t really comprehend how anyone could prefer Rove to the likes of Shaun Micallef and TBYG, but I guess kids like to award people with similar intellect to themselves.

I’m 45 and I watched it and thought it was a hoot! And yeah the guy from Short Stack was very unhappy his hair got messed up, made it all the more funnier…LOL. A good slime time was had by all LOL :0

Honestly I couldn’t have made a list of people/bands/shows/movies etc. that I dislike more accurately than these kids have come up with. I was joking that Kid’s awards show you what you shouldn’t be interested in. And by crickey, it was confirmed.

This was the first nickelodeon awards I have watched and it wasn’t bad at all.

I wasn’t happy with most of the winners but what do you expect when kids are the ones votng.

Overall it was good and I got a big laugh when short stack got slimed, one of them didn’t look too happy that’s for sure.
