Major changes to TEN’s summer line-up.
Monday night’s Futurama to be replaced by Rules of Engagement, now to air in the Wednesday animation line up at 8pm where it was playing in repeat.
Supernatural is off next Monday to allow the double episode premiere of Stargate Universe at 8:30pm.
White Collar moves to 9:30pm replaced by a repeat of NCIS. So that means Numb3rs is out.
…oh and Jamie’s Family Christmas? The one where he was effectively going to be cooking turkey in January? That’s gone too. (Quote: “TEN will surely come to their senses on this daft idea.”)
There’s a double Malcolm in the Middle for the week of December 28 when The 7PM Project takes a week off.

I agree with you Jacket. Myself and several of my workmates all Love Supernatural and watch it on Channel 10 too. I have never in my life met anyone who has a ratings meter box! (Or knows anyone who has) They’re a load of CR*P as far as I’m concerned because I don’t know where they find these people who seem to not like my fav shows and like ones I don’t. How is it that this small percentage of the population can be responsible for the fates of shows for everyone? The only way the ratings would be fair is for everyone to have said box (that in my case also takes into account what you record – as that’s about 90% of what I watch).
I have also been enjoying White Collar but don’t care about the timeslot seeing as I have to tape everything at nights anyway as I work ’til midnight weeknights.
To Vic: I have watched Neighbours since the very first year (1985 – and it’s been my favourite show ever since) and I also watch 7pm every night. I find it’s usually quite enjoyable, but I wouldn’t be devastated if it were gone.
As for “lead-in shows”. I have 2 VCRs taping every night for all the shows I watch. Channel 10, 9, 7 and occasionally SBS or ABC as well. I tape specifically what I want to watch. Sometimes I need to get a friend to tape shows for me if there’s 3 shows on at the same time I want to watch. I don’t have any room or inclination to tape shows just because they happen to follow something else I watch.
The Thing is if they were to drop 7pm Project Ten would have to go back to the drawing board regarding replacements.
Seinfeld, Will and Grace, friends, everyone loves raymond amongst many other things have been done to death.
Roseanne/Facts of Life/Mash Reruns are all to old to even consider.
buying temptation of nine would be another option but that means the nine viewers are stuck with the charlie sheen marathons.
Ten is an endlessly annoying, stupid channel. They get the shows I want to watch, and then shaft them mercilessly.
I’m enjoying White Collar. I love Supernatural and will probably end up just buying the season direct from the US so I can watch it (thanks to no region encoding on DVD players here).
I’d have watched the Jamie cooking thing as there’s endless ways to ruin a turkey but getting it right means happy eaters.
I don’t watch the Murder Franchise shows.
Re: Bereft Skerrick : I feel very sorry for you that you are not tolerant enough to allow others to have and voice their views about their fav TV shows without feeling the need to berate them.. For your information all my ‘Supernatural’ friends do watch the show when it airs in Oz….but unfortunately if we do not have one of the ‘magic’ survey boxes it does not help the ratings!!!!
There are many shows I do not enjoy watching…but would never feel the need to put down people who do enjoy them …. the fact that we are all different is what makes this world a great place. Please allow others their opinion.
Enough of the NCIS/CSI/SVU/VUS/NPH/SVCU/BSS/CSI:NYC/CS: LAPLAND/NCIS:TIBET blah blah blah
Enough of the crime dramas, enough already.
Surprised at all of the Supernatural whingers. If you all came out in force and watched it when it was screened on TV, it would not have been axed/moved/relegated in the first place. There are inifintely more (and better) shows in the Universe than Supernatural.
As for Stargate Universe, Mr Skerrick is awfully excited as it’s the only show he watches all week.
Very disappointed with the sudden change of Supernatural to a double of Stargate Universe especially since it was on for such a long hiatus and was meant to air earlier on before they extended that hiatus.
I also think White Collar should be in its usual time slot of 8.30 and the repeat of NCIS should be on at 9.30
Disappointing for Supernatural. As if the hiatus in the US is not killing me enough, now we have a week hiatus here. i can’t take anymore Supernatural hiatusus. And no, i have no life
I am happy that TEN is bringing back “Rules of Engagement”, but I hope they bring back “Numbers”. I don’t care what timeslot it is.
@Neon Kitten: That’s not what the industry research suggests. Mind you, if there’s a drastic switch in genres between programs then it’s less likely the viewer will stay around, but if it’s something along the same lines, then people are more likely to stay on the same channel. Somewhat along the same lines would be having something like the 7pm Project following a serial or something like that. It’s tepid enough that you don’t really register it as being a drastic change, so you’re not negatively stimulated enough to change the channel.
