The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, has chosen its best for its 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which honours positive portrayals of GLBT characters and issues in TV, film, theatre and journalism.
The ABC network leads with 8 nominations in the Television categories despite the organisation’s displeasure with the axing of an Adam Lambert performance.
The awards will be handed out across three ceremonies in LA, San Francisco and New York City.
Cynthia Nixon will be presented with the Vito Russo Award, which honors openly gay media professionals for their efforts in promoting equal rights for the LGBT community.
Fingers crossed Australia gets to see them this time after the last one was dropped by Arena over music rights.

@Chris
I assume we are still in series 1 on ABC?
I get that he is only 14. By that age he should have realised that he is different from most of his peers and be trying to come to terms with it.
@ Regan. The final ep of season two deals with Simons sexuality very well.Remember in the series he is only 14.
Has Arena confirmed it’ll be showing the GLAAD awards, David?
Nope. Way too early.
I agree with Regan! ‘Beautiful People’ looks like it could put the LGBT movement back by ten years. Which makes me think if ‘Will & Grace’ ever got nominated…
Beautiful People?
Really?
Its just an endless string of stereotypes. From what I’ve seen so far, it hasn’t dealt with the character’s homosexuality even once.
“Pawnee Zoo” Parks and Recreation
is this the episode about the penguin marriage? if it is; that was hilarious, i hope that wins.
@Kenny…….. Dante’s Cove !
I know should really love that show and think it’s fabulous but it’s just aweful, lol.
Where’s “Dante’s Cove”, the 10:30pm porn hour on GO! ?
What …No love for Shameless? One of the best, funniest and most realistic portraits of gay and lesbian characters. Ian, Micky and Norma will be turning in their graves.
I’m sure there will no problem seeing them if they are not shown locally.
Is Tara a comedy or a Drama, I just know it’s something special.
