Nine takes Week 2

In a mostly uninspiring week of summer, Nine finished ahead of Seven and the ABC eclipsed TEN again.

The Nine Network has won Week 2 with a 27.9% share over Seven’s 26.9%, ABC’s 19.5%, TEN’s 18.0 and SBS 7.7%.

In a mostly uninspiring week, the top show for the week was Seven News (Sunday) on 1.42m viewers.

ABC had another good week, taking finishing ahead of TEN for the third time this summer.

Official ratings resume in a month.

  1. “its good to see an australian news service on the cutting edge of technology.”…you’re kidding me, aren’t you? everyone has this technology! and Ten News has been using it since 2007! in fact, they were the first in australia. looks like you’ve been conned by Nine’s tacky promo

  2. This streambox thing nine is advertising sounds rather cool… forever going live for news has been a horribly bulky ordeal, just look at all the 4wds with sat dishes on the roof, driving around all our capital cities. to be able to do a live report from anywhere in the world, and it all packs into a suitcase… thats awesome… sure the quality isnt 100% but im sure itll improve… its good to see an australian news service on the cutting edge of technology.

  3. I can’t stand how the VoiceOver guy for nine’s 2010 promo says
” two thousand ten” as opposed to the propper english “two thousand And ten”. Since when did we become the 52nd state of America?

  4. hahaha to Ch10, I predicted this happening over a year ago.. if they kept up this kind of shotty programming they would be competing with ABC for 4th. and its happening now, who the hell is programming over there? they should be Fired for Incompetence!

  5. Streambox – just Google it. First result reveals that it’s a technology where “your viewers can become news gathering contributors”.

In other words, you do their job for them without pay.

Meanwhile, whatever happened to “non ratings period”? If the size contest has already begun, then put some decent programming on already and stop pretending it’s not ratings season. It’s always ratings season.

  6. Streambox. So is this the new buzz for news services? 9 News thinks so.

What exactly is Streambox? Allegedly it’s cutting edge technology. To me it just sounds like web cam

  7. I’m not sure if Nine deserve to win at the moment, but I’m glad that they are. Seven are so much worse than them and I would hate to see them win another year. Nine has the best shows coming up this year anyway.

  8. It should be interesting to see how big events such as Australian Open and Winter Olympics affect ratings in the weeks to come. But you just have to look at Ten’s lineup to see why they are performing poorly in the ratings. You can only watch Billy Madison and every episode of The Simpsons so many times before it becomes an eyesore. The upside is that it gives viewers a chance to find better programming on ABC and elsewhere.
