Heads up for a rare screening next Saturday night of Fahrenheit 451, the 1966 film based on the story by novelist Ray Bradbury.
Starring Julie Christie, Oskar Werner, Cyril Cusack and Anton Diffring it takes place in a futuristic society where reading is strictly forbidden and readers are hunted down by the authorities. In this narcissistic, mindless society, the function of the firemen is not to extinguish fires, but to safeguard the public’s peace of mind by burning books.
It airs 8:30pm 28th November on ABC2.

Saw this many, many years ago and I have wanted to see it again ever since. One of those movies that really stays with you.
Nice one! Thanks for the heads up.
Woo! One of my favourite books. 😀
I’ll take your recommendation and record it David…
