    @ Trent
“People want to see newsreaders that are both serious and humorous and to present these varying aspects at the right time. Ferguson is quite boring and I’m glad that Nine are rid of him”.

Speak for yourself, i just want them to read the news. How fake is it when the sports reader mentions some obscure sport to the news reader, at the end of the segment, and he or she always respond’s with “Looking forward to that” or words to that effect, yeah right Christine Bath is going to catch up on watching some Lawn Bowls tournement, at 3 in the morning.

david wats happed to pay tv rating they havent been on for like the last 2 weeks

  3. Nik C December 14, 2009 at 9:36 am -

Unfortunatley Outrageous Fortune has never had any decent treatment on Aussie TV. It really makes me wonder why a top rating NZ show, that is quite brilliant, never got a good start. Why would people start watching Season 5, when seasn 2 aired on channel 9 about 3 years ago, and Season 3 was on Foxtel. It really does deserve better treatment, and I enjoy it on DVD, since I already own it. To me the figures show a lack of viewer understanding of the show and the timeslot might not be right. I just know some people will be quite upset who watch it and do not own the DVD, if Ch 10 axe it completely.

  4. Frankie December 13, 2009 at 11:41 pm -

Do the rather poor figures for last week’s Australian Open and this week’s PGA on Ten include viewers on OneHD?

  5. RichoTB December 13, 2009 at 10:36 pm -

Ten really need to cut loose on their dog shows…200k for Outrageous Fortune in a 9.30pm timeslot is the worst figure I’ve ever seen for a commercial channel on a weeknight. Law and Order is almost as bad. They may as well dump Supernatural on Friday nights and try resurrecting Smallville or even Three Rivers (axed, I know…), its guaranteed to rate higher than 200k, I can say that now. Also would it kill them to give 90210/Melrose Place a shot? I know they’re both likely to rate less than 600k, but Glee seems to be working, and the demos would be a lot better than their current lot.

  6. Andrew December 13, 2009 at 8:18 pm -

They should put Outrageous Fortune on a Monday or Tuesday I reckon for people to notice it, very disappointed..

  7. ryan December 13, 2009 at 7:05 pm -

ten have tried everything on fri and sats and still cant get a good share. By now you would realise that on fri and sats people love docos and garden/lifestyle shows so i would suggest ten dont even bother trying to aim for the 16-39 demo but instead go for the 25-54 demo, and start catering for this group.

  8. Stephen H December 13, 2009 at 12:54 pm -

The fact that the 7pm Project can’t beat repeats of How I Met Your Mother and Funniest Home Video’s is reason enough for it to go.

Also it is a shame that Outrageous Fortune is rating really badly but that is expected considering 10 use tro air it after 11pm and then skiped season 3 and 4 and haven’t advertised the show at all.

10 needs to start their new channel Now.

  9. ryan December 12, 2009 at 7:42 pm -

Is there a reason ten has 5 hrs of fkn golf on one hd and channel 10? Ten you have a dedicated channel for the loser game golf, so stick the sh*t on there and put something people would actually want to watch on ten! because of you all today i was watching your rivals, who actually had something good on!

  10. messy December 12, 2009 at 1:54 pm -

@ border patrol ” Chris Bath beaten in Sydney. She wont last long”
    Who are you kidding?
One night down slightly, all other nights up by tens of thousands and you assume defeat.
You must really love nine news or hate Chris Bath.
Your prediction is a load of bull and you probably know that.

  11. Craig December 11, 2009 at 8:06 pm -

Must be summer, last nights TV was a joke, didn’t help that Seven was playing up, no loss with Face-Off. Re-runs ruling the night so I watched Austar…

  12. Andrew December 11, 2009 at 7:03 pm -

It does look like The Office is building momentum though. the episodes do get funnier and funnier this season.

  13. Border.Patrol December 11, 2009 at 4:49 pm -

Chris Bath beaten in Sydney. She wont last long

  14. ryan December 11, 2009 at 2:26 pm -

honestly why are ten insisting on keeping 7pm? is there a valid reason for doing so? from what i’ve seen its had enough time to find its feet and i dont think its gonna happen.
Has ten shown their 2010 lineup yet?

  15. RichoTB December 11, 2009 at 2:14 pm -

Ten need to replace CI repeats, as soon as possible. 435,000 in a primetime slot is absolutely woeful.

Shame The Office isn’t working, at least they gave it a shot.

