Hi, David can you please tell me if you guys could possibly always have the 5 cities figures on, I find it more intresting to see in wha cities Nine wins, otherwise I have to assume that this year its just Syd & Mel, but I would like to know for sure about these things!

    Thanks

    Hugh!

can u please tell me david when pay tv ratings will be back on thanks

Notice the latest 7pm project ads are much better suited to the show, i.e. more light hearted which the show actually is rather than a news program which it ain’t. WIll be interesting to see whether it works but replacing Carrie and Dave would be a good start as they have little to contribute other than (1) autocue reader and (2) testing lame jokes. Charlie and some of the semi regulars are good and bring in some good talent for hit and run shows e.g. Tony Martin or Mal Wladen

  4. Rob January 3, 2010 at 12:09 pm -

Ten don’t care, they have a big year to match the ratings of 2009 with MC and other programming. Ten’s problem is that their US content is outdated (in style and concept) while their movie showings are mostly repeats. They are never going to match Nine and Seven as TV for older people (40yr+) but instead get a little older with Ten, stay youth orientated for Ten2 and Sport for One giving an overall good mix. Seven will dominate because they have the shows 40yr+ people want to watch e.g. Border Protection, Pick on a Minority etc, you get the drift and Nine basically do the same.

  5. Curtis January 3, 2010 at 11:33 am -

I hope Seven Brisbane have a contingency plan – because their ratings seem to be crumbling. A resurgent Nine will place big pressure on BTQ, and Deal and No Deal will not help Seven one little bit. Even Sharyn appears to be under the pump on weekends. Maybe its time for Seven execs to think more about the Brisbane audience and put something worthwhile on at 5.30 – maybe a new 30 minute Local Edition. The advertorial Great South East is old and stale, with Sofie swanning around thinking everything is wonderful (but for a fee).

  6. Brodie January 3, 2010 at 11:17 am -

Excellent Saturday share for ABC, helping push them to third for the week, and Ten to a lowly fourth.

  7. Kenny January 3, 2010 at 11:02 am -

ABC beats TEN on Tue, Thurs, Fri & Sat. Hmmm.

  8. ryan January 3, 2010 at 1:09 am -

I think ten has got trigger happy, ive seen the tbyg 2010 ad about 30 times and its already annoying me and it doesnt start for ages, slow down ten or you will annoy the crap out of people. I still cant wait for the new eps though!

  9. Harry January 2, 2010 at 11:54 pm -

lol @ TENs shocking Summer. Doubt its going to get any better than what we are witnessing. Nine are shocking at covering NYE Fireworks.. I dont watch any Free to Air TV during the holidays.. its all poo.

  10. hey January 2, 2010 at 3:03 pm -

@Guy i think that seven will air double eps of greys anatomy 2 catch up with private practice then move private practice 2 9:30pm, i reckon tuesday night and it may get a boost from a lead in with the factuals then the 7:30pm thursday slot last year. Tuesday would be good because packed to the rafters can take over after greys finishes @ 8:30pm.

  11. Brodie January 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm -

Looks like Ten are in for another 4th placing this week. They are having a shocking summer.

  12. Jason D. January 2, 2010 at 11:39 am -

I gotta agree with mike. “chk chk boom” bogan is only known for being mentioned by Nine and News Corp. newspapers and websites as they are desperate for some sort of meme for cheap publicity. Otherwise hardly anyone would be a fan or let alone know of or care about “chk chk” girl.

Just another instance of Nine thinking that they are in the know and that they should be bringing us who they think or believe is famous or likable and is another reason why Nine is completely out of touch with viewers.

  13. mike January 2, 2010 at 8:32 am -

WTF with the “chick chick” Bpgan on channel 9. We don’t need to give this no talent, nobody Bogan screen time. Go back and get another southern cross tattooed on, so you can brandish it, along with the aust flag draped over your shoulders on Australia Day.

  14. Rutzie January 1, 2010 at 10:09 pm -

@ryan, I’m pretty sure Shaun looking like he didn’t know what he was doing was part of the act, but I did think it was a little disappointing. The good thing about Ten doing the fireworks was you didn’t have a channel promo shoved down your throat every 5mins.

  15. Guy January 1, 2010 at 7:52 pm -

    @ aznfratboy

I believe that Private Practice wont be shown again until Grey’s Anatomy is shown because the next episode in the US is the crossover event between the 2 shows and Seven wouldnt ruin the flow, unlike another channel we know do this on a basis all the time. However i do like you’re thinking with a comedy night but not with Gary Unmarried. I would go something like this and put My Kitchen Rules before them if i were to go a comedy night but they just dont work here in Australia.

