Returning: American Idol

By David Knox on December 31, 2009 / Filed Under Pay TV 10

ellen-american-idolChannel Nine is likely to be doing a lot of inadvertent promos for American Idol shortly with Ellen about to make her debut as its new judge. She’ll no doubt be bantering about it on her show when it again captures the imagination of a nation.

The series kicks off in the US on January 12th with a 2 hr premiere and FOX8 will again air it in Australia on a same day turnaround, Wednesday January 13 at 7.30pm (that’s the same day in case you forgot about the dateline).

In both media campaigns, the tag line for the series is: “They all start somewhere.”

lol @ Swanny Nine airs Ellen on her daytime talk show, she will promote Idol herself on her own show, so Idol keeps getting a ridiculously high amount of viewers in US, (most watched show for the past 5 years stright over there) so she can earn the big buck$$

RE Swanny: Nine doesn’t have American Idol, it’s a reference to how they have Ellen’s show, and she’ll be probably be plugging Idol a lot on it.

Love American Idol! Aussie Idol needs to look at it closely to see how it should be properly made if it’s to last beyond 2010.

LOL maybe Nine should have got the FTA rights for GO! ? but again it’s up to PayTV to take up the slack and they wonder why people are not watching their summer time crap fest.
