Matt Passmore lands (another) US lead

Matt Passmore is released from his previous US lead in Masterwork to play a small town cop in Sugarloaf.

pmAnother US lead for another Aussie actor….

Matt Passmore has won the lead role in a drama pilot Sugarloaf for the A&E cable network.

He takes up the role after being released from his previous casting as the lead in Masterwork, written by Prison Break‘s Paul T. Scheuring.

He will play Jim Longworth, an ex-Chicago cop who gets shot by his ex-captain who wrongfully accused him of having an affair with his wife. After getting kicked off the force, he receives a payout and joins the police in a small Florida town.

A&E had been holding of the production until it found the right lead actor.

“It was such a great script with such a unique character who is very good at what he does but also has a sense of humor,” said A&E drama executive Tana Nugent Jamieson. “When Matt walked into the room, we knew we had the right guy — he is so charismatic and so likable.”

Passmore’s Aussie roles have included The Cut, Underbelly, McLeod’s Daughters and Last Man Standing.

  1. Congrats to Matt – it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. He has been treading the boards for the best part of a decade, and under appreciated in Last Man Standing, Mcleod’s assorted rellies and Play School. He can do a convincing American accent – having heard it first hand. I hope he does well in the states. He is a genuine and lovely guy

  2. It was always obvious that the two lead guys from Last Man Standing were going to go far, way too good looking and way too talented. So the US grabs another of ours, but if he’s playing a Chicago cop, he’ll have to learn to do an american accent.
