7TWO for Tassie / Darwin, ONE for Mildura.

7TWO7TWO launches on Southern Cross Television today in both Tasmania and Darwin today.

In Tasmania it can be found on Channel 62.

Southern Cross Television’s Group General Manager, Craig Davies has previously said, “We are particularly excited that 7TWO will be the new home for premiere episodes of international hit series including J.J Abrams’ Lost, Ugly Betty, Heroes and 24. Iconic programs including mob hit The Sopranos, much loved drama Six Feet Under and comedy, Murphy Brown will screen on the new channel alongside new primetime episodes of The Jay Leno Show.

But launching one month after cities on the Seven Network, viewers will have missed key episodes of some titles.

Heroes has its final episode for the year next week, before returning in 2010.

“There is a great strategic balance in the program schedule of 7TWO that will deliver audience growth across both of our channels without sacrificing one for the other. The program schedules of Southern Cross Television and 7TWO have been designed to complement each other ensuring we deliver a continuous mix of top quality television entertainment” Davies said.

The channel launches at 7:20pm with Welcome to 7TWO with new Ugly Betty to follow at 7:30pm.

Mildura Digital Television (TEN Mildura)  broadcasts ONE from 6:30am today. The 24hr sports channel will be broadcast in high definition and standard definition in addition to the standard definition primary channel.

Meanwhile Prime viewers are still awaiting confirmation of the channel in regional areas.

TV Tonight understands it is hoped an announcement can be made soon.

  1. I called Prime yesterday to be told very swiftly that they don’t have any new digital channels in the immediate future and it will be at least 2010 before they will be putting anything on…

Can everyone please call them and complain as much as possible – they really need to know that they are only frustrating their viewers who watch their channel which generates them advertising revenue – not sure what school of finance they went to but it isn’t exactly the best idea….

  2. I really hope Prime picks up 7TWO soon. And I hope they play the episodes of Heroes (and other shows) that we have missed, perhaps instead of those “Football Flashbacks” or whatever.

  3. Not quite Nick, unless they’ve recently had a deeper gene pool installed 😉
hopefully in the Derwent Valley, it would seem like the most appropriate site.

(am kidding btw, am an escaped ex-Tasweigan)

  4. If prime does not like then branding then why not use their own like they do for the main channel? Just call it Prime2 (Swap Words/Numbers) What’s the big deal…?

  5. The Australian Financial Review said yesterday that 7TWO would be launched in rural NSW and Victoria and ACT this month (December) and would be called 7TWO by Prime.

  6. Regional Qld have 7Two on 72 like the capital cities but the freeview ad that airs here only reckons we have 7 and 7HD despite having 7Two since November 1.