Mind you, if there’s a program on another channel that you’re really interested in watching, then yeah, you’ll switch. For the most part, however, television viewers are creatures of habit.
Hmm, well who ever said that summer ratings didn’t matter lied.
I personally think it is a shame that Repeats have to take the place of new first run shows. That just cements the network in relying on only a limited palate of shows.
I have been enjoying White Collar, maybe it will rate better at 9.30pm against the struggling Amazing Race (although next week is the Final). We shall see. Just keep airing the show and please don’t take it off, there isn’t much I am watching on TV atm!
i dont care when you put numb3rs on, just put it on channel ten. there should also be a rule that the dvd of series can be released 6 months after it has been shown in america.
Just finished scribbling these updates onto my TV guide. Many thanks to David for the updates.
Numb3rs is looking like getting the chop from CBS so it may not fall into a prime time slot again! I think 10 should rearange their animation time slots, perhaps put Cleveland on at 1:30am, bloody stupid Family Guy style lowbrow comedy I prefer a little more wit like Futurama (or American Dad!) has.
I know Supernatuarl fans have been spoilt the last few weeks having double episodes but I wish TEN would leave at least one episode on air this week…… it is the only show on TV I make sure I see.(even though I have seen all the eps from their US airing). and Supernatural fans have waited patiently for season 5 to air on Aussie TV….
@Alex T, Vic: surely the archaic concept of shows “leading viewers in to the night” is completely irrelevant these days? Nobody I know turns on the TV and leaves it on the same channel all night.
Ch 10, there are people like me who watch Numb3rs.
So why not just move Jamie to the logical pre-Christmas slots instead of scrapping it altogether? I know the America show didn’t rate all that well, but in non-ratings period surely some non-repeat shows would do a bit better!
fk yeah, ncis repeats back!! good move ten!
@Alex T: You make very good points. My view of it is that the way 7pm is going, it will never be close to a “hit” (that said, the move to one hour episodes did seem to do it some good, but we’ll see for sure once ratings start up again). If Ten was serious about their late night block (which I believe is an area that Aussie networks could have some success in), then I think realistically they could garner an audience that could make the move worthwhile. I almost feel ashamed to say it, but hell, do a Jay Leno and put the show at 10pm. It’s late, but early enough that it could get a decent lead-in from a strong 9pm show. I think at this point it’s safe to say that the people who watch Neighbours aren’t really interested in watching 7pm. Sure, it would lose a fair few viewers in the later slot, but you’d probably also see some better demographics tuning into the show (I’m not necessarily talking about 18-39, but rather, higher income viewers).
As it is right now, personally, I see the continuation of 7pm as being purely due to a lack of alternatives. I honestly can’t see the show ever being more than a costly experiment gone wrong.
@ Tim: There are still 6 remaining episodes of Futurama (i.e. the two remaining parts of Bender’s Game and the entirety of Into the Wild Green Yonder).
Thanks Ten – no longer do I have to choose between New Futurama and The Middle on Mondays!
Only problem I can see with there decision is the continuing storylines on Futurama will no longer make any sense to occasional viewes. Last nights ep ended with “To be continued” – who knows now when Ten will replay the follow-up ep!
Speaking of SG:U SciFi is showing the mid season final Friday which aired last week in the US, but will TEN make it that far before it’s moved?
ITA while I love having a FTA 24/7 sports channel in HD they really need a general entertainment channel on there network, bring on 2010!
@ bindi – Supernatural is back Dec 21 at 8.30 with Stargate Universe at 9.30. Same for Dec 28, unless of course, they change their mind beforehand.
With only 2 episodes of new futuramas left i don’t see the point in moving it. Especially at late notice, some people that have seen the repeats a hundred times wont tune in and see it (though ive watched them all to death, and still enjoy it).
Good call by 10 for SG:U i didnt even realise it was going to be so soon, luckily they listened. Only thing is they need to tell people that it does get better, i wasn’t expecting much from SGU but i was let down by the first few eps, but it got better, and is potentially getting brilliant now with the latest twist.
Everyone needs to stop with their ‘move Neighbours here, move Neighbours there, cancel Neighbours. I Love Neighbours and do not want it cancelled or the time slot changed. Please!
As for changes, Futurama good., everything else total rubbish.
My summer viewing consists of Ugly Betty, Glee, Seinfeld and Heartbreak High. Not really enough there to keep me entertained
Changes aplenty.
Ten really does have plenty to fill a 3rd channel.
Still think 7pm Project has legs, even if it’s not quite pulling the numbers.
