Belinda more complicated….. two eps screened twice. First ep first screening 118,000. Second ep first screening 111,000.

  2. Belinda November 11, 2009 at 12:35 pm -

Would that Survivor figure be an average of the 8.30am and 1am screenings? So it was potentially over 150,000 at 8.30pm?

  3. angelsgal November 11, 2009 at 12:00 pm -

impressive that a Lie to me repeat outrated private Practice. It also was very close to beating it in 18 – 49 demo. NCIS and Packed to the Rafters down. 7pm Tanks and as an effect, Tens entire night comllapes. Simpons does bad and drops about 150k to waht it usually does. Funny story about the project. My 74 Grandma was over last night and we had it on after Neighbours, as we watch 7pm everynight. As the intro to the show played, She went whats this show, and we’re like its a pannel show about the days news and events. it has a few special guest on it was well, and she went …i dont like it before it even started and asked for me 2 ABC news on. (i dont watch the news as i dont get home from work in time) I plained out refuesd and said they talk about the news on this show, watch it. As a Gen Y, the news doesnt concern me, if i want to know whats going on i pull out my iPhone and check, any time i want. I guess since the Project is aimed at my age group, it could be why it fluctuates. if something important happens, they’ll turn on, if not they wont

  4. Craig November 11, 2009 at 11:50 am -

Why no new Simpsons last night? they had a new one in the US…

  5. ducko November 11, 2009 at 11:41 am -

    @Nick,

No, Melbourne isn’t the biggest television market but more Melburnians watch TV than Sydneysiders. I don’t know why.

  6. Edu November 11, 2009 at 11:16 am -

Glad to see that Today is getting more numbers in Sydney and beat Sunrise overall.

  7. Nick November 11, 2009 at 10:17 am -

Just another question – why aren’t regional viewers counted?

This would be a larger sample than Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane. It’s a big chunk of the Aussie TV market missing out on being analysed.

  8. Nick November 11, 2009 at 10:12 am -

Just looking at the figures, is Melbourne Australia’s largest TV market?

It seems that more people watch TV there than anywhere else. Why is this so?

  9. damo November 11, 2009 at 10:11 am -

well how about that. sunrise beat today again and by the looks of it. they showed sunrise in perth

  10. Allie November 11, 2009 at 7:55 am -

@ Goonies, yeah, I agree that Carrie and Dave Hughes are not really smart enough to be anchors on 7pm Project. Dave is just a flat-out liability, he is terrible and Carrie is not far behind. I find them both to be unintelligent. But then, I don’t like Charlie Pickering, either, so if I had my way, I’d recast the whole show. The producers need to study a show like The View, that gets the chat/pop culture/current events roundtable format so right. Part of the problem is the fact that 7pm only goes for half-an-hour, which works out to what, 22 minutes of actual content? I defy anybody to conduct a quality topical chat show in just 22 minutes.

  11. Tbone23 November 10, 2009 at 11:58 pm -

Big Bang Theory is getting bigger numbers weke by week which is great 2 see…

  12. ryan November 10, 2009 at 5:59 pm -

good news week might actually do better with a 1hr show and nurse jackie would also prob do better if it was in the 9.30 slot.

  13. Goonies November 10, 2009 at 4:44 pm -

I wasn’t going to watch Dead Set and then I realised there was nothing else on so I thought I’ll give it 5 and then I was totally mesmerised for the whole thing!

Nearly too gory for me – if it gets any worse than the fire extinguisher scene I may need a blindfold for certain parts!

7PM was great last night, always good to see intellectual powerhouses have a discussion. I agree they are still trying to fit too much in, they way they cut George and Ben off was a shame. Carrie and Dave not smart enough to anchor this show and Andrew G is too ‘everyman’

  14. Harry November 10, 2009 at 4:14 pm -

Im from melbourne and I hate 2.5 men. And I dont know anyone who watches it either. Good numbers for The Mentalist! Pretty good number for GNW as well – TEN stretch that out too long as well.

  15. Jed November 10, 2009 at 3:29 pm -

@Edu “@Jed maybe if you’ll watch enough 2.5 Men then you can get some tips from Charlie and get to pick your future partner, bwahahaha.”

If that’s your attempt at a joke, it explains why you like 2.5 Men.

  16. koverstreet November 10, 2009 at 2:53 pm -

Interesting that The Apprentice won all the under 55 demos for it’s time slot. Personally I loathe it but it seems to be doing well even peaking at 1.2m. Nine would be very happy with that you’d assume.

Massive and well deserved numbers again for 2.5 Men.

The Mentalist continues to dominate at 8.30 becoming a stable performer for Nine while FF looks as if it may stay around the 1m mark at least for now.