    7:30pm My Kitchen Rules
    8:30pm Cougar Town
    9:00pm Scrubs
    9:30pm 30 Rock
    10:00pm Family Guy
    10:30pm American Dad

  16. Jerome January 1, 2010 at 6:49 pm -

terrible share for ten, beaten by the ABC. the shawn micallef show was not very good but it did look high budget and it would be quite an embarrasement to lose to music videos on 9. the ratings for that ARIA show look good, it would have been very cheap, 9 will probably bring that back.

we probably won’t have any more years with a single network fireworks coverage. those ch9 figs are huge.

  17. John January 1, 2010 at 6:32 pm -

what was the rating for Dinner for one on SBS? This 20 min show screens every year, always funny.

  18. Jim January 1, 2010 at 4:50 pm -

@ tasmanian devil – I suspect most of Micallef’s brilliant humour would go straight over the head of people.

  19. mak January 1, 2010 at 4:44 pm -

How pathetic was the nine coverage of the fireworks. 75% advertising and trying to entice us to “welcome home” bulls**t. They missed the countdown, had that boom boom idiot on (she has a show on nine…hahahaha) and the constant camera shot changes meant they missed some really good stuff on the bridge.

Shaun Micallef was very ordinary. He is a great comic but I’m afraid is too way off centre.

Give the fireworks to the ABC.

  20. ryan January 1, 2010 at 3:37 pm -

@ tasmanian devil, Im sure it will be back since it got a pathetic 428,000 people, ( which is what it deserved) Also i did change the channel to watch the fireworks but i cant stand 9’s hosts! and im just saying ten would have done alot better if they stuck with the sydney fireworks and live bands they use to have

  21. cros January 1, 2010 at 2:07 pm -

Ch 9 coverage last night was Terrible. WTF happen to the countdown? They didn’t even do it until the last 3 seconds, they were just blabbering away. And aren’t they suppose to show the harbour bridge with the numbers instead of the 2 stupid hosts? Were the crew drunk or something? Horrible.

  22. tasmanian devil January 1, 2010 at 1:49 pm -

@ryan – If you have such bad taste that you would rather watch the fireworks (which I must agree are more or less the same every year) than a Shaun Micallef variety show, then nothing was stopping you. As a fan of Shaun Micallef I thought the special was good and hope it comes back permanently but if you didn’t then I don’t see why you seemingly feel the need to watch Ten anyway.

  23. AlvinC January 1, 2010 at 12:39 pm -

I wonder what the NYE Sydney Fireworks rate. The fireworks were brilliant, I surprisingly loved the 9pm fireworks, they were beautiful, but sadly channel 9 had terrible coverage *cough*interviewing chckboom girl *cough* and constant ‘yes we can’ fatblaster advertisement.

  24. ryan January 1, 2010 at 3:11 am -

jesus how bad was shaun’s rave on ten! it looked like he didnt know what he was doing half the time. worst decision ever to scrap the sydney fireworks! and im also pi**ed off since he thinks every yr they are the same they didnt need to show it, well every year sydney has a different theme.

  25. aznfratboy January 1, 2010 at 12:38 am -

Cougar Town will hit our airwaves in early Feb or so. Now I’ve seen all the episodes, and it is one awesome show, and is almost definitely sealed for a second season. The pilot got 11.5m viewers and a 4.4 18-49 rating, it’s since stabilized at around 7.9m viewers and 3.2 rating, which I think it the equivilant to around 850-900k viewers? Who else thinks that’s a good estimate, pending promotion during the tennis? Also, why else thinks this would be good if it were to be wedged between new episodes of Gary Unmarried and How I Met Your Mother?

Something like Wednesday night could look like:
7:30 How I Met Your Mother
    8: Cougar Town
    8:30 Gary Unmarried
9: other American sitcom, 7 has its choices, they have like 5 that air at midnight
    9:30 Private Practice

  26. Jim December 31, 2009 at 6:47 pm -

I guess Brisbane’s sick of the BTQ “B” team. Great work for Nine, two out of the last three weeks in 2009 won at 6pm.

How did White Collar rate on Tuesday night as I love that show. Next week it said its the season finale here, but it was the mid season finale in the us. It returns in the us on the 16th of January so I wonder if ch10 will put it back on.

  34. Andrew December 30, 2009 at 6:54 pm -

So is The Office rating better or worse? havent seen results in a while.

  35. Kuttsywood December 30, 2009 at 6:29 pm -

Forget Auld Lang Syne, for BTQ, Sharyn got beat, now B-Team got beat. It’s not gonna be a happy new year, if Seven lose two out of the last three weeks of 2009 in Brisbane, all due to crashing 5:30 numbers.

Summer was all hyped about gains for BTQ’s 5:30, that never appeared, I’d say there will be a total abandoning of Seven in the SE corner noticed from very early on next year. I honestly think to save face, they should just announce it tomorrow night, that Deal will be at 5pm in SEQ in 2010. After all, the Brisbane audience wouldn’t care whether Deal’s on at 5 or 5:30…

    How did Private Practice rate?

