hb1Hungry Beast will return to same ABC timeslot in February, but not without some changes.

The fledgling ABC series has been guaranteed another ten episodes but will slim down its on air presenting team to just four of its young faces. The lucky four will be revealed in the new year.

Others from the show’s 19 recruits may still appear from time to time in various stories.

ABC’s Kim Dalton, said: “Hungry Beast has been a big adventure for all concerned – the 19 young people that pulled this show together from scratch are to be congratulated. We’ve had some controversy, hilarity, and some revealing and moving stories. 2009 was a great start and in 2010 Hungry Beast will be even stronger.”

Executive Producer Andrew Denton said: “ABC TV took a punt on 19 unknowns creating a new, topical TV show from the ground up, and have been rewarded in the first 10 eps with some truly fresh and original television. We are delighted ABC TV has decided to back a second series of Hungry Beast as their investment in new talent and ideas can only blossom further.”

Next year the website will also utilise greater interaction with viewers.

It returns Wednesday 10 February 2010 at 9pm on ABC1 -a turnaround that will leave only a very short break in production.

  1. Extremely good to see sharp, creative television being produced that not only braves challenging subject matter (DNA profiling, Coles/Woollies dominance etc.) with innovative multimedia techniques… spiced up with dashes of humour!

  2. I like Victoria Dynamite… The parody of commercial “investigative” journalism reminds me of the old Mike Moore days, but naturally not as good as he was. I enjoy the show, but I agree that it is a bit of an up and down ride and the constant war moralising does get a bit much…

  3. Shelly I’m with you – every time that character comes on I cringe – just so bad. I think they need to decide what they want to be – at times they are really compassionate with amazing interviews (the series of interviews with the families of soldiers and the immigrants were absolutely incredible), at other times they go for the cheap laughs. In a show that short, it makes for very uneven viewing.