  17. ryan November 10, 2009 at 2:41 pm -

nah host of 7pm project should be kim watkins!

  18. DAN November 10, 2009 at 2:34 pm -

loved dead set last night espcially the scene of davina eating the body it is such a shame that it didnt get higher ratings it sure deserved to

  19. Allie November 10, 2009 at 2:12 pm -

@Andrew B, Totally agree. The Hot Seat format is very flawed in that it tends to reward the last man standing – not fair. The original Millionaire, whilst often slow-moving, was at least fairer.

  20. Vanessa November 10, 2009 at 1:49 pm -

Dead Set was great! Can’t wait till next week.

  21. Edu November 10, 2009 at 1:41 pm -

@Jed maybe if you’ll watch enough 2.5 Men then you can get some tips from Charlie and get to pick your future partner, bwahahaha.

  22. Sillygostly November 10, 2009 at 1:40 pm -

    @ Allie

I’m aware that he used to do that on the original Millionaire format as well, but at least then he would keep his mouth shut during the more difficult questions.

  23. Tony November 10, 2009 at 1:32 pm -

Big Bang Theory is my favorite show on tv at the moment. It has all the elements of a classic sitcom.

  24. Tony November 10, 2009 at 1:29 pm -

Dead Set was awesome and deserves a bigger audience.

  25. Rod November 10, 2009 at 12:30 pm -

Glad to see a few others hung around with me for Dead Set. Good brutal fun!

  26. Andrew B November 10, 2009 at 12:12 pm -

Surprised Hot Seat is still even on. The show does not reward those who know the answers anyway, only those lucky enough to be stuck in the seat when they run out of questions. Very flawed game show concept. Original Millionaire much better.

  27. Allie November 10, 2009 at 12:00 pm -

@sillygostly, Eddie used to do this on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. He’d drop the “you absolutely sure about that”, “sure you don’t want to change that answer” etc, too many times for comfort. I understand that due to legal issues he has to ask contestants to “lock in” their answers so p’eed off contestants can’t dispute them at a later date, but he should keep his big yap shut and Not give away such obvious hints about possible wrong answers. Annoys hell out of me as it is not fair.

  28. Jed November 10, 2009 at 11:53 am -

@Edu, i don’t like it and i don’t watch it, but i will bag it. And don’t even get me started on freedom of choice in this country, some of us still don’t have the choice to marriage.

@frankie lupo, this is the ratings section, 2.5 Men rated #1 on the night so we can comment on it if we like. Bit hypocritical people telling others not to comment on a show cos they don’t like it, yet you’re allowed to comment on it cos you do like it.

  29. catherine November 10, 2009 at 11:52 am -

City Homicide should never have been moved from Monday nights. FlasFoward should have been put on wednesday instead. Im still watching FlashFoward though and still enjoying it.

It’s a shame that Mercy is on at a stupid time slot because its a very good show and it deserves an earlier timeslot. I look foward to it more than flashfoward.

  30. Sillygostly November 10, 2009 at 11:45 am -

I don’t know where else to post this, but anywho… I was so bloody p’ed off with last night’s Hot Seat. Eddie made it so bleeding obvious whenever the man was getting his questions wrong that he changed his answers at the last second for all 3 of his questions and fluked his way to $250K (whereas the contestant before him answered 6 questions correctly in a row without Eddie’s not-too-subtle intervention).

The idiot should have gone home with nothing. Plain and simple. After last night’s abomination, I don’t think I can watch Hot Seat again with Eddie acting the way that he does. I can understand if he tries to “intervene” during the earlier questions (as it would be quite embarrassing for one to lose before reaching the first milestone), but when there is a greater deal of money at stake, Eddie should keep his damn mouth shut and let those who answer correctly take home the money.

  31. Allie November 10, 2009 at 11:33 am -

Yep, David, it was a shocker, but so damned funny!! You’re right, though – very, very lazy reporting and an easy way to fill in one-third of the show. I’m convinced it was paid content put there by Edelsten’s PR agent. Edelsten is a master at self-promotion, so I’m not surprised he has pulled a stunt like this for his wedding. Is the Tax Office investigating him? How on earth has he made such an unfathomable fortune so quickly after being a bankrupt? The constant referencing to Pretty Woman was bizarre, it did kind of imply that Brynne is an ex-working girl, but the wedding invite movie was directed by Pretty Woman’s director, Garry Marshall. It must have cost Edelsten a bomb to make!! Nothing succeeds like excess!!! LOL

  32. Belinda November 10, 2009 at 11:02 am -

Oh so last night was the first 7PM Project episode I have missed, and it was actually interesting? But Ben Elton is popping up everywhere: Rove, 9am, 7PM, ABC Breakfast. He said he has also done GNW, so that will probably air next week.