  37. Andrew B December 30, 2009 at 3:06 pm -

7TWO for the last two nights has beat GO in channel shares.

  38. ryan December 30, 2009 at 3:01 pm -

good to see 7 news come second for a change! considering 7 has some of the worst coverage of news im always surprised to see them win. If anyone wants to see real news then watch ten or abc

  39. Trent December 30, 2009 at 1:17 pm -

Great to see Nine News and A Current Affair beating Seven News and Today Tonight. They are the superior shows.

  40. Brodie December 29, 2009 at 7:30 pm -

Terribly low rating night last night, apart from the cricket inflated 9 News. SBS is having a strong start to the week, edging ever closer to Ten and ABC.

man i can’t wait till the end of feb!! im so bored atm watching tv! The only good thing on atm is ncis repeats!, I wish ten would return new eps of burn notice!

Hey David, would you be able to find the Supernatural ratings for last night?

  44. David Knox December 29, 2009 at 4:16 pm -

Andrew, yes for this week, as noted earlier. Back Monday.

  45. aznfratboy December 29, 2009 at 4:13 pm -

I think Ten has a similiar tactic to Jay Leno over in USA, “come a safe third”

Because Chanel 10 is trying to target the 16-39 demographic, they are bound to get less viewers then say 7, where channel 7 targets 25-54 demo with all this docu-drama crap. I think that if Channel 10 comes third, and occasionally second with their special events then they’d be happy. They could start by airing more American dramas with some Australian stuff rather then movies we’ve seen 1000 times.

  46. Andrew December 29, 2009 at 3:39 pm -

Is 7pm project on a break or something?

  47. Fredo December 29, 2009 at 3:10 pm -

Not sure why some people have it in for Chris Bath. She’s not even reading the news but is being blamed for 7 news losing to 9 news. Mike, 9 news won because of the cricket and if you check the ratings over the few years you’d know that the cricket does help 9 no matter who is reading 7 news. Whether Chis stays in the role for a month or several years is irrelevant. She is the anchor and hopefully she will remain the anchor of 7 news for a long time to come!

  48. Jim December 29, 2009 at 2:16 pm -

@ Mike – Chris Bath has been on holidays for a few weeks now. Fergo has been presenting most nights, with Chris Reason doing weekends and the odd weeknight.

  49. chris December 29, 2009 at 2:02 pm -

having the cricket as the lead in to the news tends to scew the figures though doesnt it?

  50. Mike December 29, 2009 at 1:43 pm -

Ok how many weeks do we give Chris Bath reading Seven News Sydney. Sure it’s non ratings but Nine keep beating them. Habits forming after those excellent promos? I say Mark F in anchor by end of Feb. He already has equal billing in the on air promo whilst Chris appears smaller than a few weeks ago.

  51. Kuttsywood December 29, 2009 at 1:30 pm -

I guess the “Come Home to Deal” promos, Seven have aired in Brisbane recently have failed. Amazing return for Nine, even without the cricket leading into QTQ’s 6pm news.

  52. matthew December 29, 2009 at 12:02 pm -

How did the 7pm Malcolm in the middle go?

Hopefully more then the 7pm project

    Castle Rpt 725,000

  54. MR December 29, 2009 at 10:31 am -

Ten loosing more and more viewers as days go on over summer and next year
Better competition on 7 2 and GO
Love the Go Theme song being played in between shows to fill in time

  55. Castle Fan December 29, 2009 at 2:28 am -

Any way to find out how Castle did?

  56. DanR December 28, 2009 at 7:57 pm -

Ten’s primary audience isn’t housebound like most of Nine and Seven’s

  57. tv December 28, 2009 at 7:46 pm -

Ten is having a shocking summer. Maybe they should learn from SBS, they have had a 25% gain (probably all of ten’s losses) in the ratings over summer.

  58. Michael December 28, 2009 at 6:21 pm -

Why o’ why does TEN persist in promoting the 7PM project?
Do I have to avoid TEN all together for fear of seeing another promo for that hideous show?

  59. shaun December 28, 2009 at 5:10 pm -

love the vicar of dibley specials on 7 keep em coming, i wish border security can be easy and simple to watch as border patrol is when they do stories and wrap em up straight away not like recapping and going to breaks all the time, i even enjoyed bones rpt big night for 7 and nearly 20% gap with 10 very dead night over at 10, wake up 10.

  60. Ryano December 28, 2009 at 4:49 pm -

You have to wonder what network will be advantaged most with the inclusion of timeshift devices.

  61. John December 28, 2009 at 2:14 pm -

The Vicar Of Dibley was very funny can’t remember seeing this episode before.
I don’t think TEN ever cares about summer tv.

  62. Brodie December 28, 2009 at 1:30 pm -

Ouch for Ten, nearly 20% behind Seven for the night. They were closer to being 5th than they were to being 1st.
