    Dude.

The Colbert Report wasn’t in widescreen :( :( :( I guess ABC paid for a cheaper SD 4:3 version or something :(

    @John

Have you tried a VPN service like Hotspot Shield? (plus you’ll probably want Firefox so as to use Adblock) Some potentially useful info here…

If Conroy gets his way you’ll be wanting one soon enough anyway :-/

10 had the rights to the Daily Show the last time I looked. That info is getting on a bit now though. (pinched it off SBS must be a couple years back now)

Not that they’ve done anything useful with it at any point. They seem to think they can get higher ratings with tired repeats of Malcolm than with a cutting edge show at its peak. *shrug*

Both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report start airing in HD from January 4. So the ABC2 version should at least be in widescreen.

@John. You can still watch online, just not the “full episode” links. You can still watch the individual segments that make up an episode.

Awesome. Daily Show too would be mega-awesome.

This is great news!!! You used to be able to watch it online until they restricted access to US internet services. Any chance the Daily show could also be regularly aired? I think SBS used to have the rights.

    Great news. Goodbye Foxtel.

Hope one of the FTA networks picks up The Soup & doesn’t butcher it like E! Australia has.

Fantastic news for us with just FTA… now, if only we could get The Daily Show too…

Silly going up against 7:30 Rpt on ABC1. It should be at 8.

@tomothy – Not everyone has pay tv !!! myself included.

These digital channels GO!, ABC 2/3 and Seven Two are getting better and better .

I wasn’t expecting it so soon. Finally something to watch at 7.30pm rather than 2.5 men , factuals, or the Simpsons.

Great news. Probably the funniest show over ther last 5 years.

Any chance of getting the daily show beforehand as well? Seems odd for only one to come across.

It’s actually on the Comedy Channel at 7:00pm.

  16. Ajdin December 22, 2009 at 9:34 am -

Brilliant – watch it every day on Comedy Channel and it’s a fantastic show. Would be great if they (ABC2) got Daily Show to accompany it though…

the comedy has the show on 7pm weeknights and its tag line in the promos are “the show the 7pm project wishes it was”…always brings a smile to my face…

David – and best of all, it will be on iView. Blessings to the ABC and my ISP.

    Happy Christmas David.

ABC2 is going downhill. First more kids programming, now this, which can already be seen on Comedy.

  20. Tim December 22, 2009 at 8:30 am -

Awesome, i’ll have to iView it, since i dont have DTV yet (i have 3+ years before i have to jump to that mess), but it’ll save me quota from watching it online.

I didn’t even know there was a global edition of Colbert, im hoping ABC will get Daily Show soon as well (though colbert is funnier), im not sure how big the streaming versions are, but im guessing i will save around 2.5 gig a month on Colbert alone (iView being unmetered on iiNet).

Co-incidence it starts on my birthday ? i think not :) thanks ABC.

A Foxtel subscription is looking less and less attractive every day with these new digital channels. Now all we need is The Daily Show on FTA.

Thanks for bringing us the Colbert Report ABC2!