  16. Kyall December 11, 2009 at 1:53 pm -

That’s huge for Stargate: Atlantis!! 250,000 is the highest for 7TWO so far, yeah?

  17. Jerome December 11, 2009 at 11:24 am -

good to see HIMYM establishing itself as the top commercial 7:00 show this summer. last night it was the #1 show in 25-54. it’s a very funny show i hope this summer is sucessful in building a loyal audience.

this is one of the few things i like about summer, the early evenings. with malcom and HIMYM i am much more entertained now than during the year.

  18. bigkev December 11, 2009 at 11:24 am -

I’m gonna cause a scandal…. so channel 9 haters, get your fingers ready…… ready for it….. i love Australia’s Funniest Home Videos as a daily series. never ever watched the show, as I thought it was a bit pedestrian, but its so much fun to sit back at dinner, and see someone make a total fool of themselves. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while…… Feel free to hate on me now…..

  19. ryan December 10, 2009 at 8:40 pm -

9am with david and kim final 2mrw guys, so if u like the show they are having a pretty big ep to celebrate so watch.

  20. Sillygostly December 10, 2009 at 6:20 pm -

@ Goonies: Malcolm in the Middle is new to Ten and has not aired prior. As you may already know, Nine previously held the rights to the series.

  21. Goonies December 10, 2009 at 3:55 pm -

@ 2.5 men – are you sure Malcom in the Middle is new to 10? I think they have had it for quite a few years….can anyone confirm?

  22. Sillygostly December 10, 2009 at 2:56 pm -

Wow. A Futurama repeat was Ten’s highest rating show for the night. :O

And yet they’ve been wasting the new episodes on Mondays. :(

  23. JM December 10, 2009 at 1:28 pm -

Would this be the first week that 7PM would build each day of the week ?

  24. Brodie December 10, 2009 at 12:27 pm -

Nine News and A Current Affair really tanked last night.

  25. tomtom December 10, 2009 at 9:04 am -

“ten need to replace supernatural ep 1 with criminal intent eps!”

oh go away. we Do Not need more damn crime dramas on TV. Enough, enough, enough of the ncis / ncsi / csi,law & order, svu blabl blah blah crap.

  26. 2.5men December 10, 2009 at 8:28 am -

also the fact that Malcom in the Middle – a show that hasn’t been on TV for years, on a new network, and on a unusal timeslot for a comedy show – is beating the 7pm project in its first week?

that’s warning signs to either change the shows time slot or get rid of it all together. And to think Taken Out was getting better/same numbers than the 7pm Project, Wow.

  27. 2.5men December 10, 2009 at 8:16 am -

the problem with the 7pm project is the timeslot i reckon

    a)
people who watch the news at 6pm, have more likely have no reason to watch the news/current event again only 30 minute later. They’ve got their news fix, why would you want another one 30 mins later?

    b)
people who didn’t catch the news at 6pm, have 2 choices at 7pm – ABC or 7pm Project. People will fall over to the ABC news. Professional presentation OR wannabe journos/comedians?

7pm would have been better as a late night show. Whos the target audience? The youngins? It presents (key word) itself that way so it already loses a majority of the older audience (at that curernt time slot to the ABC). Do young people watch the news? no a lot read the news on the interent.

  28. Jed December 9, 2009 at 10:24 pm -

Yeah shame about The Office numbers. I watched the British one the other day and still think the American version is way better, which is odd cos most American remakes are rubbish.

I was up late last night so managed to watch Parks and Recreation which i thought was good, but It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was freaking hilarious. I’ve seen it before and found it ok, but last night was one of the funniest shows i’ve ever seen. 11.30 at night, everyone asleep, and i’m laughing my head off.

  29. JDen December 9, 2009 at 6:39 pm -

Great to see Reaper getting some viewers, as it’s an awesome show. Too bad they didn’t show it here two summers ago when it first aired in the states.

  30. koverstreet December 9, 2009 at 4:53 pm -

Survivor is doing well but really what are the alternatives..Gary Unfunny? yuk! Accidentally On Purpose? yuk again! And Whacked Out Sports? Not sure Seven could get any more bogan oriented if they tried.

  31. Goonies December 9, 2009 at 4:47 pm -

@ Belinda – because we want to and because we can.

David has said many, many times that once a show airs it is fair game. How long are we supposed to not talk about a show? two days, one week, one month?

  32. Harry December 9, 2009 at 4:32 pm -

Geez, TENs failing. Dont really watch much TV during the summer, stick to DVDs!

