Assault on Bondi Rescue lifesaver

By David Knox on December 22, 2009 / Filed Under News 4

brBondi Rescue Lifeguard Troy Quinlan  (pictured, far left) was assaulted on December 7th following a night out in Kings Cross.

Quinlan and his friends were trying to catch a taxi when he was king-hit by one of eight men who ambushed the group near the corner of Darlinghurst Rd and Victoria St.

Detectives say it appeared the attackers mistook Quinlan and his friends.

“It does appear it was a case of mistaken identity following an incident at a nightclub earlier in the night,” a police spokesman said.

“This bloke was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Quinlan was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment and has since spent 11 days in and out of hospital.

At the moment he is unable to return to work.

Im sick to death of the way australians treat eachother and how a human life doesnt mean anything anymore! people are happy to jump on peoples heads, kick them in the head when they are down and drink and drive. Its about time something is done, in w.a we just passed a new law on one punch deaths and assaults on public workers where you will get mandatory jail time. Its a start but alot more needs to be done like education in schools!
