masterchef logoNow France is picking up MasterChef, following recent news that the US is adapting the format from Shine Reveille.

The US pick-up was specific about basing production on the Australian broadening of the UK format by FremantleMedia.

French network TF1 has begun casting the series set to air on primetime in 2010. It is the first sale by newly-established Shine France.

TF1 commissioner Laurent Storch added: “MasterChef will be a major show for TF1 in 2010. We are delighted to be not only developing this unique and innovative format but also working with Shine France for the first time.”

all they need now is to sell it to the Japanese, then do a terrible american voice dub, and we may never have to endure that corny IronChef again.

Im really quite surprised about the American adaption – especially basing itself off the Australian version, as I have always felt that the Australian Masterchef was much more akin to America’s Topchef than Britain’s Masterchef.

Which is the French basing itself off Aust. or British?

I wonder what the program will be called in France? And if any famous chefs such as Paul Bocuse and Joel Robuchon will be involved in the challenge?
