ABC snatches third place in Week 1

It's not just once in a blue moon that the ABC finishes ahead of TEN -it's twice. But Seven wins the first week of 2010's calendar year.

blue-moonThe Seven Network has won the first week of 2010, and the ABC has lifted to third place, leaving TEN to sit in fourth.

Week 1 of the year, another non-ratings week, saw the Seven Network finish with a 28.5% share ahead of Nine’s 27.1%. The ABC had 18.7%, TEN 17.4% and SBS 8.3%.

Both public broadcasters continue to do well in summer while TEN struggles with its younger audience away from their TV screens. Proving better than once in a blue moon, it was the second time this summer the ABC has finished ahead of TEN in Total People. It even bettered Nine on Saturday.

The top show of the week was Nine’s New Year’s Eve fireworks on 1.47m viewers.

  1. compared to nine, GO is actually pretty good, the movies are actually ones you like and the don’t flog it with adds, 2.5 men has to go though, after Charlie Sheens performance people will wake up to the true repetative crapness of the show, the naughiess have finished!

  2. I don’t think TEN can blame their poor result simply on their younger audience being away for Xmas, it’s got more to do with them simply having poor programs and breaking faith with their viewers too often.

I’ll never forgive them for not airing the final half of the final season of Battlestar Galactica, their constant screwing with the schedule for new Simpsons episodes and the waste of spectrum that is ONE HD and ONE Digital. To broadcast a 24 X 7 sports channel, on two digital channels(!), when you have the rights to almost no decent sporting events is simply crazy.

  3. i dont like 7, 9 or 7two but love GO!, Ten, ABC, SBS.
    what gives?
is there some reason why everyone loves these networks? like what, in your opinions, are the shows that make 7 and 9 better?
Two and Half Men doesnt count.