Ten need to consider, going drastic, Neighbours at 6pm, Project at 6.30pm for an hour, it would offer a different viewpoint to ACA/TT. (an idea that has been suggested previously)
or if that didn’t work, 7pm Project at it’s current time but on Ten’s 3rd channel and late night repeat on Ten’s main channel after the late news.
@alfagirl – Thank you xD, as a fan of Supernatural I go on forums all the time and the Supernatural forum on channel Ten’s site is used more than almost any other. Some fans might have lost interest but I’d say the majority are still behind it.
As for the double episode of SG.U I think it’s a good idea. As people have said it was meant to be a double, I just hope they bring Supernatural back on the week after. I think if SG.U rates well it might be better to have SG.U on at 8:30 and that might provide a better lead in for Supernatural at 9:30.
@ Vic – A late night version of the 7pm project is not feasible in the slightest. The production costs of that show would be very high, and i’m pretty sure a national audience of around 200-300k would not cover the costs. Also they don’t want to free up their 7:00 slot because they don’t really have anything to put in there. Keep in mind that whatever they put there has to be rated PG.. Yes, there is masterchef for the first part of the year, but once that finishes, they’ve gotta find something else to stick in there.
This is TEN’s biggest weak spot i reckon, because it leads them into the rest of the night. However, i can see them attracting a better audience in the new year, especially seeing that the show is now starting to holding it’s own against the competition on 7 and 9.
Hooray for NCIS repeats – something to watch this summer. Even though I have all the seasons on DVD Ill still watch it when its on.. Please tell me TEN are playing S6.
Well i’m happy with NCIS and White Colalr will only clash with Amazign Race this week so no drama. I love White Collar, great show, but it’s not rating so i’m thankful it’s still on air. Bring back Pysch though Ten. Could even put it on at 7.30 instead of bloody Rules of Engagment.
I’m pretty sure 7pm Project was one hour on Tuesday night.
Thank jebus they’re doing the SGU double.
Ten is the summer version of Nine.
I really like cleavland’s show last night, it was actually funny and interesting. The characters weren’t family guy clones, and not only was there a story, but there was character development- something that The Simpsons has been missing for a number of years.
Damn, Moving my fav new summer show
Unimpressed TEN.
Move White Collar back please
Numbers bring it back, i dont care what time slot, I do not want to use channel BT.
I assume it is repeats of rules?
@RichoTB – Please don’t speak for most Supernatural fans unless you have polled them all.
Ten really needs that new channel fast. They’ve got so much content just stocking the shelves that they could easily (well, at least decently) give GO! a run for their money. Having just one night dedicated to USA Network shows would be great (Monk –> Psych –> White Collar –> Burn Notice).
I’m still of the opinion that late night for 7pm wouldn’t be a bad idea. Lets them be a bit more risque, would provide a decent enough lead-in for Letterman or the news, and frees up the 7pm slot.
hopefully supernatural will be back the week after, at either 8:30pm or 9:30pm depending on whether SGU rates better than it or not. I also hope that they have an encore of SGU planned because after all the ads saying 9:30 and all the printed guides saying it too there will surely be some upset people who tune in to find it half over.
Oh c’mon NCIS? Talk about overkill, Ten.
Running the double episode of sg:universe ? wow they really must be listening to us. Good stuff.
Instead of runnig repeats of dramas late at night they should put new episodes on instead. Ten really need to start their 3rd channel and it needs to be a General Entertainment channel.
Also forgot to say if Malcolm does better than the Project at 7pm, then Ten should should move to late night as it will prove its a turkey. I love this show but its not deliering for ten
Not suprised NCIS repeats are back as it was summers number 1 TV show last year. Hopefully the lead out helps The Office out a little and helps boost White Collar. Rules in that slot is gonna be slaughted against The Middle and should go thursdays instead of Accidently on Purpose, as it didnt to too bad (800k or so in that slot) earlier in the year. About time Animation Fixation added New Futurama, why it was on mondays in the 1st place ill never know. I wish ten had Family Guy so they could go Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Cleveland. Im really suprised Ten didnt do a MasterChef Xmas special leading into xmas, with Gary, George and some former contestants showing us some Xmas recipes.
I thought summer meant sitting back and relaxing in the non ratings period?
Good to see them run double SG:U since it was a double ep start.
I can see White Collar going the way of Psych and so many others in the not to distant future…
Good idea. Futurama was actually Ten’s best show last night, it makes sense to move the new episode there. Numb3rs is one of the most derivative procedurals on air, good to see it get the flick, although they may as well move it to Wednesday or Friday at 9.30pm now, it was rating better than some of their other shows.
Supernatural has been horrible for years, most fans lost interest years ago. Watched a bit of White Collar, it was boring, not surprised to see its rating rather terribly.