I also saw that wedding invite thing on The Morning Show this morning, as I was channel surfing, Jason Alexander caught my attention. Very nauseating, but I don’t know of the enagaged couple. I thought they were implying she was a lady of the night, because of all the Pretty Woman movie references.

  33. stevo November 10, 2009 at 10:55 am -

i have fallen in love with the Big Bang Theory!! Such a funny show and I get a triple fix each week!! Also just checked to see how far behind we are and turns out we are not . the double episodes on GO! on sunday nights are from season 2 (early 2009) and the single episode on Nine on monday is from the current season (which finishes end of the month in US)

  34. frankie lupo November 10, 2009 at 10:53 am -

gee nearly 1.5 million viewers dont hate 2.5 men, remember dont like it dont watch it and stop commenting on it, in the mean time well done 2.5 men no 1 and no 4 spot great work

  35. Edu November 10, 2009 at 10:40 am -

The Apprentice was really good last night, I’m loving this show more every week! It’ll be double eps next Monday but I don’t really care if Nine is fast tracking this one, I can’t get enough of it, too bad not many people like it though, maybe if it’s on an earlier time slot, it’ll have more people tuning in. Sad to see Sam go.

2.5 Men was also really funny last night.
@Jed if you don’t like, don’t watch it and don’t bag it. It’s the same as not many people prefer your Samantha Who that’s why it’s on 72 now. The last time I’ve checked, there’s still a freedom of choice in this country.

  36. Nick November 10, 2009 at 10:35 am -

The problem of the 7pm project is that they try to fit too much in. There should be set panellists for the night, not half a dozen people. They should also talk about a few isues in the news not so much. I hate when they are interviewing someone and after a couple of questions, they wrap it up – so stupid.

It should be something more like The View.

I agree Charlie and Dave are hopeless and unsuited to the job.

Hosts should be Andrew G and Carrie.

  37. Matt November 10, 2009 at 10:35 am -

@ matt and Allie: If Dharma and Greg were to replace The 7PM project I would actually consider watching repeats of 2 1/2 Men *shudder*

  38. David Knox November 10, 2009 at 10:23 am -

I did Allie. It was so gross….bugger all reporting too.

  39. bette streep November 10, 2009 at 10:19 am -

Now I understand why so many commuters were angry about the train cancellations yesterday! They were desperate to get home to watch 2.5 men!

When a tired and unfunny American sitcom gets better ratings than Australian Idol and Celebrity MC – you know there is something wrong with the people who have people meters!!!

  40. David Knox November 10, 2009 at 10:11 am -

    S. Who outside the Top 100 sorry, just the movie made the cut.

  41. Allie November 10, 2009 at 10:11 am -

Rare win for ACA over TT last night. What was on ACA? Did anyone see the Geoffrey Edelsten movie wedding invite on TT last night? What a hoot!! I was in stitches, it was so high camp!!!! It went for the first 10 minutes of TT!!!. I wonder what Edelsten’s publicist paid Seven to air the thing in its entirety? The ascendancy of 2.5 Men continues to amaze me.

  42. Jed November 10, 2009 at 10:03 am -

Bloody hell, can we just direct every box set of 2.5 Men to Melbourne if they love it that much. Just stay at home and watch your box sets all day, then maybe we could get some more respectable ratings figures.

What numbers did Smanatha Who get last night??

  43. CrAig November 10, 2009 at 9:55 am -

    @ matt… that’s most unintelligent thing I’ve heard in a long time.

  44. Jed November 10, 2009 at 9:33 am -

I forgot how brilliant Samantha Who was. Was great to watch it again last night and from the beginning… why Seven took it off i’ll never know. So funny.

Record FlashForward and Criminal Minds, watch 1 hr of Good News Week, then watch Ashes to Ashes, then flicked between Ashes and Dead Set, then watched Mercy. Busy night on telly for me.

The Brits really come up with some great ideas for shows. Dead Set was an interesting concept and nothing i’ve seen before. And so so so graphic for a tv show. The scene where she smashed the zombie’s head with a fire extinguisher was too disturbing for me though, cos it reminds me of the film Irreversible, and that scene with the fire extinguisher which is one of the most distrubing things i’ve ever seen on film.

  45. Allie November 10, 2009 at 6:22 am -

@Ryan. I agree. Charlie Pickering is dreadful and Dave Hughes should have been sacked off 7pm weeks ago, he’s terrible.