  33. ryan December 9, 2009 at 2:48 pm -

god even with no comp and the 7pm project still fails. Accidently on purpose was a better ep last night and i laughed quite alot, i dont even bother with the office for some reason, i think ten should bring back ncis repeats from the early seasons with kate since we havnt seen those in ages and move white collar to 9.30 and put numbers on fri after law and order.

  34. Ben December 9, 2009 at 1:59 pm -

I’m thrilled that Survivor is performing so well – that could possibly be the best number for Survivor since season 2 (whose premiere rated 1.5 million and the finale rated 2.25). Everybody is buzzing about Evil Russell and hopefully it will keep this good performance going straight into a fast-tracked Heroes vs. Villians.

  35. Dino December 9, 2009 at 1:41 pm -

Humiliating defeat for Nine News last night, under 1 million viewers and 400k behind 7 News.

  36. Belinda December 9, 2009 at 1:01 pm -

I’m not sure why anyone needs to be discussing storylines in a ratings topic.

  37. Jed December 9, 2009 at 12:50 pm -

Wow. great numbers for Survivor. Nine, you could have had 15 seasons of those ratings if you hadn’t have treated it like crap.

7pm project numbers go down down down. Maybe they should just give it up. Really what they should do is axe Neighbours and put it up against TT and ACA. I know i would definately watch it up against those trashy programs. And at least then it would be a similar programming so would offer an alternative. Right now there’s nothing to watch at 6.30 for me, and then 7pm can have Biggest Loser/Masterchef ensuring the next programs get a good lead in It won’t win against H&A or that crap sitcom that everyone loves. And Neighbours ratings are woeful. How’s it rate in the UK? That’s the option. Axe one or the other.

  38. Chad White is Hot December 9, 2009 at 8:55 am -

Love Survivor Samoa and Amazing Race!!

    Go Meghan and Cheyne!!

  39. ryan December 9, 2009 at 1:41 am -

Out of everyone i think ten will have the most improved yr next yr with all the new hits that ten brought to tv this yr including recruits, masterchef, ncis l.a , merlin, bond vet, tbyg, all will be back and prob with alot more eps ordered for tbyg and recruits plus prob bondi vet, all these shows did really well for ten and should strenghtn their lineup next yr

  40. Brenton December 8, 2009 at 11:16 pm -

Here’s an idea for Ten on The 7pm Project
    Monday: 7pm-8pm (review the weekend)
Tuesday: 9:30pm-10:40pm (rove on Tuesday was excellent in early days)
Friday: 7:30pm-8:40pm (review week, around country on weekend, an alternative to afl on 7 and nrl on. 9.

    Mon: The 7pm Project
Tue: The Late Night Project (lame I know)
    Fri: Project Friday

  41. Brenton December 8, 2009 at 11:05 pm -

SBS on 11.0% Ten better watch out it may end up seeing itself coming 5th soon. On 7pm I started watching it since H&A has been on a break and it ain’t that bad to watch but having said that I wouldn’t give up watching H&A ever.
I think that’s also the problem with Ten’s morning lineup, 9am is a good show but 7 & 9 offer the same thing and no matter what ten’s lead in program is people aren’t going to watch Ten in the mornings.

  42. Rutzie December 8, 2009 at 10:32 pm -

I think it’s time to start reading the last rites to The 7PM Project. Coming a distant fourth against very weak opposition (on Nine and Seven) should be the final nail in the coffin.

  43. gerry December 8, 2009 at 8:52 pm -

If Nine play their cards right with The Middle, they will now have 3 top-rating comedies (Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, and now The Middle).

  44. George December 8, 2009 at 8:35 pm -

    @Kev:
The whole point of Dead Set is that no one lives. :P It’s been said on this site and in various other forms of media.

  45. Studley Dudley December 8, 2009 at 7:51 pm -

Chris Bath is just another Melissa Doyle

    Well done Man vs Wild

    Channel 10 … you suck !!

  46. Benny December 8, 2009 at 6:38 pm -

    @ Kev
You can’t blame Jed for telling you the ending.
Everyone knows that it is fair game once a show has aired – it’s the same as when David posts news/results.. I always make sure i don’t come on here if i record Survivor or similar shows cos i expect there to be discussion

    @ Jed
I too was a bit disappointed in the ending… felt like they (the writers) took the easy way out

  47. Andrew December 8, 2009 at 5:14 pm -

I was talking about Malcolm In The Middle

  48. Andrew December 8, 2009 at 5:14 pm -

Oh p*** off! they play an old sitcom and it gets thart sort of ratings! what are people on?

