  1. I sure hope they’re airing the 52nd Grammy Awards in Australia. I can’t wait to see Michael Jackson’s part – Regardless of whether it’s in 3D or not. I heard his 2 eldest children Paris and Prince will be accepting the award on behalf of him, which will be a memorable moment.
The Grammy’s are usually shown every year here – they better show it this year too!

  2. MJ 3D commercial is a lie—-U cannot see it in 3d at home. This must be a fake. Every 3D announcement from the 60’s to date has not worked on TV. This must be a PR campaign to get everyone to watch. I researched on google etc… cannot find anything that ststes this 3D thing is real—and why are TV manufactures just now coming out with special 3D tv sets. If my regular set will work-why buy the $20K tv. Oh- I’m going to buy avatar in 3d and watch it ahome on my set with free 3D glassess….oh yeah.

    You are being duped!

  3. I would of thought something as important as the grammys would of at least been in widescreen with 5.1 sound. I know foxtel doesnt offer 5.1 sound on their channels but Arena doesnt even offer widescreen. Makes the viewing seem dull

  4. This Grammy awards telecast is notable by the inclusion of Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” in 3D – this was made for his London concerts and scenes were included in last year’s “This Is It” documentary.

In the US free 3D glasses will be available from Target stores and he will be awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, with members of his family accepting for him.

I wonder with this knowledge, will any of the FTA channels pick this up (no sign of the Golden Globes as yet, but the Grammys traditionally bomb in the ratings most years).

Also I wonder what 3D process they’ll use in showing this music video — the blue/red glasses, the ‘polaroid’ 3D or the current ‘Real-3D’ process, currently used theatrically with movies such as “Avatar”?

This news was just announced so no doubt more details will be known soon–but one can’t help but realize that the concept of 3D television on a global basis will be born on this night….

  5. thanks for this david, slightly off topic but do we know if Nine and / or Movie Extra are showing the Oscars live again this year…keep up the great work.