  46. ryan November 10, 2009 at 4:29 am -

@ matt : totally agree! that show is hilarious and if im home i watch it

  47. matt November 9, 2009 at 11:13 pm -

7pm project should be cancelled and replaced with dharma and greg to compete against two and a half men

  48. David Knox November 9, 2009 at 10:23 pm -

I enjoyed the chat between George Negus and Ben Elton on 7PM Project on Monday. Which was more important, the downfall of the Berlin Wall, or the World Trade Centre?

  49. ryan November 9, 2009 at 9:44 pm -

7pm project sucks!! charlie is the worst choice the host! dave hughes can’t put 2 words together and the whole format sucks, i want friends, everybody loves raymond, futurama, or something else to i can actually be entertained at 7pm!!

  50. David Knox November 9, 2009 at 6:25 pm -

Ryan its two part. Tue / Wed.

  51. Tony November 9, 2009 at 6:17 pm -

It beggars belief why they would drag Idol out for two hours, especially considering how poorly it’s rating. A tight one-hour edition would probably be more appealing (although I still wouldn’t watch it this year).

  52. ryan November 9, 2009 at 6:16 pm -

ive noticed ten have moved the last ep of celeb masterchef to tue 7.30 replacing new simpsons that week.

  53. Dino November 9, 2009 at 5:11 pm -

Ten, you have well and truly found rock bottom!

Idol is an absolute mess. Annihilated in total people, and in the precious demos. I think I was a little optimistic when I predicted it would get 1.2m for the finale, it will be lucky to crack 1m at this rate.

Do us (and youselves) a favour and axe this tripe Ten. No one wants another season of mediocre contestants, coupled with bland judges all served up on the platter of a dead format.

  54. Harry November 9, 2009 at 3:55 pm -

Idol is on its last legs. I feel so sorry for Andrew G, he looks like a fool having to drag out the show for 2 hours.

On the upside, Idol is more entertaining than Border Security and The Force.. boring TV.

  55. mak November 9, 2009 at 3:19 pm -

No David, we should all be complaining to Oztam not the stations.
This grouping of stations is the biggest load of …. I have ever seen.
Why don’t we also add the radio stations, magazines and newspapers which are in part owned by the parent companies.
There could be no limit to what is possible. We can then bask in the knowledge that the total revenue directly relates to viewer choice.

  56. Studley Dudley November 9, 2009 at 2:29 pm -

2 crap singers and a “bro”. Australian Idol is dead !! hahaha

  57. David Knox November 9, 2009 at 2:02 pm -

They should have complained to 7 not 9 or OzTAM….

  58. Chris November 9, 2009 at 1:59 pm -

@2.5 men – now that 7TWO is here, this cancels out the GO/9 combo, so there is nothing to complain about! i.e. 7 and 9 both have a help from their 2nd station!
People were complaining bc it was 7 vs 9/GO i.e. 1 channel vs 2 but now its 2 channels vs 2 channels

  59. Trent November 9, 2009 at 1:57 pm -

I expect bad things for the finale. These ratings are the worst they have ever had and there is tougher competition, considering it will be up against the Twenty20 Cricket (I think).

I predict no more than 1.2 million for the winner announced.

  60. kevin martin November 9, 2009 at 1:55 pm -

Great figures the last two weeks for Bones, it is one of the best shows on TV.
Shame that S.N. only got 1.2M there were some really good stories last night.

  61. 2.5 men November 9, 2009 at 1:17 pm -

what happened to the people who complained about GO! and C9 ratings sharing?

Surely these people also have to complain about 7TIVO and C7 ratings sharing? Its only fair :)

  62. Daqua_99 November 9, 2009 at 1:12 pm -

Good win for seven it did well … Im personally a fan of the bones castle double n I’m glad they ate working well

  63. David Knox November 9, 2009 at 12:51 pm -

Chris, Scrubs was 73,000 on 7TWO.

  64. Chris November 9, 2009 at 12:45 pm -

    Hi David
Just wondering what the figures were for scrubs last night on 7TWO? Great to see it back – with minimal ads! and a good alternative to everything else on at that time.

  65. Allie November 9, 2009 at 11:58 am -

Seven absolutely romped home last night, absolutely triumphant. Idol is dead – Ten better wake up and smell the coffee with this one. It no longer engages the viewing public like it used to and it needs to either be rested for a season or canned altogether. Less than 900K at the final three is indefensible, it makes the show unviable for sponsors.

  66. Todd November 9, 2009 at 11:41 am -

Just realised Rove had more viewers in Melb than Idol did! WTF!