  49. Goonies December 8, 2009 at 4:54 pm -

@ Jed – I was a little disappointed about Dead Set ending as well, other than that it was a super fantastic show. Be good to see it in it’s entire form.

I don’t know that Malcolm’s rating would allow it to be played at 6pm, besides haven’t they been repeated to death now as well?

  50. George December 8, 2009 at 4:07 pm -

Ten was 5th behind SBS between 7.30 and 9.30 last night…..ouch!

  51. Brandex December 8, 2009 at 3:37 pm -

@ryan More Law & Order? Aren’t there enough crime shows xD (Although this is coming from a Supernatural fan). Anyway, as of next week the 2nd episode of Supernatural is being replaced by Stargate: Universe, maybe that can boost ratings a bit.

  52. ducko December 8, 2009 at 3:28 pm -

Network Ten, it’s time to bury the 7pm Project.

  53. James December 8, 2009 at 3:23 pm -

@ Angelsgal – demos last night

    10 won 16-39
    7 won 18-49 and 25-54

  54. Jed December 8, 2009 at 3:12 pm -

@Kev. Sorry mate. I have the same thing happen to me when i record shows to watch later and read comments on here. It’s the unwritten rule, once its aired it’s fair game to comment on it.

  55. RichoTB December 8, 2009 at 2:40 pm -

Ten showing double eps of Supernatural is ratings suicide. That show, like Lost and Prison Break, should have finished at the end of season 2 instead of dragging it out beyond belief. 500k in a primetime slot is an absolute joke, if Ten have any dignity they’ll take it off.

Good to see Malcolm in the Middle improving 100k on the horrible Neighbours. Just because its Australian doesn’t mean it makes up for bad acting and cliched writing.

The Middle reaches in its first ep what Big Bang Theory struggled to achieve for most of its two seasons.

Gone: Flashpoint. Returning: Another CBS crime procedural

  56. callas December 8, 2009 at 1:58 pm -

kudos to GO! for screening Dante’s Cove… the actor that plays Kevin is stunning !!

  57. Kev December 8, 2009 at 1:55 pm -

    @Jed says:
    December 8, 2009 at 11:50 am
I was a little disappointed that no one survived in Dead Set.

    Thanks for the spoiler Jed.

  58. angelsgal December 8, 2009 at 1:15 pm -

Go Malcolm in the Middle, Tens top rating primetime show and did as well as Neighbours. Its one of the best comedies every mad imo….simple, funny and relatable. I hope ten move it to 6pm once Neighbours returns. As for The Middle I turned it on after The 7PM Project (which was really good last night and a shame the figures dont show that) and I thought it was very funny, will be watching this as well. Glad it premiered well. 7 did well to win the night, and im sure nine would won all the demos (Flashpoint let them down, but GO would assist) Ten just had a shocker, Futurama is a flop and should be on Wednesdays. I think Ten should Try and get Hamsish and Andy guest host 7pm while they’re on leave from radio and see if it helps

  59. ryan December 8, 2009 at 12:27 pm -

ten need to replace supernatural ep 1 with criminal intent eps!

  60. Jerome December 8, 2009 at 12:25 pm -

malcom in the middle did well, ten’s top rating primetime show. i’m happy, there is finally somthing good to watch at 6:30. but is does say something about the rest of their schedule.

7pm did terribly, and the comeptition did quite well so thay can’t use the excuse that it’s summer and no one was watching tv.

heartbeat and mother and son are doing really well on 7two. the middle did well on nine, could be a decent rating show for them. big band theory took years to regularly get over the mil.

  61. Jed December 8, 2009 at 11:50 am -

I was a little disappointed that no one survived in Dead Set. But that has to be the most graphic, bloody and violent show i’ve ever seen on tv. Only the Poms could get away with that.

On the other ened of the scale, Dante’s Cove is one of the hottest, raunchiest things i’ve ever seen on tv. It’s better than porn. Wow is all i can say.

But GO! is turning into Nine with the late starts and finishes.

And why can’t Seven put 30 Rock on 8.30 followed by Parks and Recreation. Then put a movie on at 9.30 if you have to. Waste of a great show, and perfect opportunity to build an audience. I’m yet to watch P&R cos it’s on so late.