  67. Percy November 9, 2009 at 11:40 am -

Sorry but if people want to watch Rove, they’ll switch over when they have to, all this crap about blaming Idol is ridiculous. It affects the casual viewers to an extent but if people really wanted to watch, they’d make the effort. They don’t because his show is Mediocre, wake up Australia!!!!! Look at Letterman and Conan, this crap he produces does not compare! He is not funny!

TEN have given him prime time on a Sunday night and his 2-bit show is not delivering. Simple. Idol lead in or not, it’s not rating.

  68. Todd November 9, 2009 at 11:40 am -

Funny how no-one mentions that Idol has retained its Sydney viewers fairly consistently (~320k) during the finals…. but it has done shockingly in Melbourne and other areas…. 200k in Melbourne is just pathetic… that said, I thought last night’s show was good but I agree, it dragged on way too long!

  69. Jerome November 9, 2009 at 10:52 am -

has anyone ever seen an ad for The Force?

  70. Neil November 9, 2009 at 10:47 am -

    @ Jed

Rove is back in 2010, after an extended break as per 2007/08. Rove suffers when the lead in is this bad, but at least he still won the 16-39 & 18-49 demographics.

  71. Amir November 9, 2009 at 10:46 am -

Poor Ten. Are those the worst Idol figures ever? And during the Top 3. They surely can’t defend this show’s figures any longer can they? Big Brother was doing better than Idol!

  72. bette streep November 9, 2009 at 10:39 am -

Idol has been a disaster all year. 890K for the Final 3 show!!!!

As for Rove – with a disastrous lead in like this – his ratings will of course suffer!

I feel sorry for the contestants – whoever wins is going to be enormously embarrassed when their single doesn’t succeed like previous winners.

  73. Brodie November 9, 2009 at 10:26 am -

Absolute shocker for Ten last night. Idol below 900k and we’re at the pointy end of the competition. I don’t think Ten would be very happy with those sort of figures.

The Force is just that, a force to be reckoned with on Sunday nights.

  74. Jed November 9, 2009 at 10:26 am -

Australian Idol, only 890,000 for final 3. It will prob only just crack 1 mil for the final. It’s not too late to change your mind Ten. Get rid of it, it’s not helping Ten, and it’s not fair on the talentless kids that go on the show all the way, and then get nothing out of it. The public don’t care anymore. Wes Carr gets 2 people to a gig. Casey Donovon gets nominated for a Deadley even though she’s done nothing in 5 years. Natalie Gauci, Who??

And lucky Rove won’t be back next year cos those are terrible numbers too.

Great episodes of Bones & Castle last night. I complain every week about the Bones interns changing, but i guess i have to suffer that it won’t change. Annoying girl one next week.

  75. Jerome November 9, 2009 at 10:20 am -

great night for 7, appears 9 and ten have given up on sundays.

great lead to start to the week for 7, especially considering 9 had a big help from GO! border and force stroger than ever blitzing total people and dominating demographics. bones is becoming more consistant, and castle is holding the audience well.
SN has really established itself, good retention from 7 news and it’s stayed well ahead of 60. it hasn’t been affected by daylight savings at all like some people predicted.
and not bad for 7TWO either kill bill got 7two’s best primetime audience yet.

nothing is really doing well on 9. the movie did healthy figs. but without GO! 9 would be totaly stuffed.

and ten. oh dear. less that 1% from 4th! and 3rd (atleast) in 18-54. when ten announced that idol would be back surely they were expecting a rise in audiences by now. it has only gone backwards. the final 3 performances and people couldn’t care less.
    and electric dreams…horrible

  76. Neil November 9, 2009 at 10:05 am -

Ouch, hurts to be TEN this morning – record low numbers for Idol followed by a very slim 3rd placing over the ABC. Even the demo numbers show what a turkey Idol has become.
Seven/7TWO roar home with The Force at 1.6mil and a massive 5.4% win on the first night of the week, no doubt setting up yet another strong week ahead.

  77. Nathan from The Extra Source November 9, 2009 at 10:04 am -

Sucked in Rove what a shocker!!

  78. Tristan November 9, 2009 at 10:00 am -

i’ve been studying for exams lately, so i didn’t notice in the guide that my house in umbria was on! fairly good figures, was it any good? i wish i recorded chitty chitty bang bang too, haven’t seen that in years :(

  79. Andrew November 9, 2009 at 9:59 am -

big drop for idol last night, even with pete wentz on the show,
also, castle fell below the 1M, even with the bones lead in, which done well on 1.3M
    Rove couldn’t even manage 700K :S

  80. cros November 9, 2009 at 9:58 am -

they can’t possibly still want to bring back Idol after this? Please, the show’s just dead.