Don’t think my other comment went through so apologies if this is the same.

  62. Dino December 8, 2009 at 11:38 am -

lol Vid. It was nothing but a win.

As it was again last night nationally, and in Sydney with Chris Bath once again beating Peter Overton.

  63. Sam December 8, 2009 at 11:25 am -

Did anyone else think that Sandra Sully was a complete bitch to George Negus last night on 7PM? Don’t know why, there seemed to be some tension there on her part.

  64. Amir December 8, 2009 at 11:21 am -

Terrible ratings for Ten, which is a shame because they have the best lineup for this summer.

  65. Brodie December 8, 2009 at 11:02 am -

Absolutely terrible result for The 7pm Project, very distant 4th place for it’s timeslot last night.

  66. Marco December 8, 2009 at 10:50 am -

I suspect 2.5men came across Dante’s Cove…did you watch for more than a minute? Curiosity killed the cat!

  67. 2.5men December 8, 2009 at 8:25 am -

guys, so i was channel surfing last night and i switched over to GO!…. and well…. what kind of hell show was that? I did not expect to see what I saw. O_O

I mean, it didn’t even look like a TV show with a storyline… you can tell by the camera quality and graphic/fonts used.

So i switched over and 30Rock was one. Not a bad show… I wonder why it hasn’t been given a chance at a decent time slot. It would be interesting to see how big the auidence awareness is for that show when given a primetime slot

  68. vid December 7, 2009 at 11:18 pm -

@dino… seven may have won the news sunday…but not by that much! honestly… i wouldnt call it a win!!

  69. Dino December 7, 2009 at 7:43 pm -

@ Trent. Despite having different lead ins to their news service depending on the city / time zone, 9 News still had 908k viewers between 5pm – 6pm. By comparison Seven had 488k between the same hour.

The fact Seven News went on to win, despite being so far behind in the preceding hour, would imply lead in doesn’t mean everything, and Nine’s news service is inferior to Seven News.

In regards to Mark Ferguson, he is an average news reader at best. But it’s quite funny that he is beating the guy who Nine dumped him for.

  70. Chris December 7, 2009 at 6:51 pm -

40 Year old virgin did pretty well for a repeat. It was only on a few months ago.

  71. Johnson December 7, 2009 at 5:12 pm -

It seems that the revival of Australian golf was short-lived. The Australian Masters (with Tiger Woods playing and little opposition) rated hugely for Nine, but the Australian Open was soundly beaten by both cricket and V8 Supercars yesterday.

  72. Goonies December 7, 2009 at 4:27 pm -

@ Jerome – I think Glee is holding same sort of numbers as in prime time ratings season. Hopefully in July there will be new eps from Season 2.

  73. ryan December 7, 2009 at 3:40 pm -

Ten news needs a major overhaul, getting under half what 7,9, and even abc news got is pathetic!

  74. Craig December 7, 2009 at 3:40 pm -

I thought Doctor Who would have done better…

If TEN holds off showing Glee a lot of fans will not wait until March/April for them, I think they are doing the right thing, I just hope they plan an encore before the new eps start.

  75. George December 7, 2009 at 3:33 pm -

How’d ABC3 go last night compared to the other digital channels?

  76. THTANK December 7, 2009 at 3:30 pm -

Pretty good result for Doctor Who.

  77. Trent December 7, 2009 at 2:42 pm -

In regards to the cricket as a lead-in to the news, they still did pretty well because Nine was only 70,000 behind. I reckon a major influence in this result, would be the fact that the lead-in in three of the metro cities was not the cricket, but Antiques Roadshow. If Channel Nine were going to promise to not bring back one show next year, it has to be this one because Two and a Half Men is not that bad. If the cricket had gone to six in all cities, then Nine would have won the news battle.

Seven think that recruiting Mark Ferguson from Nine was really something, but to tell you the truth, he’s not that good at all. People want to see newsreaders that are both serious and humorous and to present these varying aspects at the right time. Ferguson is quite boring and I’m glad that Nine are rid of him.

  78. Jerome December 7, 2009 at 12:49 pm -

ten shouldn’t be playing new glee atm, the ratings are quite disapointing and don’t count towards anything and in july when they are stuck with repeats of rules of engagement they could really use these episodes.

  79. Dino December 7, 2009 at 11:23 am -

Despite the big cricket lead in for 9 News, 7 News still pulls out a win. Mark Ferguson once again humilates Peter Overton in Sydney.
